tried it before on delivery and didn’t like it, went in there when it was fresh straight off the fire and it was delicious. Word to the wise only go there to eat when you can get it fresh off the fryer. if not… I had the mission street dog with fries and pickles

Came here for a late lunch after going to the Beerfest at the Trappist. I’ve heard of this place in SF so I was excited to try it. Since it was restaurant and beer fest week, they offered a sausage + 2 sides for $ 10. So I ordered the Beer Sausage(with hot peppers as a topping), french fries, and German potato salad.(I wanted the green salad, but they wouldn’t let me order it as a side even though on their menu, it was considered a side so that was annoying). After a 10 minute wait, my friends who ordered after me had started getting their food so of course, I was getting impatient. The cashier didn’t even give me my receipt. She only gave me my order # so when my husband went up to check on the order, the cook didn’t even know what we ordered. He had to reorder it and of course, they got the order wrong. They put hot peppers on my husband’s bratwurst and put his sauerkraut on mine so we swapped our toppings ourselves. After 15 minutes of waiting, we finally got our food. Sausages were good. I liked the spiciness from the sausage and the hot peppers. Fries and potato salad were good too. If the service was better, I would have given them a 4 star.

Second time here and I had an okay experience. Not sure if I was in a salty mood, most likely not, but my experience this time wasn’t that great. After tons of walking and finding places that were closed I decided to go to Rosamunde because their sausages are just great. I got there ordered my usual and realized they put heapings of sauerkraut,(didn’t order any toppings) — DUDE I HATETHATSTUFF– No worries, I just took it off and at my meal. They had their TV running and annoying music playing so immediately put my headphones in, finished my meal and left. Not to mention the babies screaming didn’t help — but hey you can’t blame them. Great food, but please do something about the music. It was hard eating food with headphones in. Haha and next time I’ll make sure I mention, no sauerkraut.

I was hoping to grab a bite at B-Dama, but it was closed for MLK Day, so I hop over to Rosamunde. The guy takes my order, and as I’m paying, I mention that«This is to go, by the way.» With a heavy sigh, he grumbles, «Now ya tell me!» as he starts scribbling notes on the ticket. Well dang, I woulda told him earlier if he bothered to ask. I didn’t realize this would throw a 2-man operation into a tailspin. In the end, I got a cashier with an attitude, a long wait on a slow day, mediocre sausages, and stale, soggy fries. I did appreciate the condiment selection, however. Really, the only reason I’m writing a review is because of a snotty remark from the guy at the register. Shoulda hit Cosecha.

I first had rosamundes when it was catered to work, a day that has been fondly remembered as sausage day. You would typically think that catered food couldn’t possibly taste as good as eating it in the restaurant but I think in this case, I was extremely disappointed when I arrived at rosamundes and the sausages were only average. I got the chicken cherry sausage with grilled onions and sauerkraut and my bf got the cheddar bratwurst with grilled onions and sauerkraut. Definitely not a bad meal in any way, but without a doubt didn’t live up to the idealized sausage day.

Great beer on tap? Check. Hard-to-find meats for eating? Check. Hilariously fun events during the week? Check, check, check! Second time here and I really like it. The Wild Boar sausage topped with grilled onions was delish. Paired with a side of fries that were absolutely divine. And their beer selection never fails — I’d even go there just for a drink. On Wednesdays they have trivia which really tests your knowledge of all things obscure. Grab some friends, head on over, then eat, drink, and be merry!

And vegan food. Baked beans when warm good. Curry ketchup like in Germany. Clean bathrooms. Clean in general. Just a short walk from 12th st BART

