My favorite cousin was visiting from out of town and I wanted to show her what the Bay area is all about. Since Oakland is my favorite spot(besides the SF Ferry Building Marketplace) I chose to come to dinner here so I can selfishly check off another bookmark. So here we came and everything was absolutely amazing from the ambiance to the food to the service. For dinner we ordered strawberry ginger lemonades, crab cakes, soft shell crab po’boy(cousin) &CBQ burger(me). Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing bursting with flavor and goodness. The décor and ambiance is so creative and artsy and really screams Oakland while oozing with diversity. I’m sorry, but you don’t see this in Boston. No knock. Other notes: — Bar seating. — Upstairs seating which is great for large groups or parties. — Live DJ. — Warriors players frequent this spot. — BEWARE! There is a sign on the door that says not to leave anything valuable in your car… please take this seriously because once we left we saw someone breaking into a car across the street! My cousin wanted to call the police, but I told her that this kind of thing happens in Oakland…

Mua, you’re unexpectedly cool. This former garage has become a part bar/restaurant/art space. It’s a cavernous expanse of 6,500 square footage to play with. You can feel the energy of party goers pre-gaming on a Saturday night, some couples on a date night and small groups of friends laughing loudly, adding to the decibel breaking noise of the place. This is not one of those«let’s have a quiet dinner and hold hands» type of ambiance. You should definitely sit at the bar for a very stiff Basil Gimlet($ 9 during HH!) or a Rosemary gimlet while you wait for your friends to arrive. Or choose something out of the extensive wine/beer list. Meanwhile, you are wondering(staring really) at the bronze bust with a mannequin leg sticking out of it. There’s a lot of kitsch and artsy stuff going on all around you and that adds to the appeal of the place. The menu arrives and its a BIG menu. You’ll be confused at the choices offered and you’ll wonder if all of them will be executed nicely. I can’t answer that, but I do know that the crispy polenta in tomato sauce, bone marrow and the 24 hour pork spare ribs were amazing. You should also know that Mua’s burgers are quite popular. Nothing special, no special bun or toppings, just pure American ½ lb. beef, cooked medium(as requested), tomato, lettuce, onions, aioli. Lots of perfect, perfect skinny fries. Does not compete with my best burger(NOPA!) ever, but it’s pretty darn delicious. I’m docking a star for service. I understand a packed house, but we sometimes wondered where our server went when we needed refills on drinks, looking for our food, etc. Also, they literally came to our table to let us know that our time is up. WHOA!!! :0 Mua, despite that blunder, you are still cool in my book. Well worth the trip to Oaktown.

Mua’s industrial décor makes this place like an art museum, with wooden doors, mirrors, handwritten notes on love and hate(fine line, as we all know). Expect to be surprised by animal heads and mannequins in corners, but the ambient lighting and soft house music make this place a great place for a date or catch-up with a friend. When it comes to food and drink, Mua knows what it’s doing. Try their calamari, it’s crisp and juicy, and their mussels come in a white wine sauce that captures and keeps the essence of the sea shell. Try their crème brûlée if you like the sweet and creamy that is both crackly and smooth in your mouth, then wash it down with their affogato where the french vanilla ice cream goes beautifully with the fragrant coffee. Grab a couple of Jellybeans if you like them on your way out at the host stand. I’m writing this review after being to Mua five times, and they’ve consistently served up good food in an ambience that allows customers to gather while isolating. I’ve brought my newborn here, who recently turned five months, and she’s always been welcome, and shown love by the Mua family. I babywear, but I’ve seen strollers, and the ladies that run Mua are the sweetest. Thanks Mua, keep up the good work!

First 2 star rating. Came here for my best friend’s graduation celebration. She obtained her Masters in Nursing(family nurse practitioner) and of course we were excited, happy and celebrating! Me and 4 other girlfriends were buying shots and yelling real loud, congrats!!! Yes– we were girls and yelling congrats. It was during happy hour(4PM) and the bar was already Loud and playing music. One of the bartenders told us(in all Seriousness) to shut up. We quieted down for our dinner reservations at 5PM. Food Was okay. Only giving a 2 star rating because food was decent. Customer service sucked. We still tipped 30% because we are classy, educated, all with professional jobs and still know how to celebrate especially during a graduation. Thanks!

