It might be strange that I’m writing a review considering I live in San Diego, but I was recommended to check this business out by a friend of mine. I searched all over San Diego for an engagement ring, but I couldn’t find a ring that matched the criteria I was looking for. I kept getting inconsistent advice, quotes, and etc from several businesses. So one day when I flew out to San Francisco for work, I decided to check the business out personally.
I was very specific on the type of diamond ring that I was looking for, as it was very difficult to find yellow diamond that met my criteria in San Diego. They had a decent selection of yellow diamonds, but none of them were what I was looking for. They didn’t try to persuade me to find a different diamond or sell me on something else, but instead told me they can search around and give me a call back within a week.
When I got back to San Diego on a Friday, I received a call from the lady who owns the place who advised me that she picked up a few yellow diamonds that I might like and wanted to FaceTime. We FaceTime’ed for a good hour and she showed me all my options and gave me details on each diamond. Right off the bat on the first diamond ring she showed me, I was sold. She hit every detail that I was looking for and was able to provide the GIA certification details to prove it!
So how did I get the ring? I was VERY nervous of them shipping it to me, but was reassured that they do this frequently and would purchase insurance to cover it. They were able to overnight it to my home, along with its GIA certification, and it’s appraisal so I could get the ring insured!

I was very happy to find this family-​operated business. I had gathered a few pictures of rings that my fiancé had indicated she enjoyed in the months leading up to the purchase. I worked with Tony and Diane and they explained to me, in-​depth, about the 4 C’s of diamonds and where the trade offs would be depending on my budget. We agreed on a beautiful diamond that was priced a lot better than other competitors that I had shopped at prior to coming into Phuong Jewelry. To top it off, they gave me a STEEP discount on the setting and band. I would highly recommend you stop by and see Diane before deciding to purchase anywhere else. There’s a reason this store has been around for decades.

I’m so incredibly happy to have found this jewelry shop. My fiancé and I have been shopping around for an engagement ring for ages we just could not find the right ring. I’ve tried many of the jewelry shops in Oakland Chinatown but they were not as helpful as phuongs jewelry. Phuong was so accommodating! She tried to work with our budget and help us find our dream ring. It took us months to commit but every single time we went she worked with us on what we wanted! We had our wedding ring customized here also!!! I can’t believe how much of a good deal we got! If you’re going anywhere for engagement or your jewelry needs it has to be here at this mom and pop jewelry shop.

Diane did an amazing job finding me the perfect ring. Worked with me from the beginning until the very end. She is really easy to talk to and will make sure you absolutely love what you’re purchasing.
There are several jewelry shops around this area to choose from but you’re definitely making a mistake if you do not attempt to visit this one. I’ll be sure to come back for any other necessities I may have concerning jewelry in the future.

It’s taken me awhile to write this review, but I have great things to say. My now-​husband and I were looking for wedding bands. My engagement ring was an emerald cut, and it was difficult for me to find a band that went with that shape. After browsing designs online (lots of pinterest) I knew I wanted an infinity shape band, but it was really difficult to find one in the stores we were browsing. We took a stab at the Oakland Chinatown jewelry shops and popped into Phuong’s. After listening to what we were looking for they offered to custom make what we wanted. Within two weeks the ring was ready! It fit perfect and looked great with my emerald cut engagement ring. They were super accommodating, fast, and we are really happy with our purchase!

Working with Diane was awesome! Me and my fiancé searched high and low finding the right diamond at the right price. We went to the small stores, big stores, online, multiple stores in the gift center, but good thing we saved the best for last. We were referred to Phuong Jewelry at the Oakland Chinatown from our friends. Out of all the experiences, Diane was the most professional and friendly person to work with. She made us feel like we were working with a friend. Not only did Diane find us the diamond we were looking for, She was able to find a better quality and a better price then what we were able to find. My fiancé was able to custom make the setting the way he wanted it and it came out great. It was also priced better then everywhere we went.
