Jimmy’s House of Sparkles

So I stopped in this place for the first time, passing a sign that said car washes for $ 10 and up. Sounds fine, even if it turns out to be $ 15 or so. I pull in, get out and the lady asks if I want a car wash. I say yes, and the interior vacuumed and armorall applied to the tires. She says $ 25. I was taken aback and I say I can go up the street and get the car professionally cleaned for that. The guy with her say, «Then go!» I promptly followed his advice. I hope they’re business acumen improves!

Prices start at $ 8. I have a Mazda 3 hatch and was charged $ 12 for an exterior wash and another $ 5 to vacuum the interior. They didn’t clean the bugs off the front of the car. It was a flimsy wipe down on the interior. I miss my old car wash in West Palm Beach FL. I got a lot more cleaning for the price. I doubt I’ll come back.

The guys here do a good job and charge reasonable prices. Hand wash starts at $ 8and up. One time the guys popped my fender seam back into place! I was a happy camper that day!

i saw this place when i was driving down market one day, and i knew i would end up there at some point. i mean, it’s call jimmy’s house of sparkles, for christ’s sake. plus, having just moved in the ‘hood (and i *mean* the hood, helloooo emeryville!), i thought i should support what was obviously a local institution.
all i can say is i wish the car wash was as good as the name. i wanted to some sparkle up on my car, which admittedly i did get on the exterior (especially the tires, they painted them with some secret sparkle solution), but the work on the interior was subpar. i even got a bonus floor mat from *someone else’s car*, which i didn’t notice till i got home.
i was also bummed because i had to wait an hour, which seemed too long since there were only three other cars around. i think the primary culprit was some drama with the janky garage door to the chamber where the exterior sparkle happens.
on the plus side, the people were extremely nice and the price was decent ($ 17.95). these two factors, combined with the name (maybe it’s aspirational?), make a three-​star rating right on the money.