Mua is my favorite spot for happy hour and nice dinners. The drinks are amazing, and he food is out of this world. The service isn’t always as attentive as one would like, but even despite that, I’m giving 5 stars. The art is cool and funky, and it’s a great place to go! I highly recommend it.

Repeat after me, «Oakland is not the new Brooklyn; Oakland is not the new Brooklyn.» Yet, about ¼−1/3 of the hipsters from SF migrated over here in the hopes that it eventually becomes the new Brooklyn. Went to MUA the other Saturday night on a triple date per Janice C’s choice. I was born and raised in the Bay, I’ll be prideful when the Dubs are doing well, but I’m not on the bandwagon. However, though, gotta point out how Steph Curry comes here! The warehouse space is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. The layout is odd, where you have to walk through the bar first and then hit the hostess stand. Small bar area, but friendly bartenders. It’s loud and crowded, it was hot that day, but it was pretty warm in there as well(no AC). Parking was a pain in the ass, luckily we finally were able to swoop up on parking after about 15 – 20 minutes of circling around. Apps were ordered — ribs, polenta, and bone marrow. I only tried the marrow. 5 of us got their much talked about, burger, and one got the fried chicken. They gave three bones for the marrow. I like it when it’s the long bones cut in half; these were the short ones stuffed with a lot of garlic and parsley. It was hard to scoop out and not one of the more notable ones I’ve had. The burgers were huge and included fries. But it should at a base price of $ 16, and of course cheese was an additional cost. We both asked for medium. His was more medium well, and I thought mine was as well, until I cut it in half and ate the second half, which had some pink as opposed to the other half which had none. Fries were plentiful but overly salty and shrimpy as they were short and skinny. They weren’t totally crispy either. The burger was topped with aioli, tomato, onion and lettuce. Aioli was a nice touch and it was a messy big burger. Service could have been attentive, and apparently when all the ladies went to the bathroom; the hostess said that they had reservations for the table and asked if we would be leaving soon. How rude! We were waiting for our orders to be placed for awhile. Since we are were a group of 6, they added the automatic gratuity and it was 20% not 18%. A plus of this place is though they let you split checks easily. They have a bill split form that they give you with the bill where you write the last four digits of the card and the amount you wish to charge on it. Helpful indeed! 3 stars for a decent burger but inconsistent meat temp, cute urban warehouse hipster décor, but pricey for what it is too. No one can replace our beloved #1, the NOPA burger, which is actually a little cheaper and way better than MUA’s. I actually enjoy Umami’s burger more, as well as Super Duper’s even though I know that’s not an even comparison.

Mua is a cool space tucked away between car repair and dealer shops. It has a loft like feel with irreverent artsy décor. They have a happy hour starting at 4:30. Apparently it’s a party in the evenings and can get jam packed per one of the waitresses. The menu looks to offer many temping selections. I tried the Crispy tofu in black bean and sweet chili sauce and the brown butter Brussel sprouts, as well as a cilantro Ginger Pisco sour. Served on small plates the dishes were fabulous to share or not :) The crispy tofu was better than I thought I would be. Something about the black bean chili sauce sounded weird to me but it was a much better delivery than I had thought. The brown butter Brussel sprouts were fabulous. They were cooked just perfectly although I wouldn’t have minded them just a slight bit more roasted or grilled. But the flavor was delish! My drink was nicely balanced-not too strong-loved the cilantro flavor. Atmosphere was chill. It was early so not too many peeps yet. Can’t wait to come back with friends and try more items! Thanks Unilocal for another great find!

My friends and I made a reservation at Mua to celebrate birthday and at 6:30pm, the place was poppin, tables were filled and a line was forming out the door. Nestled in between dealerships, this gem of a place is very warehousey, but once you’re inside you’ll see how hipster it is: dim lighting, grungy art, both an upper & lower level w/full bars and DJ’s spinnin throwbacks. Mua is classic Oakland, which I loved! I had scanned Unilocal reviews and looked through pics all week and salivated over the bistro type menu & was set on getting the mussels & fries. It definitely did not disappoint! The tomato broth was savory, mussels were cooked perfectly and the fries were a nice change to dip in the broth instead of the usual bread/crostini. Friends ordered: soft shell crab sandwich, duck confit, and the spare ribs. Yuuuummm’s! from them all around! Portions were fairly large, though I wish they included more fries w/the mussels to thoroughly mop up all that broth. can’t let that goodness go to waste! Service: i read reviews about the service being slow, but that wasn’t the case for us. our server was attentive, filled our waters quickly, checked up frequently, and had all our orders come out fairly quick and at the same time(bonus points!) Dranks: so many cocktails to choose from! friends and i ordered the strawberry ginger lemonade, jus’ margarita, evad’o, and the ginger julep — all really great. they are a bit expensive, but you can tell these are good quality drinks. Overall great experience and can’t wait to come back!

