I agree with other customers’ reviews noting that sometimes there are long waits at the register and you should do your research and know what you are looking for– I live nearby and have been using this shop for auto parts for 16 years (as Kragen, now O’Reilly)– but when I have needed it the people behind the counter have always done what they could to help. *But in particular* I’m moved to write this review because this past Sunday morning I came by to get a new battery, and a counter staff person named Gracie came out and struggled through helping me remove my old battery and install the new one, going WAY beyond what anyone should expect from a counter staffer at an auto parts store. I can’t believe when I dropped a part while we were under the hood she got under the car and fished out the part I dropped. I tried to give her a tip and she handed it back and said it was part of her job. Major big thanks to Gracie and her management team who support counter staff getting out into the parking lot to help people like me. (I had never changed a battery by myself and brought the wrong tools.) I’m probably the reason you had a longer-​than-​usual wait at the cash register if you came by Sunday morning.

Just a really friendly group. I get the parts and the help that I need. I just bought a new bulb for my headlight, and the manager was nice enough to not only verify it was a specific bulb that I needed, but also took out the old broken bulb and replaced it with the new one for me. Nice guy. And I appreciate his help. High fives!

My goal is to find places like this and put them out on blast for their terrible customer service and their lack of work I came in today just to get some parts but unfortunately I came out with nothing they have one person and about 5 people in line while five other workers did absolutely nothing but stand around and talk to each other about shoes this has to be the worst auto parts store in the Bay Area by far I was not the only person that walked outta line the sad thing is I actually got my parts but I couldn’t pay for them because there was nobody at the register doing their job definitely do not recommend this place I’ll never come back and I hope you do the same

The staff here is solid and always friendly. Do not expect them to be auto experts. If you’re shopping for auto parts you should already know what you’re doing. If you don’t, seek a professional.
Wait times can sometimes be a little long. If they don’t have the part you need chances are another location in Oakland has it in stock. Ask the staff to search other locations nearby.

I just want to say that the manager Mark (Mckinley? McCanley?) at O’Reilly’s is so helpful and awesome. He takes customer service to a whole other level. I am a full time rideshare driver with a newer car. I went to my annual inspection in order to continue driving with one of the companies I am partnered with. To my shock, both of my rear brake lights were out!!! My driver account was deactivated until I could get the brake lights fixed To make matters worse, my car’s warranty is just up. I was freaking out thinking I would have to pay for some sort of wiring issue to be repaired. (I am a single mom and student so finances are tight.) Went to O’Reilly’s to find brake light bulbs. I wasn’t sure what kind of bulbs I needed because the rear light casings have both brake and turn signal lights in them. I wasn’t going to be a typical annoying girl and ask for help (though I really had no idea what I was doing) but Mark offered his assistance. He removed the light casings, put the bulbs in and had me make sure they worked… all before charging me ten bucks for both bulbs. Problem solved!!! I am so grateful to be able to get back on the road and make some money!

My battery died during a rainstorm today so, needless to say, I was in a foul mood. Called up this location and Mark was very helpful on the phone. Got my car jumped and headed down there. It had stopped raining by the time I got there so Mark very graciously changed my battery. He was very helpful and managed to turn my bad day around. He earned a loyal customer today.

I normally interact with the staff on weekends and late evenings, each one of them have been very helpful. Jenny is good at multitasking and good at getting the part you need if not in store or from the warehouses.
They honor parts warranties and they don’t sit there and find blame on the customer for the defective products.
This O’R auto store is a good distance from me, but they have larger inventory than the other o’r stores. Just call ahead to see if they have the part before driving there.
Wheel works is next door /​attached, very easy to deal with. They did a fast tire replacement for our vintage mustang. Try to use them when you see the online coupons and get service done during the week.

Was waiting to ask «whose duck I gotta sick» (letter scramble) to get some service, was ready to throw a 20 spot over the counter to pay for my $ 7 parts, just to get the hell out of there. BTW there were at least 5 other employees milling about the place.

I’m very neutral about this store. Staffing seems lacking And they never seem to pick up they’re phones. I’ve had ordered parts and even though the computer says they have it you have maybe a 60 percent chance of it actually being there.

This review is for the manager, Jenny, who kindly took the time to install my car battery. I was lacking the tools (and knowledge) needed to replace my weak battery and Jenny willingly offered to help. She showed me crucial areas where acid could potentially corrode the wires and explained preventive measures to take. My day was completely turned around after having had a rough morning. It’s assuring to know that there are still people who are willing to give a hand when one is needed.

