Inside Out Improvisation

I’ve worked with Owen 1:1 and he is great! He makes working with your body fun, engaging, and really accessible. He is also a great communicator, he gives perspective on any challenges you might be feeling. I’m going to take his workshop soon!

This is a wonderful class for anyone and everyone. Get ready to use your whole body!
Not only is this a fun class to take, I learned so much about how my body connects to my emotion, voice, stance… etc
I suggest doing an 8wk series so you can really get into it.
Also a great class for anyone in the somatics/​exp. arts therapy fields like me!

LOVED IT! Improv classes are great to relieve stress from day to day work especially with teacher like Owen. He is an ‘Improv GURU’. Exceptionally talented guy and gives personal attention to each and every student. All activities in his class like movement and meditation, voice and motion exercise, mind-​body balance worked wonders on my body and soul. It brought me a new confidence and made aware of some of my hidden talents. If you ever wanted to do Improv classes, this is it!!!

Owen keeps you fully engaged: breath, body, and brain all working in sync. He leads you in exercises that allow you to explore and express yourself and to respond to others who are doing the same. In the classes that I attended, some practices were more about release, others more about attention; and all drew everyone into staying fully present and aware.
I’m not an actor or experienced with improv. But there was no need to be, because Owen is friendly and encouraging: In his classes, theirs no such thing as doing it wrong or not being good at it. You just jump in and try, and whatever you’re experimenting with works out. Often, I surprised myself by being more inventive and less self-​conscious than usual, which felt healthy. The collaborations with others were revealing and playful, too.
I found that these classes provide an active, interesting way to open up to new people and new possibilities. The classes sped by, and after each one I left full of energy and confidence.

Owen is a wonderful teacher of this physical improvisation form. I have been taking his classes since 2008 and highly recommend them to anyone interested in body-​mind awareness, performance, voice, theater, movement, and meditation. And if you’re not interested in any of these I still highly recommend his classes because they are great fun– an opportunity to mindfully play with others!