Loved loved loved. Our server was wonderful(6pm on a Monday). Friendly, funny, helpful. Food was delish. Ordered a million things. I especially loved the spare ribs, cheese less Mac n cheese and spicy polenta. Also enjoyed the Mexico mule and strawberry ginger lemonade. Best thing about this place is the vibe. Really cool spot. Urban style. Subtle old school hip hop beats. Def would recommend!

This is tricky because because I’m torn about giving this restaurant a 4 star rating just because I’ve been here several times and in the past, they have been great! However, this last time was not the best and so I am basing this review on the most recent. I came here to take my sister out to try their bread pudding with raspberries because all the times I’ve had them in the past, they never failed to blow me away. I introduced several different people to this place and when they tried the bread pudding, they were in love! Most recently, I ordered two of their bread puddings and both of them had edges that were a little burnt and the texture was a little hard and chewy. Normally, the texture is soft. I hate to complain about something that may seem so small, but consistency in my opinion, is important. I really hope they that they are able to continue to keep the yummy softness to their bread pudding because it truly is a wonderful treat when done right.

I love this place and have been going there for years. The service is usually good and the food never disappoints. I’ve gone on weekends which is usually packed but this last time I went(Monday night) it was still pretty full but not insanely busy. You walk in this establishment and think«what did I get myself into» looking at the strange décor on the walls, but that’s what makes this spot unique. There is a DJ upstairs, the noise level is about a medium. My date sat across from me and we didn’t have to yell to speak to each other. There is a top level with a full bar as well but the night was slow so we didn’t get seated up there. We were seated within 5 minutes and our server greeted us right away. I always get the strawberry ginger lemonade(alcohol) because it is so delicious. We ordered Brussels sprouts, their famous«no cheese Mac and cheese» plate and grilled artichokes for appetizers and it was perfect. My main dish was the salmon over a bed of spinach, tomatoes and onions and bacon. The salmon was a bit too over cooked but the spinach salad made up for it. The next time I go I plan on trying their bone marrow, the table next to us had it and they raved about how delicious it was. I’ve never had a bad experience here. I give them a full 5 star review.

Very cool, urban feel. The DJ plays great music that matches the flow of the restaurant-along the lines of old-school hip-hop. Their ambiance & music is what makes this place so awesome. The place is quite large and there is also seating upstairs. You can find a good crowd of people here during dinner hours. They note on their menu $ 20 per person. My favorite parts were the French fries which are similar to In-n-Out fries and their Ahi tuna sashimi. The other dishes we had: Lamb cheek — very tender, definitely has that after-lamb taste. Beef bone marrow, extra fatty/oily. Tomato bisque & grilled cheese — plain & simple; you could probably make it better yourself. Softshell crab po’boy: the crab was good, but the bread wasn’t doing it for me.

Good food, modern Oakland hipster ambiance, long wait or you must reserve. And as you can see from other reviews — their reservation policy is pretty harsh. Almost to the point of being scary. I debated going here or another place because I don’t like their reservation policy but in the end decided to risk it and come here. Let me tell you I was stressed out over it all up to the point when we finally sat down. The $ 20 charge for absent party member or being late gave me a pretty stressful night. We had a fairly large party so the idea of being out $ 20 per person didn’t feel that good. I pretty much had to bug everyone so we were there on time. Whew. What a relief. As for the food — it was good. Portions on the small side. I personally eat like a bird and I left a bit hungry. So that tells you something. I ordered the duck entrée. It was perfectly crunchy and delicious. But the piece was small and I ate it in like 5mins. I also ordered a negroni which was super tasty. The servers were very attentive and came by like every other minute. Despite the size of this place we got our food quickly. Overall delicious place but be prepared for their draconian reservations and make sure you pre-eat at home if you are someone who eats more than a small cat.