O’Reilly stores sometimes amaze me. This one is exceptional.
The headlight switch was broken. Once again one job kept me involved hours later than I’d planned, the sun would go down soon and I was due at another job within half an hour. It seemed hopeless, but I’ve been working on my positive attitude.

Oh, let me check to see if there is an O’Reilly store closer to you that has it (like, two seconds elapse before she has the answer — they were the only O’Reilly’s in all of Oakland with one).»
Was I pleased? I elected to go there immediately while it was still light. As I drove I thought about the tone of her voice and the efficient way that Jessica handled my request. I was asking for a switch for a forty-​five year old car and I needed it out of stock. But for her it wasn’t a hopeless hassle — it lit her up! I could hear it in her voice; she pounced on it! As I drove in the whole end of the lot was full of identical clean white delivery trucks. Wow, the only reason they would have so many is that a LOT of professional shops must be counting on them.
The switch was already out on the counter and I even got a taste of change from my $ 20. I told her how impressed I was. «East Bay rocks!» She smiled. As I walked out a couple of guys were coming out of the stock area rather purposefully, maybe toward the trucks but they were definitely on a mission — my impression was, here it is, Sunday evening and these guys are already jammin’ for Monday morning! Awesome business! I’ll be back. Give them a call — you could have these highly professional Energizer Bunnies on your side, too. I drove home with headlights that night.

The service here is consistently exceptional. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I don’t participate in Unilocal much, but felt inclined to review after the last few visits. Thanks so much!

This review is specifically for their wheel works center. I got a flat just outside this location around 7pm. Even though the place was closed and they were ready to go home, they helped a stranded brother out. The guys that work here, especially Alejandro and Gabe, are not just great employees who demonstrate excellent customer service, they’re good people who show compassion and understanding. I’ve never bothered to write a review of any place before, but I felt a moral obligation to recognize these guys for their work. Outstanding.

First thing I hear when i walk through the double doors, a friendly greeting by one worker and as i walk down an aisle, another worker passing by asked if i needed help.
People here are really nice, honest and friendly. They will help you search up parts you need for you car and help you out with it if you need. No pressure to buy. quick easy and efficient. Lines goes pretty quickly. They have great deals and even reward cards.
If you need help, feel free to ask.

Trying to get help in this place would be easier with a seeing eye dog and getting a question answered correctly you’d be better off with a Ouiji Board. The place is very scuzzy; I had a tire slashed in the parking lot! I’ve written to the company more than once over the last 3 years asking them to clean up their graffiti with responses like «done» but no action. This is a big box store that has no integrity towards its customers. Apparently, it only hires people who hate working there with no people skills or product knowledge. Save yourself the annoyance and headache, go to another store.

My crazy schedule has kept me from writing Unilocal reviews for years now but my positive experience today warranted making time.
I left an auto repair shop feeling stressed and discouraged. I was quoted almost $ 1000 to replace my exhaust. Since I don’t have those kind of funds as a student my dad suggested I go to an auto parts shop to get a plaster to temporarily fix the muffler.
I showed up here to ask help from an associate on what product to purchase. He kindly took a look at my car and provided me with options. In the end I decided to go with his referral to a muffler repair shop.
I want to thank the kind Asian American male associate for his kindness. As a woman I get easily stressed w issues around my car. I am confident I will be back here because of the kind, helpful associates. Thank you.

Very poor knowlegde of parts.
I called for a freaking axel nut cotter pin,
even with the part number they had no idea what it was.
Completely useless.

Nobody here has any idea what they are doing. We ordered a replacement mirror and paid for it, now it’s in the store somewhere but nobody can find it. When asking questions about other car related things, the employees clearly don’t know anything. Two employees got in a fight while we’ve been waiting, just to put icing on the cake.

Me in an auto parts shop is like fitting a square peg in a round hole — just does not work. However at O’Reilly the experience is less intimidating and daunting. A couple of times I’ve been in the store to replace headlight bulbs and fuses. Both times I was treated really well and customer service was knowledgable. Being knowledgable about auto parts is super helpful to someone like me who knows diddly squat about it.
On one occasion Ryan even changed my headlights and checked all the lighting of my car (brakes/​flashing) for free and he was happy to do it! That’s great customer service!
