The best thing about working with Robert is that you get the feeling that he’s really, truly listening to you and your music. When I played the songs I brought in to him, his suggestions were insightful and specific to the music and how I make music. Robert was able to show me some alternate tunings and chord facings that I had not thought of or even approached on my own. Those adjustments let the song’s pulse and harmonic color come through more fully than it had before. His understanding of rhythm and particularly poly and composite rhythms sets him apart from many producers I have worked with in the past. Working with that in mind helped the songs I brought have more of a ‘hook’ rhythmically, and gave each one more individuality. I would highly recommend Robert as a trustworthy, attentive set of ears that can offer great suggestions and observations on your music and how you’re making music.