This is the type of restaurant that I would normally hate. Eclectic menu, hip location etc. But I was very impressed on a Friday lunch recently. The service was warm and efficient, and all of the food was very, very good. The table of 5 of us made a point of ordering somewhat«un-safe» selections. Cheese-less mac and cheese, made with cream and squash? Mind blowingly good. Green bean sandwich? Excellent. Even the veggie burger was one of the better ones I’ve had. The chicken milanese was stellar too. All in all a funky, delicious spot, ideal for larger groups when you want to share a ton of food.

Came here for dinner for my birthday and it was my first time here. I had called in advanced to make reservations, which I highly suggest. When my friends and I had arrived it was pretty packed and busy. The décor of the place is quite eccentric but it’s a relatively open space. I really enjoyed the ambience. My friends and I had ordered a few of the small plates to share: — chicken liver pâté: must get! — beer bone marrow: must get! — crab cakes: can do without The entrée that I had ordered was the Blackened Catfish. It was pretty yummy and the portion was just right after sharing the 3 small plates with friends. I had ordered a Crazy Pisco from their cocktail menu, which is pretty good. However, when I ordered my usual drink of choice(gin and tonic with a splash of pineapple juice) the bartender for whatever reason couldn’t get it right. I had to send it back which I hardly ever do because that’s how bad it was. When the waitress brought me back my «adjusted» drink it didn’t taste much better. From now on I’ll play it safe and stick with their cocktail menu. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and very sweet. Right when we paid the bill, she brought me over a small glass filled with jelly beans and one candle in honor of my birthday. That was a really sweet treat. Be aware that they take your credit card information and will charge your card $ 20 each person if folks from your party at a no show. But just give them a call within 24 hours of your reservations and you should be fine. Luckily this didn’t happen to me, but just a heads up! Nonetheless, I’d definitely come back!

I just might enjoy the appetizers a little– ALOT more than the entrées. Came here on a Friday night around prime time(8PM) & there was a little wait but only for 30 minutes. Although, you can make a reservation but we just dropped in. The vibe was really different from what I’m use to but I really like it! There was also two levels of the restaurant. Everyone was extremely friendly & patience with my party of 5! We ordered: –no cheese mac n cheese –bone marrow –crab cakes –1 lb ribeye steak(comes with fries) Let me just say, you MUST try the no cheese mac n cheese! ITSAMAZEBALLSSSSS! You would’ve never guessed they didn’t use any dairy in it! It was really creamy & the pasta was soft! Can I have 5 more orders of those please??? I never had bone marrow before & this was the thing I was excited to try & it was delicious! I only wish it came with more! The bread compliments it so well. The crab cakes came with a side of beets & usually I don’t like beets but they were really tasty! The crab cake melts in your mouth & was buttery & crispy. The ribeye was cooked to perfection! I never seen anyone do medium rare that perfectly. It came with a garlic butter spread on top & it was good as well! Usually I don’t like anything garlicky but you can barely taste it. But I also thought it was a little salty. The steak also comes with thinly cut fries! &ALOTOFIT! This place doesn’t have ranch which I was so sad about. But it didn’t take away from the amazing dinner & service I had! The gratuity was 20% at this restaurant & I had 5 people with me. I would definitely come back here again & maybe just load up on the appetizers because I enjoyed it a lot more! & it definitely fills you up!

We’ve been meaning to try this place for awhile now and randomly decided to go on a Friday night after work for our date night. First impression was great, I loved the ambiance and the place looks amazing! I fell in love with their contemporary-industrial look and it’s super spacious. We got there around 6:30 — 7:00PM. To my surprise, we were seated right away on the second level. We shared the steak, bone marrow and the shrimp dish. The steak was cooked to perfection! And the bone marrow was super buttery and enriched in flavor. Both of them were equally delicious. The shrimp dish, however, I felt a little skimped. But overall, I really enjoyed the food. Such a hidden gem and the food is delicious! Couldn’t have asked for more! I will definitely go back.

