Michael Graham is a superb teacher. He is organized and caring. He’s a great player as well and can teach students at any level. As the instructor of string pedagogy at San Francisco Conservatory I’d unconditionally recommend him.

My name is Alison Streich and I am an Oakland Unified School District music teacher. I teach at three schools in West Oakland, and I am very lucky to have Mike mentor my cello students. Mike is a kind-hearted, super talented guy who is valued by all of us. He is an excellent teacher, and we look forward to our time with him every week. Michael Graham rocks!

Mike Graham is an exceptional cello teacher and performer. I play cello at an intermediate level and have been taking lessons from him regularly. Mike has opened me up to many new ways to listen, make a better sound, and perform more musically. He has completely transformed my vibrato. Best of all, he’s a caring individual who truly spreads the joy of cello music. Mike is simply brilliant!

Adult student here. I have played instruments before, but was braaaand new to the cello when I started taking lessons with Mike. He’s a great teacher. He’s very positive in his feedback and always helps keep you focused on those next few steps to become a better player. I feel I made better progress under Mike than I would have under a different instructor due to those two qualities alone.

Wonderful teacher! Mike is an amazing cellist. But he excels at teaching the eager-but-busy adult. He’s particularly brilliant at helping you figure out the best way for YOU to think about sound and technique and the underlying music. Plus he has a great dog.

Joining the chorus of happy students here– I’m new to Mike’s studio, but have learned so much in the past month that picking up the cello as an adult beginner feels more adventurous than daunting. Mike’s extremely awesome at explaining the(at times mysterious) art of cello playing. Others have mentioned the positive feedback and handsome dog. Add to all this kind patience, experienced musicianship, and you’ve pretty much got a gold star /A+ /kickass cello teacher.