We had Rosamunde catered to work for our team lunch. Quality hot dogs. I don’t even know what criteria deem a hot dog high quality, but these hot dogs met a plethora of them for sure. We had an assortment of five sausages to make a hot dog out of – I had one chicken habanero and one vegan apple sage. Chicken habanero had a great kick to it for those that like their sausage a bit spicy, and the apple sage had a touch of sweetness to it for those that are looking for a sweeter taste in their sausage. When catering you get all the toppings(pickles, grilled onions, sauerkraut, and peppers) as well as an assortment of their condiments. The curry ketchup was full of flavor, definitely my favorite. My recommendation is to put both the curry ketchup and garlic-pepper mayonnaise together over grilled onions on whatever sausage you have. Here’s what I think I liked most — the taste was unique to me. I wouldn’t call myself a hot dog connoisseur or anything, but I’ve had my fair share here and there. However, Rosamunde’s hot dogs were unlike any I’ve ever had. Every bite tasted complex and unlike what I’d normally expect a hot dog to taste like. They’re like hipster hot dogs that are yet to go mainstream… and I love it. The only reason I give it four stars is because my understanding of a hot dog costs around $ 5, but these cost around $ 9. Nonetheless, if I only had five words to write a review for this chain I’d say this: Lucky to live near one.

This place is great for beer lovers, beer haters, adults, kids, the gluten intolerant, foodies, people who only eat«normal food», those with dietary restrictions(like gluten), and everyone else. It’s quickly become my go-to spot for taking the toddler to dinner on weekend nights. Food comes pretty fast, I get a beer, she gets fries, and whatever else she will eat. The USDA said that ketchup’s a vegetable now, right? Everyone here is nice, there’s good outdoor seating, and some indoor as well. The beer selection is great, and there are several different types of vegan sausage, either coming on a roll, or a plate with a hearty side salad and baked beans. Simple, easy, tasty. (And note: I had previously said in my review that they were cash only, but the owner just message’d me that they now take cards! Non-cash-having people, rejoice!)

Came on a late Wednesday night(which also happens to be very popular due to Trivia night) looking for a bite to eat. I ordered the duck + fig sausage with grilled onions and sweet peppers, BF got the chicken habanero sausage with grilled onions and we split a large fry. The fries were PERFFECTTTLLYYY crispy! So good. The sausages were delicious(though I favored the chicken more than the duck) and the grilled bread was heavenly! Absolutely loved all the different sauces as well!(Curry ketchup was the favorite). Prices are on the higher end, but you’re paying more for quality than quantity here.

Meat! Sausage! Noms! Came here for dinner last night with a few #foodie friends attending the same conference and we decided to take an adventure into Swan’s Market for a variety of good food options. We decided to order 2 sausages from this place so we could try out a couple of combinations of meat with some of their sauces! This place did not disappoint! Duck sausage… with fig… yes, please! It is paired perfectly with either the curry ketchup or the wasabi mustard. You get two skinny sausages with your order.(which was great because we were sharing) Pork sausage with garlic… my fave of the night! I liked it with the curry ketchup and the garlic aioli! The flavor of this sausage is fantastic… it’s juicy and garlicky and perfection. The 2 sausage plate comes with a salad, beans, and sauerkraut… which can be filling for one person but perfect for sharing! Ordered a couple of good beers to go with our meal, I tried the sour beer that they have on tap. They rotate what beers are available… so choose your own beer and brat adventure when you decide to visit this place! What I like about this market is that you can go with a big group and everyone can order the different types of food that they want. A lot of the menus have daily specials, so you never know what you are going to get on the day you visit. What I like about this place is the variety of foods and the seasonal freshness of the offerings. Don’t just take my word for it… go on your own adventure and give this place a try!

If your a vegan/vegetarian get the tasty apple and sage«sausage» with sauerkraut and grilled onions and if you really want to splurge go all out and get an organic fair trade cane sugar– sweetened root beer to wash it down with! Have to say though, it’s a bittersweet experience for me to see the huge disparities and the new techie scene against the vestiges that haunt«Old Oakland». So if you’re a person of conscious you’ll remember who was there first when a houseless yogi asks you for a dollar while you’re enjoying your gourmet sausage.

Perfect food for pre drinking or post drinking. Greasy, meat tube goodness with a surprisingly cozy seating area. There’s a lot to try, and I won’t list out what’s my favorite because they are all pretty good. There’s also an excellent beer selection with a decent price for the tap. Can’t wait to come here again.