Review update of Mua. It was A-OK and not much has changed for me. Food is solid and great because it’s open late nights. New favorite items are the crispy polenta and the catfish. Both are really done nicely and worth going back for. Sadly their 1 pound rib eye steak is still terrible in value and taste. 38 dollars is ridiculous for a steak that you can make at home. Their kitchen needs lessons in basic steak cooking. Cocktails are still a hit here and it’s a great bar scene. The entire restaurant is designed with Oakland’s art and culture in mind. Plenty of things to look at around the building and worth taking the time to. It really has the heart and diversity of Oakland in mind through and through. It is a great restaurant for large parties. It’s huge and they have a ton of tables for big groups. Though in my experience service is a little spotty when in a large group. Often items or requests are forgotten. It’s pretty loud in here so that might be half the issue. It’s a big echoing building and on top there’s always a DJ spinning tunes. I love the music but it does affect the dining part of the experience. Probably best to go over your order with your server before they head to the back. I do enjoy the owner lady(at least i think she is) who works the room. She’s a nice touch and has he own style that pairs well with the restaurant. Personally it’s great for parties and late night eats but I probably would go elsewhere if I was on a date or wanted to have conversation without yelling. Also, something to note there is always cars getting broken into around the neighborhood so just make sure you lock everything up in your trunk properly.

Not sure if its more of a loungey restaurant or a cool lounge that offers a full menu… In any case, the food is really good and the atmosphere is nice. We started with the smoked trout salad and chicken wings. For our entrees, we tried the blackened catfish and the chicken milanese dishes. To finish, we had the crème brûlée :-D All of these dishes were great. We passed on ordering cocktails for this particular visit, but they did offer some pretty tempting choices. I will definitely try one next time.

First off, having a dining per person minimum was a turn off. But fortunately, the food and we’ll crafted drinks made up for it. It appeared to be a large warehouse with a cute garden like entrance. The place was busy but not too crowded. I liked the large selection of drinks and small plates. Entrees were slightly more limited with about 7 options. I had one drink and it was strong and we’ll made. Others at our table seemed to like their drinks. Their nonalcoholic drinks seemed good as one friend had a lemonade. She had two! I shared the fried calamari which was a good portion. It was tender with a light crisp. The aioli was a little salty for my taste. I could easily eat half because it’s so tasty.4/5* The guac and chips were average. I tasted minced raw onion in it. I personally like mine with more seasoning. Thought it could have been slightly larger portion. Better to share w only 2 people. 3/5* I tried the fried chicken and soft crab po boy. The fries taste like fresh potatoes… similar to in n out. The po boy was good but I didn’t love it. My husband and friend liked it a lot though. The crab was meaty and cris but though it could use more sauce or mayo. The bread was just ok for me. 3/5* I liked the fried chicken. It came with 3 pieces, Cole slaw and cornbread slice. The chicken tasted like it was salt brined. It had a crisp crust. The Cole slaw was very good as well. Not mayo based which was a nice change. I guess it’s vinegar based but wasnt over powering at all. The cornbread was moist and buttery yet firm. 4/5* For dessert we split bread pudding and opted for caramel sauce instead of berries. It was everything bread pudding should be– dense, moist and not overly sweet. I tend to love caramel sauce on bread pudding. Great choice too. 4/5* I’d be back! And our server had good recommendations as well.

Had a date night with my wife here without the kids. She told me to surprise her, so I was Unilocaling for places in Oakland, since she was from here until she married me and moved to the South Bay. We dropped off the kids at the grandparents who still live in Oakland. Long story short, we weren’t disappointed even a friend said this place is kind of loud. We ordered the bone marrow and ahi tuna roll as our appetizers. For our main course, I had the grilled salmon and my wife had the soft shell crab po’boy. Usually, my wife doesn’t eat salmon, but she liked it because it was perfectly cooked and was very tasty with the salad that it paired with. I thought the same too. It was delicious! Her soft shell crab po’boy, she was hesitated to order because thought the bread would be hard, even though, she likes soft shell crab a lot. She ordered anyway. The bread was so soft and the soft shell crab was fresh and crunchy. Now, she’s in love without it. The ambience was very nice and the music wasn’t too loud as we were told. Overall, the food and atmosphere were amazing. We would definitely come back again. The only con is parking. It’s hard to find one.

Bone marrow appetizer was really oily. More oily than marrow, so it wasn’t that appetizing even on bread. The alcoholic drinks we had were tasty, though. I had blackened fish and it was super salty and over seasoned, but I don’t order this much, so maybe that’s how it always is. I knew that it would be very seasoned but I was shot in my mouth with saltiness! The restaurant itself was cute and I like the layout. Basically some tables and chairs in a warehouse. And it’s cool that the restaurant is right next to you so that you can see all the action as well as bar happenings. The décor is fun and interesting.

