The one down side to this place is the parking. The food is good and fast. The price is what is so crazy too me I got the sweet pork sandwich and a pastor taco for under 5 $ the portions were way bigger Thani had expected, in fact I could not fish the sandwich witch tasted great. Definitely worth waiting a few minutes for a parking spot.

Love the Vietnamese sandwiches and their tacos al pastor. Sounds like a weird combination but it’s helllllla good. The owner is super nice. He gave us a sample of the spicy prawns, which were also delicious. You have to try this place. It’s really economical. Cash only.

Husband: So what do you want for dinner? Me: Hm Saigon is still open, a combo banh mi and 3 tacos! Yes, Saigon is our go-to spot when we are simply feeling lazy, and also don’t want to spend more than $ 20 on a meal. It’s such a treat to be able to get Vietnamese sandwiches and tacos all in the same spot!!! Husband also approves their burrito!

A place where you can banh mi AND tacos?! Sign me up! I tried the bbq chicken banh mi, which rivals with banh mi ba le. I actually prefer this bread because it isn’t as crusty(more chewy) and makes less of a mess. The fish and shrimp tacos are huge pieces! Both are fried, so they’re on the heavy side. But awesome deal for $ 2 each! Pollo taco is good as well for $ 1.50. BF enjoyed the asada torta, was basically like a banh mi stuffed with asada and dressed with lettuce and avocado. You can’t beat the price for the amount and quality of food you get! And super friendly owners! CASHONLY.

There was a modest low key place on San Pablo and West Grand in the late 1980s called the Saigon Deli that I used to go to often. I do not know if this is related to that place because after the earthquake they moved downtown but were quite transformed and after that I lost track because I left the area. They had Che Thung for a dollar that I lived on and have never found since… This was the first place I had goi cuon(spring rolls) or Sriracha sauce(in those big red rooster bottles.) and they really introduced me largely to vietnamese food.

The owners are very nice and kind especially the man he talks to his costumers with respectful and he jokes alot around with them which is a good thing because some places the owner don’t do that but he takes his time to greet you with a lovely smile. If you’re a first time costumer he will hook it up with free tacos just to welcome you to his place.

No longer must one make the hard decision when hunger strikes! Why not have two of the best kinds of food under one roof? It’s a good concept and they actually make good on both food types. I had the fried shrimp taco, which was really good with shredded vegis and a white sauce that went really good with the breaded fried shrimp. On the Vietnamese side I had the sweet pork Bahn Mi. It was as good as my all time favorite down on the 1900 block of East 14th. Thai iced tea was a perfect compliment as I got deep into the jalapeño slices of the bahn mi. I will be returning the try more of the menu items.

Tony’s the man. He does just feel like he’s my uncle inviting me for a meal. He always come in smiling. This place is hands down the best. I feel like Oakland has two cuisines down on lock, Vietnamese & Mexican food. This place has BOTH. And the food comes out fast af. Seriously in an out in 5 minutes. The bread is usually fresh, nice and soft… doesn’t cut up your mouth. Filled with meat. I recently tried the tacos, SOFULLOFFLAVOR. This is the spot. Vietnamese sandwiches even better than Ba Le. Tacos as good as 22nd. CASHONLY

«Don’t judge a book by its cover» is what comes to mind when I think of Saigon Deli. I used to drive by all the time but was apprehensive to go in. However, after seeing all the great reviews on Unilocal, I had to go check it out for myself. Let’s be real — the location is not in the most glamorous part of town but the eats are the real deal! Vietnamese and Mexican food under one roof — what an unlikely pair! Satisfy all your cravings at one place. Get your BANHMI fix with a side of Al Pastor taco! Tony(one of the owners) is so welcoming & a great conversationalist. If it’s your first visit, he will probably offer you a small sample. Next thing you know, you are ordering half a dozen tacos to go and maybe a couple BANH MIs hahah! Food is pretty cheap and very TASTY. Can’t wait to return to try other menu items! Congrats to them on getting a shoutout in the NYTIMES recently. That’s pretty cool! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area — do secure your valuables though… just saying! CLOSEDWEDNESDAYS. CASHONLY.