The location: This was my second time eating at this restaurant but my first time at this particular location. Must say this is an Awesome location. Not too far from the bart. If you don’t mind an occasional homeless person walking by and greeting you with a smile or a young adult riding his bike listening to a custom radio built on his bike this can be a trendy spot. The location is near several other businesses that include sports bars and night/day clubs. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Additionally, they are like one of several other restaurants in the same venue so if you have a large party with varied food interests this could be the spot. Customer service: Very warms and welcoming hip staff. They completed their jobs as expected. Food: Fries served nice and hot I can honestly say some of the best i’ve had(golden outer fluffy inner) they don’t skimp on the portions either. I’ve tried the andouille which was not my favorite. I am a lover of juicy southern«hot links» and this was just too dry for my liking. I have also had their wild boar at another location(see review for the telegraph location). But don’t fret they have well over ten sausages to chose from and i will definitely give them a try. They offer sausage plates that can be served with a house salad and chili. They also offer vegan options that looked very tasty. Additionally, they have happy hour in which beer lovers could look to spend no more then 4 bucks for a cold brew. Oh yeah the dipping sauces: they have like 5 different sauces ranging form garlic mayo to curry ketchup. They are all good to me. I does not hurt to give them a try with your papas! Overall the establishment was very clean and their was not a long wait time. But I must add I went their on a holiday and their wasn’t many customers so i’m note sure if that made a difference.

I love sausages. I especially love sausages with unusual flavors and textures. Which is why I can’t stop thinking about the wild boar sausage I had for lunch today at Rosamunde Sausage Grill in Old Oakland. My first visit to this establishment was a couple of weeks ago, when I was in Oaktown for business and needed a quick bite. My usual choice — Miss Ollie’s — takes too long to prepare their food, so I decided to check out Rosamunde next door. It being my first time, I played it safe with an andouille sausage roll with grilled onions and sweet peppers. This was outstanding, and made me wish I’d been more adventurous. Knowing I’d be back in about two weeks, I took a moment to scope out the other sausages on offer — making a mental note to get either the lamb Merguez or the wild boar on my next visit — as these seemed to be the most«out there» and piqued my curiosity. So there I was at lunchtime today. Standing in front of the pretty tattooed lady behind the Rosamunde Sausage Grill checkout counter, unable to make up my mind. Should I get the lamb Merguez, or the wild boar? Lamb soaked in the exotic spices of Morocco, or the hearty goodness of large tusky pigs wandering in the wilderness? Merguez? Boar? She waited patiently, not rushing me at all. But the line was growing behind me, and I heard a couple of pointed coughs. So finally I just asked her. «Oh, definitely the boar,» she said, «and get it with the mango chutney(not on the menu) and sauerkraut.» So I did, thanking her. I’m sure those behind me in queue silently thanked her as well. I did not have to wait long for my roll. One bite and I was in wild boar heaven! The sweet chunky mango chutney and sauerkraut paired superbly with each other and complimented the perfectly cooked wild boar sausages(yes, plural — I think my tattooed lady friend behind the counter snuck an extra sausage in my roll!). With every bite, I could taste subtle spice and fruit notes underneath the rich boar meat flavor, and I took an excruciatingly long time to finish my meal, savoring every juicy morsel and chewing till there was nothing left to chew. I now have a new favorite in Old Oakland, and I can’t wait to try all the different sausages Rosamunde has to offer. The lamb Merguez is next on my list, but I may just cave in and order a wild boar sausage, with mango chutney and sauerkraut of course, and take another trip to wild boar heaven!