Oakland is the now up and coming with this trendy spot. It has 2 floors, located in the downtown of Oakland. I had a piece of their veggie burger and if your into that stuff try it! Its pretty good, it has a hint of chili in my opinion but the bns were soft and the patty was good and fries are fries so you can’t complain. Now for the drinks! So when you ask for a shot… theyll give it to you as a double shot, so if your looking for a pre-game spot with good food COMEHERE. Because you will get your moneys worth. I also had the Ginger Julep and yummy and strong :) Try it out! PS Parking can be a hassle.

Came here for Oakland Restaurant Week, however, I ended up ordering from their regular menu. The price savings weren’t that much and I was more interested in their other options. Between my husband and I, we shared the following: 1. Brussels Sprouts cooked in Brown Butter: simple but delicious. My husband loves his brussels sprouts. It was a tasty veggie side. 2. No Cheese«Mac n Cheese»: creamy! Made with butternut squash and cream. It was pretty good and I love my cheese. It was not heavy at all. I can easily consume as lot of this and not feel as guilty. Though I’m really not sure how«healthy» it is with the cream. 3. Bone Marrow: my husband was starting to get pretty sick of bone marrow. NOT I! But he did end up enjoying this dish. Yes, it’s fatty. But that’s how I love it. I didn’t find much problem scooping it out, just switch to the bottom of it. I did wish there was more than just toast and cornichon. 4. Lamb cheeks: the cheeks were tender and the sauce was delicious. I wish there was more. 5. The Hamburger with blue cheese and bacon. I thought it was ok. It was good but not memorable. 6. Bread pudding: YUM! Great way to end the night. Even after everything, this really hit the spot. Service was VERY prompt. We had our waters refilled and changed with a quickness. I loved the vibe. Expect a vibrant scene. There’s a DJ spinning 90s jam with the music video projected on the wall. People are talking, dining, enjoying themselves. The place was pretty packed and busy. Make a reservation. I set one at 6:30pm on a Sunday and I’m glad I had one. There was already a line of people waiting when we got there and it only got longer as we were dining. I’ll definitely return here again.

Wow… WTF, Oakland? Anyway, good for you. This area is drawing in a LOT of peeps, so take note that parking is going to be almost impossible. We finally found a parking lot where we could pay for some seriously cramped spots. By the time we found this spot, we were willing to pay whatever. I kept calling this place Mmmwah… like a kiss. Still not sure if this is the correct pronunciation, but I like making kissing faces while explaining to my friends, the wonderful meal I enjoyed here, recently. At first I hated this place, due to the EXTREME amount of patrons also trying to get some good grub on. I thought… damn, this place is Hipster-ville, and I’m going to look like the OLD Hag who just came in off the street. Yeah well, then I peeped the menu and thought — screw it. I will wait for-ever how long it takes to get a table, because I wanted to re-live my youth and hang out with the cool kids, and that one really drunk chick who sounded like a goat. As, I really wished we had more people in our party(you’ll want to go here with a group to try out all of the wonderful small plates), I was treated to dine with my oldman… aka — caveman. I already knew he’d want a steak or burger. So could only pick about 2 smalls plates for myself. I wanted EVERYTHING. Finally decided on Bone Marrow, and No Cheese Mac n Cheese… OMG two really rich dishes and I was done in a few bites. Both delicious. The mac could use a little salt, but was still very tasty and creamy. The marrow was, as I expected… lovely, rich beef-butter with toasty bread. The oldman’s burger was also very, very good. All of the plates I spied being carried to other tables looked equally delicious. I’ll be back to try more of the menu. I’ll also bring more people so I can let my fork wander. I’d even invite some vegetarians… that’s how much I like their menu. Mmmmwaaaahhh.

Stepping in, I was already impressed with the front dining. Enter more in and there are glowing lights hung around this huge lodge-like, industrial restaurant! It’s a good welcoming vibe, indeed! Happy hours are welcomed at the bar only. If you want dining, this place is spacious for it. Service was great and food arrived on time. They have a nice selection of cocktails, beer and wine to choose from! I loved the lamb cheeks with that delicious sauce! Their crab cakes was a nice starter dish. Chicken wings offered that sweet sticky sauce. Burger and fried calamari was of the norm. They even have a slight biergarten up front! Mua surely knows how to host!