Really enjoyed my meal here. Parking kind of sucks but the owners are so friendly and hospitable you wouldnt even care. I got the regular burrito and it just looked like a super burrito. The price i paid for the burrito was $ 7.00 and its way cheaper than the taco/burrito trucks around with a larger burrito and it comes with avocado. The tacos are great and again much cheaper than the taco truck at a whopping price of $ 1.50. The bahn mi sandwiches taste just like ba le’s so its legit. When you are ordering the burrito they tend to add a lot of beans so, i suggest you order no beans or little beans.

This spot right on time, the family that owns this place was so nice. The wife greeted me and made suggestion. Then I ordered what I thought would be a normal seafood plate. I was wrong, I ordered the seafood plate with rice. The husband brought out this hug plate of seafood on a huge portion of rice with salad. The asked me if I was ready for this dish, he explained that it was his best dish and he had won neighborhood awards for it(I thought he was joking) till i saw the wall full award for the dish. So tried the dish and IT was CRAZY good. The flavor a were out of this would, the plate didn’t lack a thing. More seafood than I could handle. The husband then brought his special salsa.(Chilli mixer) heat that brought a smile to my face. You have to check this spot out, when passing by it, it doesn’t stand out but the FOOD speak for and service speaks for it’s self. Be careful you will get HOOKED!!!

Saigon Deli is amazing! From the food to the owner make sure you get into this place an experience the food! The tacos are Fantastic, delicious, etc… Just get them and find out for yourself… We try to make it a regular tradition to get the Breakfast Burrito on Saturday morning. A hearty sized meal that will keep you going way past lunch. The taste is a perfect combination of spice and flavor to get you tastebuds excited for the next bite! When in Oakland go to Saigon Deli!

Je’Taime. I can’t find a single flaw with this place. Aside from limited parking, and the tables sometime being a little sticky, I love this place. I used to scour through the bay area for the best taco trucks until one day, with a team of my co-workers, we visited this quaint bundle of two restaurants in one. My life has never been the same. I bring everyone I know here at least once. They can make their final decision after their first few bites to determine if they are as much a fan as I am. But I dont think I will ever find such a magical taco place like this where I can get both my thai tea with boba and four authentic el pastor tacos in the same setting. God bless you, Saigon Deli. I’ll see you soon.

I’m really sorry for lowering my star rating because I just love Saigon Deli Sandwich! For their superior tacos, their luscious banh mi, their low prices, and the alliance of Vietnamese and Mexican cuisine in one place but… THEBURRITOSARENOTALLTHAT. There I said it. Not all that as in not great – as in, ya know, slightly below average. Burritos are really important. Sad Panda. :( HOWCANTHISBE? Ok, so here’s where having 2 cuisines in 1 place starts to create problems. My buddy had an AWESOME Al Pastor burrito, but myself and 3 other people had ‘rritos that were really badly balanced(think several bites of rice & lettuce), and they weren’t even wrapped properly! THEENDSWEREJUSTFOLDEDOVER– they didn’t tuck the ends into the body… I unwrapped the foil and was like W.T.F? OURTHEORY Our theory is Tony made the Al Pastor burrito just right, and the two Vietnamese ladies(God bless ‘em) made the 4 others badly. I don’t like rolling dice with those odds because that’s 2 out of 3 for a bad burrito. THEMORAL Stick to the Tacos and Banh Mi folks! They’re phenomenal!

These are the best tacos in norcal! Who would have thought one can get the most flavorful and juiciest tacos in the same restaurant that sells bahn mi sandwiches?! :O The story behind the Mexican/Vietnamese fusion is pretty cool where both food owners teamed up and made unique food combinations from both cultures. I didn’t get to try the the fusion food but the al pastor taco was my fave and you can ask for the hot sauce which kicks it up a few notches. We met the taco master Mr. Torres(really friendly guy) and upon waiting for our tacos, he gave my friends and I each a free taco: D :D :D Nothing gets to my heart like scrumptious tacos! :9 Will be returning back for their tacos again!