I’m a huge fan of Rosamunde Sausage Grill. This location, near where I live, is that place for the husband and I. You know the one: where you’re too lazy to cook and don’t have plans. We always opt for Rosamunde(or Shandong, but we’re trying to turn over a new, not so gluttonous leaf). Located on the outskirts of Swann’s Marketplace, there’s always plenty of seating both inside and out. It’s never super busy, although you will have to wait at times as I do believe there aren’t many cooks in the kitchen. And lastly, It’s relatively inexpensive for a nice, filling dinner. Pick your poison at the front register: sausage plate vs roll, choose sausage type from various options, and then go ahead with toppings if you dare. Me? I get the same damn thing every time. Hatch chili, chicken and cheddar sausage plate. It comes with one sausage, a side salad, baked beans, kraut and I ask for hot peppers(I sometimes gets them, I sometimes don’t). It’s so damn good, every time. The sausage is mild, but has that nice breaking point when you bite in and the juices just flow. Not overly cheesy, just a taste and the texture. I don’t like baked beans. I literally lick the dish clean. Their baked beans are lack for a better analogy at crack status. I’m not the biggest fan of kraut, post dinner, you will not find one shred of kraut on my plate. They turned a few side dishes that don’t impress me much into something I look forward to. Solid local beer list at solid prices, great sausages and great atmosphere. Oh, you vegans — they got you. There is a vegan sausage available. Hip hop usually playing — thank you. Service — I can see how some people would get annoyed. I mean it’s a $ 12 sausage place, take it for what it is. Condiments — curry ketchup, mustards, they got it.

I finally made it to a Rosamunde Sausage Grill. Originally I wanted to try the one in SF in the Mission due to their bigger beer selection But since I was on my way to Eat Real, I decided to stop along my walk to the water. I got the knockwurst and a pint of the Local Brewing Angel Island India Red Ale. Total came out to $ 15 for a nice snack and a brew to get me through the walk to Jack London. There were a bunch of other options for food and drinks in this neighborhood so I may be back here.

I came here specifically for currywurst, one of many foods I’ve been craving since I left Europe. This was a fairly nice walk-in restaurant. Not super fancy, but it felt welcoming and was clean. There weren’t many people when I showed up either. The staff were all nice people. They have a extensive menu for all kinds of sausages you can order and of course, a lot of beer. As for the currywurst, this was the first time I’ve gotten a currywurst where I’m supposed to eat it like a hotdog. All of the previous currywurst I’ve ordered in various places have been lots of slices of sausage drenched in curry. Sometimes bread is included. The curry and all the toppings(onions, tomatoes), were very good. I felt it was a bit lacking in curry sauce though and the portions did not satisfy my currywurst cravings. I had one piece of sausage that actually had a lot of curry flavor. For the rest, you could taste the curry, but it felt more like a thin layer, or a hint of curry rather than filling your mouth. The amount of curry was enough for the onions and tomatoes though. I’d definitely come back to try their other sausages and snacks, but probably would not order the currywurst any time soon.

Beers and sausage? Sign me up coach! I came here twice after racing with my dragon boat team, Project Floaters. The place is located next to a few breweries, so street parking can be kinda tough to find, especially on weekends. They have quite the variety sausage here ranging from regular beef and pork sausages to things such as lamb and even boar. A dog will cost you about $ 7-$ 7.50 depending on what you decide to get, and each comes with two toppings. My personal favorite combination so far has to be the wild boar with grilled onions and sweet peppers. Honestly though, you can’t go wrong with any of the dogs here. They are just so damn good. The fries with the the special condiments go perfect with some sausage. Try the curry ketchup or the garlic pepper mayonnaise! What makes this place even better is that they carry a lot of local craft brews. Between 3−7pm everyday, you can order an IPA for only $ 3. What a deal. If IPAs aren’t your thing, most of their other brews are ~$ 6. Overall, great place for food and a drink. Would definitely come back if I was in the area! Notes: Cash only!!! They have an ATM in the store if you really need it though.

Hungering a hot dog, I recalled Rosamunde’s mention in the East Bay Weekly Unilocal a few months back, and I gave them a try. There’s street parking, as well as a lot a block away. A placard out front mentions their daily happy hour. The sausage menu hangs above the counter, as well as a separate beer menu on an adjoining wall. Uncooked sausages are displayed in a case. Wooden benches inside with two flat screen televisions, and also outdoor patio seating is available. Lots of old time photos on display of how the sausage business used to be. Alternative rock music played. We both went for the knockwurst on a french roll, topped with sauerkraut and grilled onions($ 6.00). The wurst was delicious, crisp on the outside, juicy inside, but being slightly burned. The sauerkraut was relatively mild. The big negative is that they don’t accept credit cards, only cash or paypal. Other than that, don’t come here expecting authentic German food, but a variety of quality sausages and sides contrived their way.