Went for dinner last night and it was such a wonderful experience. For starters, parking is impossible. Either you have to park really far, wait around for a long time for someone to leave, or pay for parking at one of the parking lots. After driving around for half an hour, my bf and I ended up paying $ 8 at parking lot. So just prepare for that. The place itself is really hip and modern. It’s a nice place to stop to grab some drinks after work or to celebrate a nice event or to go to a nice dinner. I thought we would have to wait since we came in around 7 on a Friday but we were immediately seated. The inside is so pretty with the high ceilings. I really liked the décor of the place. It was pretty loud in there. It seemed like everybody’s voices would get 10x louder when they entered. I really enjoyed the dj as well, he played good music. They have a great drink selection. Our waitress was helpful when I asked a bunch of questions about the beer. The appetizers were amazing. We got the bone marrow and the sashimi. For dinner we split the mussels with the fries. The appetizers were a bit small and pricy, but it was worth it. Very tasty. The mussels were probably the best mussels I’ve ever had. It was a huge portion and my bf and I were stuffed after. Food was on point. Service was on point as well. I wish I got our waitresses name but she was really on top of it. Always checked up on us and asked how we were. The food came out fast. I was expecting slow service because there were so many people, but we were in and out in an hour and a half. Great spot in Oakland, I’ll be back.

From the ambiance to the food and drinks this place is awesome. The location is very unique, it is nestle on a curbed street between a car dealership. I went during the week around 6:15. Happy hour ended around 6:30 but the bartender was very accommodating. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. The staff here are working hard. I couldn’t even lay a napkin down without a staff swapping it out for a new one(I was sitting at the bar). I recognized the owner walking around and once I saw how posh/hip/classy she was, everything about this place made sense. I had the torrontes sparkling champagne with the fried calamari and chicken wings. The calamari was very tender and perfectly cooked and seasoned with some fried jalapeños which provided the perfect balance of heat and subtle sweetness. The chicken wings were very flavorful with the commercial sweet chili sauce. They added some cilantro and sesame seeds to take it up a notch. Overall I will surely be back. This place is perfect for groups, date nights and lovers of art. Also an added bonus: they have happy hour everyday.

No, I have not been under a rock, but don’t ask me why I didn’t find out about this place sooner! The first time I knew of Mua was through Check Please Bay Area, one of the very few TV shows I watch. Naturally I bookmarked it on Unilocal when I found out about it, and I finally got around to trying it last week. My dear friend and I decided to meet up here at 4:30 on a Wednesday for HH. They had just opened, so we were pretty much their first guests that evening. The DF and I decided to sit outside as it was a nice day. We ordered our drinks and food at the bar and took our drinks outside. I had the Bella Luna(whiskey, Aperol, agave and lemon) which was a very nice balanced drink. The DF had the Lemon Drop. For food, we ordered the Guacamole and Chips, and Chicken Wings specials on the HH menu. The guac was okay and the wings were pretty good, though my friend felt like something was missing in it. As we were still hungry, we ordered a few more items after that. I ordered The Hamburger with white cheddar, medium. It’s a huge burger(½ pound) and it was cooked perfectly. Lots of pink in the middle, just the way I like it. The fries that came with were so good! They were thin and crispy, but not dried out. You must dip it in the aioli. So good! The burger was so big that I ended up taking half of it home for the hubby! The DF wasn’t that hungry so she got the crispy tofu and more fries. She didn’t realize that my burger came with fries, so we had like enough fries to feed four people on our table! Yikes! The DF and I were so busy gabbing that we were totally unaware that the restaurant had filled up and that it was getting dark outside. When we went back in to get our bill, the dining room was abuzz with diners and the bar was all full too with the after work crowd. Such a cool place to hang out after work or to take a date. The owners have really transformed this warehouse to an amazing space that will make you want to linger with your friends! My friend and I were there for about three hours, so you can imagine just how much we liked being there. Thanks Mua for the hospitality and I will be back with the hubby soon!

This place is awesome! It doesn’t look like much from the outside but when you walk inside it opens up to a rather large 2 storied restaurant and bar. The décor is really cool, kinda artsy infused with weirdness… in a good way The crowd is very diverse, the staff was really nice. Overall good spot
