Luxor Cab

dispatch this morning= terrible! if cab companies want to keep customers from über they should be able to provide ETA instead of making people wait 20 – 30 min indefinitely. especially during rush hour. and in the rain.

Horrible experience. Luxor Cab #1238. picked four of us up in North Beach., I was the last to be seated in the back seat. I never made it in the seat. While one foot was on the ground and the other in the cab, the taxi driver took off suddenly and I was thrown onto the sidewalk. My knee was bleeding and my neck and back were twisted. The man never apologized or asked if he could help. He should be fired. This occurred on Saturday night at about 8:10 p.m./20:00.

Why do I still rely on cab service in the city? I reserved a Luxor Cab through their online booking for a pick up at 9am on a Friday morning. I had a job interview in South San Francisco. I received an initial text message letting me know the cab was on its way. I received 3 follow-​up messages letting me know that the cab had been ‘re-​dispatched’ three different times.
Twenty minutes later, the cab actually showed up.
Unfortunately, the driver took a strange and windy back way, operating the vehicle like a maniac. I thought I was going to vomit, as he sped around some of SF’s notorious curves. I was hoping to use the time in the cab to prep more for my interview, but instead, I had to listen to the driver tell me all about his deep devotion to God and Catholicism, including his personal political beliefs.
When we finally arrived at my destination and I pulled out my credit card to pay, he rudely asked me, «Don’t you have any cash on you?»
Never again, Luxor cab. I just downloaded the Lyft app on my phone.

Was almost hit by a cab driver last week and had to call in a complaint regarding the cabbie driving recklessly in Cab #350; he was busy checking his phone, was moving when he should have stopped for pedestrians and almost hit me as I was crossing the street.
Spoke with a gentleman at their call center, employee #215, and reasoned it probably wasn’t the cabbie’s day and was going to take him off the streets due to the complaint.
Seriously, do your job or get off the streets, you’re putting others at danger driving recklessly!

I enjoyed the service, curb to curb, that Victor provided with Luxor Cab. The vehicle was exceptionally clean and roomy, the driver was friendly and easy going and the ride was generally quick.
The taxi was hailed from the street, so I can’t comment on an experience contacting the company to arrange something. That said, this being my first trip to San Francisco, I was happy to experience some hospitality with Luxor Cab.

I agree with prior thoughts. There is nothing wrong with the cabs or cabbies if you hail one from the street, but I’ve had consistent trouble with trying to call them to order a cab. They’ve been close to or more than an hour late on multiple occasions. That’s what we get for living in a city where demand grossly and weirdly outstrips supply for cabs, but I do think this company is particularly bad with getting ordered cabs to desired locations in a timely manner.

ABSOLUTE WORST TAXI EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
I take taxis to and from the airport almost every week for work. The other day I flew home from a work trip to SFO. I went to the SFO taxi line and was waved into a Luxor cab. I nicely greet the driver, and he nicely greets me back. After loading my suite case he asks where I’m going and I tell him my address. He asks if I know exactly how to get there. I say he should just use the GPS. Granted, I know exactly how to get home but after an exhausting early cross-​country flight I didn’t want to tell the driver turn by turn how to get to Oakland and preferred to relax in the back while the GPS gave him directions. He plugs in my address in the GPS then starts to drive. Then he says, «you know here we charge one and a half times what the meter says»…thinking that I heard him wrong, I say, «huh? What are you talking about?»…he says, «for example, if the meter says $ 50, you have to pay me $ 75»…i say, «that’s not how meters work»…he says, «yes, you pay one and a half more.»…I say, «NO! Stop the taxi, I’m getting out!» He continues to drive. I yell, «STOP RIGHT NOW!». He seems shocked that I’m saying no to him and hits the brakes and says, «no no, it’s fine». I say, «No, it’s not fine, that’s ILLEGAL!»…he is very nervous that I’ve obviously busted him and called him out on his scam, and he accidentally drives up on the curb. I jump out of the cab and wave the SFO taxi attendant over. I yell at the taxi driver to open the trunk so I can get my luggage out. He refuses at first and is very nervous and finally opens it but tries to keep the trunk half way closed so I can’t get my bag. I push open the trunk and grab my luggage. While doing this other SFO travelers approach the taxi from the taxi line thinking that the taxi was available. The taxi driver tried to hurry the other passengers into his car so he could leave before I report him. I yell to the SFO taxi attendant that he should NOT allow other riders to go in this taxi and recap the conversation to the SFO taxi attendant. The SFO attendant was very professional and says that that’s obviously illegal and if I want to give him my information then we can fill out a report and get the driver suspended or fired. The taxi driver keeps saying «no no» and «I could get suspended!». At this point I’m so frustrated and angry and just want to get as far away from the driver as possible. I had already given the driver my home address and literally did not feel safe standing next to him. I thought if I got him fired/​suspended then I ran the risk of him stalking me at my house. I told the SFO attendant that I didn’t feel comfortable giving out any more personal information with that driver standing next to me. I got into a different cab and left.
I really regret not writing down the license plate and the name of the driver so that I could report the actual driver and not the entire company. But in all reality, any company that hires drivers that try to STEAL from their passengers should get blasted on the internet. I will never use Luxor Cabs and will be sure to tell my coworkers and friends not to use them either. I’ll also be blasting them on every website I can find.
The taxi driver’s behavior was illegal, made me feel violated, and threatened my safety. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

We left a bag in a Luxor bag and they went to extreme effort to make sure our belongings where returned to us. I n this world this is amazing.

If you see a Luxor cab open then by all means take it, the cars themselves are fine in my experience. But a huge warning if you call them to order a cab. Several times now I have waited for over half an hour to finally call them again and be told that the cab came after just 5 minutes, couldn’t find me, and left. This is impossible because the cab always calls on approach, which didn’t occur. Today I finally asked to talk to a supervisor about it, who said he was busy and wasn’t interested, after about 20 seconds he told me to use another cab company and hung up on me. I’m from Australia, and in Sydney if cab drivers abandon their pick-​ups they get severely punished by the cab company, who actually care about their customer’s experience. Clearly not the case with Luxor.
What’s the point of calling? By not looking for another cab you actually delay getting to where you’re going. A few times I’ve actually let empty cabs from other companies go past because I felt too guilty to abandon my dialed cab… which makes me feel like a complete idiot. If for some reason you do call them be sure to call back every 5 – 10 minutes to check that your cab is still coming, they wont call you if it isn’t.
Congratulations Luxor, the frustration has pushed me to write my first ever Unilocal review. I wont be calling again.
