I worked with Benjamin on a legal aid video. He is dependable, creative and hilarious. Benjamin worked up the premise of the video, did extensive brainstorming with me and then delivered a fantastic work product. He put our interview subjects at ease and represented their story with sensitivity and originality. He has a keen intuition for creating emotional, touching videos without veering into the saccharine and overbearing — a difficult balance to master.

Retainer media put together an excellent story-​telling driven video for my non-​profit around a difficult subject that we were having trouble explaining in a concise, compelling way. The interviews Benjamin conducted put our beneficiaries at ease and brought out great stories. The snappy editing, music, and visuals gave us a video we used to great success with our donors. Also– we went through some serious nit-​picky editing thanks to a large committee of interested parties, and Retainer Media was calm, thoughtful and maintained thoughtful direction throughout.

We’ve worked with several video production firms over the past couple years and Retainer Media has been our favorite to date. They’re very easy to work with and much more creative than the traditional production companies that just do floating head interviews. They’re payment system is a bit of a hassle since they force you to pay them half up front. Other than that, they’re a pleasure to collaborate with.

our original videographer flaked at the last minute and we needed a very fast turnaround time for a 3 part video series. retainer media saved the day by filming, editing and uploading all 3 videos within 14 days. while the videos weren’t exactly oscar worthy, considering the intense time crunch, they still exceeded our expectations.

When we met with Retainer Media about creating a suite of videos about Samuel Merritt University, «let your students tell the story,» was their advice. We worked with Retainer Media on creating a video for each of our five programs. The result — unscripted, short and emotional mini films about what it is like to be a student at our university. The project exceeded our expectations. We are now showing them at recruiting fairs and orientations, and they have a permanent home on our website and our YouTube account. Working with Retainer Media was easy and affordable. We feel very lucky that we found Retainer Media and plan to use them for upcoming video projects as well.

We hired Retainer Media last year to make a video about our non-​profit. I had an idea of the type of video we wanted to showcase our non-​profit, but Benjamin and his team were great at guiding us through the process and helping me refine the idea into an actual video. The whole initial plan, coordination, shoot and final production with edits took less than a month and turned out great. I originally found out about Retainer Media at the Foundation Center SF. where Benjamin put on a fantastic workshop, «How to Make a Video for the Non-​profit You Love for Under $ 50.» I highly recommend checking this out — it’s free and a great way to get a sense of what Retainer Media is capable!
I never ended up having the time to make a video on my own, but instead hired Retainer Media to make the video for me. Benjamin is fantastic — he’s creative, funny and a pleasure to work with. Retainer Media meets you where you are and gets the project done. I really appreciated that was willing to tell me what would make a good video, even if it wasn’t what I wanted to hear.
There were definitely some unfortunate hiccups in the video making process that were out of Retainer Media’s control. They went above and beyond to make this right — even though it wasn’t cheap for them to fix a lot the problems. Overall, I would highly recommend Retainer Media!

When it comes to telling inspirational stories that are in any way tied to social justice (or storytelling in general for that matter), Retainer Media is as good as it gets. Expect outstanding customer service and a personalized approach. Retainer Media worked with me to produce a short video introducing people to our organization. Our budget was embarrassingly low and I was convinced that no production company would be willing to work with us for so cheaply. Miraculously, they found a way to work within our budget constraints and create a good video along the way. My only complaint is that they made us pay half up front.
