Meteor Motorbikes

Found Meteor on Unilocal,and due to all the great ratings, wanted to give them a try and also avoid my local shop who butchered my 954 last service.
Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional — these guys took care of a problematic fork job that required extra labor to undo some dodgy custom work. Appreciate the extra effort Rob, bike feels great.

Rob and Michelle are very friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. Took my Vstrom to them to get the radiator fan replaced. Rather than sell me a new factory fan, we decided to install a cheap, used one off Ebay saving me hundreds of $‘s. They charge reasonable prices for their work and offer great advice. They really deserve 10 stars!

This place is awesome! I went to have a tire re-​beaded on a Saturday with no appointment. They were obviously very busy and they took the time to take care of my tire and balance it. The price was very fair. Based on looking at their finished work and work in progress it is obvious they know exactly what they are doing. Service is great and Finished product is great. Thank You for such quick service!

My review for these guys is long overdue. Most importantly, their work quality is top notch and the price is definitely fair. Rob was a Honda mechanic before opening his shop, and parked in front I always see a number of Duc’s, Suzukis, Kawis, Yamaha, Triumphs and BMWs. Basically he works on all makes from all ages.
Rob and Michele are always friendly, helpful, and willing to answer technical/​curiosity questions to help you make decisions that suit your needs. They’re busy, but not impossibly packed. So call a week ahead. If you have a true emergency they will try to squeeze you in.
I moved in June 2014 from NY on a 2001 Honda 600F4i sport bike. A cross country trip. I’m the third owner and a new rider, and that bike met all my demands without any drama. Meteor Motorbikes was the first and only mechanic I’ve been to since then. They have done the full service including an 18k mile valve adjustment, new chain, new tire and sprockets, and a front brake rebuild after it failed and locked up due to age. I now also have a 2014 Ducati 821 Hyper that is acting up. I will no doubt bring all my bikes here for every work.

Emailed Meteor for a simple tire mount and balance wheel off the bike. They responded promptly the same day and told me bring it in the next. Super nice peeps and did the request as I waited. If I ever get a newer cycle I will bring it to these folks.

These guys are fantastic. I was just starting a cross country trip and my chain came off crossing the bay bridge (one of the more terrifying experiences of my life). Long story short, I made it into Oakland thanks to some help from a good Samaritan biker and found meteor thanks to Google. Even though they were about to close and don’t usually work on my style of bike, they took a look at it and triaged it so I could make it back across the bridge. They gave me great advice on getting it fixed and even offered to do the work if I was stuck and unable to find the parts and labor. Super chill vibe and very friendly! Made a pretty stressful situation seem workable.

In the words of my insurance adjuster, «Rob and Michelle are awesome, I just wanted to hang out at their shop all day». This is a great shop run by great folks that I just can’t begin to speak highly enough of.

Meteor motorbikes is my favorite mechanic shop in the Bay Area. My brother and I have been to several shops between us and both agree that they provide the best service, for the best price, and for a reasonable amount of time. I have taken my Triumph in for several different jobs and have been pleased every time.

I was in the market for some new tires and somebody to mount the new chain and sprockets that I had purchased for my 2011 V-​Strom.
Rob returned my initial voice-​mail within minutes, happened to have tires that fit my bike IN STOCK (110÷80−19 + 150÷70−17), and was able to accommodate my schedule perfectly. The day of the appointment, I dropped off the bike, went to the Railroad Stop Deli across the street with my laptop to get some work done, and a little while later got a tap on the shoulder from Michelle letting me know my bike was ready!
I was very happy with the price and the incredibly friendly vibe that Rob and Michelle project. I’ll definitely be back!

After a collision with a car in my neighborhood, I needed a shop to piece the front end of my Suzuki SV650 back together. The bike has a GSXR front end swap, so I was looking for a shop comfortable with the task. Rob and Michelle are confident, intelligent, kind people that left a great impression on me from the get go. After the repair, the bike feels better than ever! I’m excited to see Meteor Motorbikes grow.

Just took my bike for the first 1,000 mile maintenance. It’s shocking what a big different it makes! As soon as I turn the engine on, I noticed the nicer sound right away and it also runs so smoothly now. Rob and Michelle were awesome! I knew my bike was in good hands right after I met them. They’re super trustworthy :) The pricing was really reasonable too. Will definitely come back if there are anything, and highly recommended!

