Murasaki Fine Futon Shop

One of the best purchases ever! The service was impeccable and the prices were great and with the quality I could not be more pleased.

My newly purchased futon did not take long to form a large dip in the middle. I expected this would happen in time but not as soon as it did. I called up the shop to see if they would fluff it back up for a fee. They told me they do not provide this service. I am disappointed and left with a costly near-​useless futon only a few months after getting it. It is surprising that in the eco-​conscious Bay Area there is no industry standard for re-​vamping futons and no environmentally-​friendly way to recycle them. In all fairness, Murasaki is not alone in this deficiency. One star for selling me a bad quality product.

The only thing better than the awesome futon bed I purchased from Murasaki was my experience when doing so! After clearing a bed frame to let me test-​lie on two types of futons, the affable saleslady took the time to answer all my questions about the various futons types (4-​inches thick, 5-​inches thick, all cotton or with cotton mixed with layers of wool) and proffered advice on how best to maintain it.
Even better, due to my proximity to the store, she volunteered to deliver it free of charge! It arrived exactly when she said it would, and my life was that much easier because of it. A great shop that excels in customer service!

futons came across as a sleep aid from fam when my doc recommended me for sleep disorder testing-​sleep apnea.
came across this shop on a stroll. went in to see what futons were about.
the lady here was very nice and showed me the many futons that were available. i told her i would consider buying a futon if testing determines it part of my rehabilatation.
definitely returning if testing determines futons will help me sleep better.

This store is so very lovely!
The owner is the nicest Taiwanese lady who doesn’t push you to buy things and doesn’t watch you suspiciously as other store owners do. It was very pleasant in the store.
The walls are draped with beautiful fabrics with traditional Japanese designs on it, lined with beautiful gold and silver threading. I imagined creating a relaxing living room space with a Japanese theme ~ futon couch, futon reading chair, with custom made futon/​cushion covers from my own handpicked fabric, soft glowing white lanterns and fine incense burning. And I would buy it all here!
The other tidbits they have: origami paper, an interesting selection of fortune cats (fat, skinny, pink, glittery, etc.), sake and tea sets, hair pins, small flower vases and other interesting things. They would all make for nice gifts or just fun to decorate your home or office with.
Now I can’t wait to refurnish and redecorate my apartment!!!