Tom taco. Ca taco. Pastor banh mi. This intermingling of Vietnamese and Spanish words looks and seems weird, but when it comes down to it, it’s all the same good food. Saigon Deli Sandwich is genius. It combines the quintessential dishes of both cultures and fuses them all into one shop. I had the banh mi dac biet(combination pork). Everyone knows that the key to every good banh mi lies in their French baguette. It needs to be toasty on the outside with nice, soft chewy dough on the inside. Their bread was on point. It was also smothered with pâté — another key component to a good tasting banh mi dac biet. And honestly, there should be no complaints because this little guy is practically free at $ 2.75! I also sampled a variety of their tacos — al pastor, pescado + carne asada. My favorite was the pastor. Had a lot of flavor, the salsa was good, and again, it was a steal at $ 1.50. Saigon Deli Sandwich takes two of my favorite things, and does them very well.

This place is amazing. Why are you wasting time reading this review when you could be there? Right now? Tasting the amazing? This place has Mexican food and Vietnamese food in the same location and you can even mix them together. Try the BBQ pork banh mi or the terrific tacos. You will not regret it Note: they are closed Wednesdays. That makes Wednesdays less awesome.

I had just checked Ankle Bracelet and it had a fresh Charge so it was safe to go out. I checked my Unilocal bookmarks and Saigon Deli Sandwich popped up. So I jumped into my Whip White Rabbit and rolled to Oaktown . SDS is located in a small Stripmall on International and 14th avenue . I parked my Whip and rolled in to SDS . I was greeted by one of the Owners Tony he was very friendly and welcoming. I perused the Menu on the Wall and ordered the Shrimp Seafood Plate, Fish Taco and a Carnitas Taco . I paid Cash and grabbed a Table . I was brought a Cup of Water and some utensils. The Décor is very Basic, More of a Blue Collar Clientele like me lol. Tony is very Social I had a great conversation with him, very nice guy. My Food arrived 15 Minutes later . The Seafood Platter was a nice portion . The Flavor’s were Fresh and Vivid with a little Heat, Next up were the Carnitas and Fish Tacos Both were Pretty damn Bomb Dot Com so Yummy . I also ordered a Thai Ice Tea. It was really Tasty . I paid by Cash and rolled out. I will definitely return and eat again.

This place is amazing.(TMI time yall) I had my special lady time and was harassing everyone in my life for banh mi but my bf didnt want it and I remembered this gem combo I bookmarked so we jumped here. The bbq pork banh mi I had sang so beautifully to my craving that the prostitutes walking around outside began to bounce beautifully down the street rather than drag their feet as I took ridiculously large bites. Carne asada was on point and I am one of those Bay Area cats that is constantly buying, eating, and cataloging tacos for judgement so hopefully I have at least a smidgen of expertise to offer you. But the stars of the day have to be the torta and the shrimp tacos. A torta on a vietnamese baguette? I AMDYINGHERE that was so ingenious! But the tacos man, the shrimp tacos!!! I will be coming back for shrimp tacos! Minus one star for the lack of effort on smoothies. It is only powder for the strawberry and it was sad and chalky and the pearls too were sad and old and mushy :(

Omg so good! ! Al pastor tacos were super juicy, flavorful, i highly recommend it! They were so good i ordered 2 extra Fish taco — deep fried and very crispy on the outside! I appreciated the non –sogginess, you can flavour to your taste with limes and hot sauce Shrimp taco — pretty heavily battered, pretty much like the dish taco but more batter and less meat Tony was super nice and welcoming, the staff even served slices of oranges to everyone which was refreshing on this hot day! So thoughtful! This place is worth a try and has family friendly seating, great service and great food, what else can you ask for?