Rob and Michelle are great! I was looking for a place to help me bring my Kawi ZX-​6r special edition up to par. I needed a lot of work done and had no idea where to take my bike. In checking out a couple of places on Unilocal I called a couple of places to see if I could get some quotes. When I called, Rob answered and I told him I was looking for a quote and needed new tires, a chain, sprockets, tune-​up and a check of my fuel box intake after some a-​hole intentionally knocked over my bike, grrrr. He called me back the same day with the best quote I could find. He was very detail oriented and let me know what labor and parts costed and let me know what the process was.
They had all but one part I needed for my bike so he ordered it and it got there very quickly. I was able to drop my bike off and got it back in 2 days. Forgot to mention Rob even offered to put on my bike stand complimentary.
Customer service was amazing and never felt I was being ripped off cause I am a girl and don’t know too much about bike mechanics. I will always bring my bike here to get any work done and highly recommend this place to anyone who needs work done on theirs.

I dropped oh my Ninja late on Thurs it was ready on Friday I had they do the breaks and the 15,000 mile service. I will never take my bike to another place. THIS SHOP ROCKS!!!
My bike runs GREAT now as I’m a daily commuter rider.
Rob and Michelle are friendly, honest and know their shit. I mean bikes!

Forgot to write a review for this shop when I took my busted Yamaha R6 here. Very down to earth staff. They helped me unload my bike off my truck and was straight forward with me. They were very honest and the bike ran like a champ afterward. They ordered parts for me too. I just got a new ride and there getting my Business from now on. So much better than the arrogant dealers.

Rob and Michelle are cool people with a good sense of humor who know a lot about bikes and life. Rob has a true passion for motorcycles as opposed to $$$ and he’ll be upfront with you.
The bad news for me, like with most bay area bike shops, is he doesn’t work on motorcycles over 15 years old (most only work on 10 years or newer) but he did give me a referral to someone else who might be able to work on my Yamaha DS7 (looks like an RD5)

I am extremely satisfied with the work Rob has done on my 98 Honda Magna. I just got it back from a tyre replacement + regular service, and it’s running like a dream. You can tell that Rob and his partner really know their stuff, and they are both super friendly and helpful.
For awareness, I think these guys are really busy, because (a) they’re good, and (b) there’s a shortage of bike service shops in the East Bay. I was going out of town for work, so I was happy to leave my bike with them for a few days. Probably best to make an appointment rather than show up last minute.

Rob is the man. This man and partner shop in the heart of scary West Oakland is a jem. Rob is very knowledgeable and prompt with his time and work. Not to mention the price is more than reasonable.
He will take good care of your baby. Mine is a 2011 sp3.

If I could leave Rob a 6 star review I would! That’s how great his service is. Let me explain…
My Fiancée stumbled across Rob’s shop after realizing that our go-​to shop in the East Bay had closed down. I needed to have my rear tire replaced and so I gave Rob a call to let him know to expect me as soon as the new tire came in. When the day finally came for the tire delivery, I kept checked in with Rob once more to find out how late in the day he would be there and if I could still get the tire put on that day. Rob told me that he had just had a mechanic quit on him and so it was likely that the work wouldn’t get done that day. Sad faces all around… :(
However, I use my moto to commute to work, so every day without it is another day I have to ride public transportation (Not the end of world, but a nuisance, nonetheless) so I said ok, I’ll wait the additional day and we’ll go from there.
As I watched the clock get closer and closer to 7pm I realized that I might be waiting another day to get the tire put on. Then at about 545pm, the UPS guy showed up with tire in hand. I called Rob to let him know that I was on my way, threw the wheel and the new tire into the car and dashed off. By the time I got to Meteor, it was about 6:10pm. Rob ushers me into the shop and tells me «You know what, we can get that tire on there today. It’s not a big deal.»… Smiley faces are back … :)
He takes one look at the sprocket, still attached to my wheel, and says «Please don’t tell me you’re going to put that sprocket back on the bike». The sprocket was missing about 5 teeth. It’s aluminum and I hadn’t noticed it before that (chalk it up to me only being a rider for 3 years). He tells me to order a new one and it’ll be here in no time. It’ll take another 2 — 3 days to get to me and then I’d have to find an hr to remove the wheel to get the new sprocket on. Sad faces all around again … :(
Then as we’re in the shop, he tells me «I see that look in your eye, you want to ride again. Let me see what I have lying around the shop.» He then finds me an old supersprox sprocket that had the same teeth count as my current sprocket. Smiley faces again… :)
He slaps on the new sprocket and tire, gets all the work completed in no time, and tells me the final cost. $ 20!
This man just made my evening … and gained me as a long time customer. I highly recommend that you check his shop out.
