UPDATE1÷22÷2016 — Remember how I raved about loving the chicken noodle soup. I went back to get it a few days ago on a rainy cold Oakland day, and when I got back to y office, I found EXTREMELY watered down Campbells chicken noodle soup in my cup. Ot was disgusting. I threw it away. If this place can’t be consistent with their food to their consistent customers. Then I feel I cannot be consistent in the rating of a 3 star. Reducing to a 2 star rating. Bring back the homemade chicken noodle soup. And don’t ever charge someone $ 5.00 for a can of watered down campbells soup. What a slap in the face. I will not be back. OLDREVIEW below: I like their Chicken noodle soup and vanilla pound cake slice. They are a little over priced if you ask me, but they are great for a quick bite when you are at the office and just need to grab something and run back to the office. They are a little rude when they talk to you there though. It isn’t like they are slammed and they are some super fancy place, so you would think you would get a more humble experience. I always feel uncomfortable walking there and asking for my order. Its like I am being rushed out and they aren’t interested in me as a customer at all. its quite annoying. Thank goodness for good soup and pound cake, otherwise, I would never go back.

Only can speak for their pizza. It was easily available and fairly cost effective, but not super tasty. Nice location and people.

Mike is THEBEST. He is so nice and funny. Always remembers all his customers. Everything they make/have here is good and the prices are CHEAP. Perfect place for a quick lunch to go or coffee. They have a variety off snacks, drinks, and food to choose from. Anyone saying Mike is creepy or whatever just hasn’t met a truly genuinely nice person.

Jitters and Shakes is the best. It is the place where the customer is wanted to come back and the satisfaction of the customer comes first. This is something is dying in this day and age. If you want the fastfood/cattle call go to Starbucks or Speciality. Here the true coffee shop comes to be. I have been going there ever since the place opened. The coffee is great, and the food is good to. Mike the owner cares for his customers and wants them to come back and be at ease when they come to his store. Sad to say there is a bogus review where a person falsly states the owner Mike is creepy. He is far from being creepy. Mike likes to talk people, he likes to have customers to feel like they are seeing a friend. Mike cares for his customers. And yes, if Mike does not see you or sees you with another establishments coffee, he will ask if he has done something wrong. He does this joking and he would like to make his coffee or food better. I know amazing, in this day and age customer satisfaction.

I have been coming here since the day I started working in the area. Without Mike and Saffas happiness in my life every morning I would not be able to do my job as well as I do. I love my wake up call(also known as a black and white mocha), and the variety of fresh bagels, and all of their breakfast wraps homemade with fresh ingredients! Whenever I am having a rough morning the guys at Jitters always remind me to smile! Not mention that they have a taste in music that is varied and fun. I’ve never cared about a business as much as I care about Jitters and Shakes. I always leave the little abode feeling ready for the day that awaits me! All those business folk waiting in line at Starbucks will never know how influential a small business can be in shaping your everyday life.

Mike the owner is creepy. I stopped going because he wanted to know all my business. I tried being polite, but it got to be a bit much. It seems that he hits on most of his female customers, as for the men, well, he pushes them to buy a BMW,(which he says he can get them a GREAT deal!) from a friend of his. Another reason I stopped going, was if I didn’t go for one day or went to another place for coffee or lunch, the next day he’s ask where I have been, didn’t I like them? what’s wrong? etc. etc. Ugh!

Only positive is its close. Run of the mill one size fits all café. No such thing as a real latte. Its drip coffee with foam. If you want a real latte go to grand ave or bikecaffe. I also despise despondent owners that appease you with«im not tryin to rip you off» when its quite obvious you are and not just me.” Owners that charge you 50 cents for a transaction… Is it still 1950? And to provide proof, you sell mcd’s biscuits repackaged, lousy coffee, and pizza. What? This place is a mess. Avoid !!

Great coffee, delicious smoothies and how can you not like a place that serves baklava? Mike is such a pleasant and uplifting person to see in the morning, even before I’ve had my coffee, so that’s saying something! Fantastic customer service. They support local shelters in Oakland on top of being so awesome to their customers, so I make it a point to spend my coffee money here every time I’m nearby.

Nothing special sign said pizza at $ 2.99 a slice. Turns out all pizzas are bake in separate oven then put in 360° self rotating warmer how long I don’t know because I didn’t purchase anything. I thought it would be decent pizza but it wasn’t the case lots of small puddles of oil resting on the cheese and pepperoni. I ask if there were burgers and the filipino couple ownera said no but they do carry hotlinks and sausages that’s easy to make than grilling. I said I’m just checking uptown of oakland as I will be going back to SF after this month. I really wanted a coffee but they carry only mr. espresso and that I don’t like. Feel sorry for walking in and no purchases. Place is downstair of kaiser building in a corner and you will have to enter at corner also.

Staff is AMAZING. Coffee is AMAZING. I have had many caramel macchiatti from a lot of different places but this was by far the best. The smell and taste of the drink was pure bliss. AND it still cost less than Starbucks or Peets.

Jitters and Shakes is a serving counter and a few tables. menu is pizza, coffee, shakes, sammies, smoothies, etc. drink:(s)1.25, mr expresso coffee –4 blends in thermos on the back counter, wasn’t given a choice –coffee slightly harsh, not so smooth. –better than cheapest mr. expresso blend coffee drips: –fast, friendly service –difficult to see what they have to offer.

I wanted to give Jitters and Shakes 1 star for the food, 2.5 stars for the drinks, and 5 stars for the service. Darn you Unilocal and your flawed rating system! Food prices are cheap compared to other cafes, but worse in quality and quantity. If I wanted cold turkey meat slapped on Safeway bread, I would make it myself instead of spending $ 4.50. The drinks here are pretty decent and much better than the food. But I do wish they would add real fruit to their smoothies instead of just blending ice and sugary juice. I was excited to find a giant chunk of strawberry in my smoothie, only to realize that it was a giant chunk of ice. But service is flawless. These guys are very smile-y and fast at making your food(maybe partly because you will be the only customer there). They are friendly and double-check your order. WILL I come back: Mayyybe. I might give them a second chance. WHEN will I come back: Maybe in a month or two for a mocha WHAT will I do differently: Not order real food and just go with a drink

I almost feel guilty only giving them 4 stars because the service here is truly unbelievable. So much pure genuine effort to make sure that you leave happy. I really like that they offer nonfat frozen yogurt as well as vanilla ice cream for their shakes and smoothies. I also love that they have a couple dozen flavored syrups for your coffee drinks. I like the outdoor seating. The blended coffee drinks are amazing, but the smoothies are only good, not great(but my BF loves them so that’s ok). The coffee isn’t the best I’ve had but it is very good. Those two small details are all that keeps me from a 5 star rating, but in the Bay Area I am spoiled to good coffee and yummy smoothies. Competition is fierce. The funny thing? There may be alot of places near by where I can get a slightly better product, but I’d rather come here. It’s simply too hard to trade the fabulous service for a cup of coffee that is really, really good, instead of just really good. In today’s world people very rarely roll out the red carpet for you the way Mike does at Jitter’s & Shakes. BTW… Another great name.

«Inappropriately friendly» was how my co-worker described the guys behind the counter, but I found them just to be friendly. The coffee is really good, and cheap. I’ve ordered a bagel there a few days in a row and they toast it up good.
