I’m originally from the Central Valley where it’s hotter than hell’s waiting room, and am used to only being able to ice skate when I traveled to the hills, but now that I’m in the bay; I feel great knowing there are places to play on ice year round. This establishment is excellent, the staff members are skilled skaters and can give you a run for your money in speed skating, but are also very helpful and patient with beginners. I first visited this place on one of my son’s field trips and had a blast, they have plenty of room for parties and skating and even boast some pretty awesome arcade games. Even if skating isn’t your thing, you can still have a good time watching and helping others enjoy their experience to the fullest.

ICe hockey in downtown Oakland yes!!. Sadly for me I no longer call the east bay home. Which is bullshit fucking hate my sorry ass life sometimes. The olympic rink is my favorite sadly they often are using that for public skate. I know if im back in the region after finishing or droping out of my shitty college I know ill have to hit this place up.

This is not the place to have a birthday party It cost way to much for the time they gave you and your party to have fun and the staff dont get me started on them just save your money found a BETTER PLACE for a birthday party we will never go back.

Have come here since childhood occasionally. It’s a huge rink and they take pretty good care of it. Skate rentals are very reasonable, and it’s a good time. Nice date spot for the holidays when they play christmas songs.

I am visiting family and friends here for the holidays and needed a place to practice for a few days. The place was hopping with customers and eager skaters and so I waited in line for a few minutes. When I got up to the counter to pay for my session, the girl cashier was friendly and quick to let me sign up for the session. The ice quality on the NHL size rink was great and the facility in general is very nice. Clean, quality, and a great place overall!

The staff at the Oakland Ice Center are great, especially Monika, they’re very friendly and the ice is great, I’ve played hockey there a few times and it’s a really nice rink. Finding parking can be hard sometimes and I don’t think the rink is in the safest area but the management is just great and if you’re looking for something to do in Oakland I would highly recommend going public skating.

Ice is the best in the area. However for close to 10k for an adult team, games shouldn’t be played past 10pm and should include some free beer and hot dogs.

A few weeks ago I brought my granddaughter in for some figure skating lessons and we will not be going back. I was told on the phone that I could sign up for a camp when we arrived but the woman at the front desk refused to sign her up and said they needed authorization from the skating director. Then I was told this «director» is never there on the first day of camp; how convenient? That was who told me to pay at the front desk??? His name is David, I got that much.
After 30 minutes of utter confusion my granddaughter was placed in a class with a «not very nice» Russian man named Vadim. He basically ignored all the girls except one who another grandparent told me was his special student that pays him extra. Who knew I had to pay extra??? Come to find out he’s been arrested for «failure to appear» and PROWLING! Just who hired this man to work with children? HINT… It’s pretty easy to do a Google search on someone and if your mug shot comes up you should probably not be around children!
For the cost of the skating lessons I expected much better treatment. Ultimately, I didn’t feel safe bringing my granddaughter into this environment. I didn’t even bother to try to get a refund.

We had a great time at the rink. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. The facility it self is huge the have to ice rinks. They serve beer and Tim Hortons coffee, I love this. Parking was not so bad either. I will be back we had such a great time. This place is a gem.

The staff at Oakland Ice are supernice and helpful. Love the 2 ice surfaces! Pro-​shop is awesome, love that Hossa leftie CCM stick!
Can just say… nothin’ like the smell of fresh ice.

The Oakland Ice center is one of the newer ice facilities in the Bay Area … well, as opposed to say Belmont and Dublin that have been around decades. Located right in the middle of Downtown Oakland, the parking is not the greatest and I definitely would not skate here at night due to the sketch neighborhood … unless I had a couple of bodyguards! there is figure skating and hockey here. Me, I’m more into a speed skating workout, so I just used the public sessions. This may be the closest rink to where I live, but it’s not my first choice. First off, it’s the neighborhood and all the broken auto glass I see in parking areas, second it gets crowded faster than the suburban rinks and I like space in front of me. It’s super loud in here as indicated by other reviews and the food sort of sucks too. It’s $ 9.75 for public sessions and then add skates if you need to rent. The size is pretty good, but with the amount of people it still gets too crowded for me to be using my speed skates. I have to pick up munchkins and move then out of he way! It is a good rink if you are first out on the new ice! I’ll be sticking with Dublin as my «home rink.

Nice skating facility, just be very, very careful parking a car on the streets outside. Especially on a weekend night. Our car and the car next to ours were broken into by smashing windows while we were at an Ice Center event. Use the garage adjacent for better safety. After speaking with employees and nearby business people, this is apparently a common occurrence in the area. Be careful out there!

Had a lot of fun on the Cheap Tuesday skate! 11 $ including ice skate rentals! Normally 14 $ which isn’t bad considering you have two hours to skate! They also have beer on tap and .50 cent lockers! Awesome place to go with friends or just to kill some time. Defiantly will be back next Tuesday!

Everything great but the food. So bring your own. Aside from that, the place seems to keep a good flow on everything. Bathrooms are clean with butt warmers for toilets. The crew is über nice. Hecka cold so make sure to dress appropriately. If you get wet you will STAY wet.
As for food, it’s way too expensive for the quality. I kid you not, it’s all picnic style. All looked like it was made at a high school food stand. The hot dogs, chilli, and cheese are the same kind as at a gas station (which means they don’t stay hot pass 2 mins and the bread is cold). Their sandwiches are dry and tasteless. They sell them by halfs and wholes but either is tiny.
Good people. Sucky food.

A surprisingly large facility tucked into the middle of downtown Oakland. There are two sheets of ice here, and both can accommodate hockey players and figure skaters. There are also frequent open-​skating sessions available to the general public.
Large seating areas here also make this a good venue for club hockey games or even events like the recent 2013 – 2014 Pacific Sectionals, a qualifying event for the U.S. national figure skating championships. There’s even a pro shop and a concession stand.
While I wouldn’t recommend drinking before skating, the presence of numerous high-​quality bars and restaurants just steps away provides added incentive to burn off a few calories here before partying it up elsewhere afterwards. Definitely worth checking out if you can hold your own on the ice — or would like to learn how.

Two large skating rings with ample seating. One ring for the ice hockey practices and games and the other mostly for public free skating. Kept colder than most rings so bring some warm blankets to insulate your buns from the cold Aluminum seats. Lots of skaters joking and old having a great time — good to see fun in the heart of a city with sometimes bad press.

Best place to skate in the Bay. Went to the Dublin rink last weekend, which reminded me why I love this place so much.
Clean, friendly staff, and most importantly, nicely tended ice.

Brought a group of almost 100 7th graders here for a class field trip. There are two ice arenas here, one for those unskilled in the arts (or rambunctious 13 year olds), and one for hockey players or pros, it appears to me. There’s a small pro shop there, with varied business hours, air hockey, small arcade like games, and a concession stand that’s almost reasonably priced (surprisingly).
Coming from the Midwest, it seems pretty pricey for open skate and rentals, but given that we’re in Oakland, might be pretty reasonable. Just remember to dress in lots of layers. It’s quite cold in there (yes, even for an ice arena), and you don’t want to freeze!
