Andrea has been my midwife for at home IUIs– she started out as my backup midwife to Michelle Borok and as Michelle was never available but I’d formed a connection with Andrea she became my main midwife. As a single queer woman I feel so lucky to have Andrea on my team! She’s so supportive and provides really helpful feedback. She has a really calm energy that makes the process feel so much easier. She’s been so accommodating– coming very late at night when I’ve thought that was the ideal timing. Sometimes she brings her super sweet 5 year old daughter along who is such a pleasure to have around. I got pregnant on the first IUI, and while that pregnancy was not ultimately healthy, I know that if I’m going to get pregnant again, it will be Andrea who makes it happen. I realllllllly appreciate that she is sensitive to financial issues and willing to work on a sliding scale. That makes the whole(very expensive!) process feel a lot more accessible. She’s just great all around. I really really recommend her.

Our journey with Andrea began as the back-up midwife for Michelle Borok, who is fantastic in her own right, when we needed her/their assistance for home IUI inseminations. As a queer couple, the conception process already felt non-traditional and as such, we wanted it to feel the least intrusive as possible. While inseminating at home was not only more comfortable, yet allowed for better timing that worked with my body instead of the opening hours of the doctor’s office or clinic. Despite beginning our working relationship with a text, Andrea helped me and my wife feel comfortable, understood, and supported from the very first meeting when she assisted us with an insemination. It’s been a joy to continue our working relationship as Andrea has been my/our midwife during my entire pregnancy providing prenatal care and support. At a later date, I will write a review for my prenatal care and birth experience. Hands down, Andrea is amazing! I’m trilled to have her be part of my birth and I already know that if given the opportunity, my wife and I will work with her again :-)

Andrea was at the home birth of my first child a few months ago as the back-up/assistant(and former teacher) of our other fantastic midwife Michelle Borok. We also saw her for a prenatal appointment and a postpartum appointment. My husband and I immediately felt comfortable with her and in all our interactions she was both remarkably calm and consistently enthusiastic. During our challenging home birth, Andrea helped keep me grounded by recommending various labor positions, encouraging me to listen to music when my energy was getting low, and giving positive feedback when I felt exhausted. When the baby’s heart beat starting getting a little slow, rather than saying things that would make me worry, she kept reminding me, «your baby really likes it when you take deep breaths!» Her experience and calm communication with our other midwife and doula helped me feel cared for and trusting even in the most difficult moments of labor. Andrea did a postpartum visit with us while our other midwife was out of town, and encouraged me to contact her with any questions. She urged hard-core rest for 6 weeks after the birth, with lots of supportive and inspiring advice about how it would help in the long run. If you’re looking for a home birth midwife in the Bay Area, Andrea would be a wonderful choice~

Andrea was our«back-up» midwife, meaning she was only supposed to be there for the pushing. Things slowed down after she arrived, though, and so she ended up being at our house for something like 12 hours. My wife and I felt super lucky that she ended up being a big part of the birth process. Andrea is sweet and friendly but also super calm and steady. Like a warm, fuzzy Rock of Gibraltar. Our birth got tricky at the end but we never doubted for a second that we were in good hands. She kept us grounded and safe. Indeed, we think it’s pretty likely that we would have ended up with a hectic hospital birth if the team hadn’t been so totally capable. Also, Andrea’s young daughter ended up being present for that whole 12 hours or so, and that turned out to be awesome. She’s a very bright and energetic kid but super, super well trained, so that she added to the positive spirit in the house without distracting or getting in the way. I’m hoping she’ll deliver my son’s baby some day! And if not, hopefully Andrea can do it.
