I just rented a space today with StorageMart. The manager Tysean was really helpful and friendly. She answered all my questions thoroughly. She even let me change my space mid contract when she informed me that there was a space that was more suited to my needs.
The space itself is a little old and aged, but as long as there are no leaks all will be well, it doesn’t have to be beautiful, it’s just a storage space. I will update after move in. Thanks for a great start Tysean!

Tishone and Eden were a great help. I was referred to this place by my movers. They had good deals and new units.

I have used StorageMart for the last 2 years and they have already been extremely helpful and reasonable!
On my last move, I upgraded to a much larger unit. Dana, Tishone and team were beyond helpful at troubleshooting issues with my movers as well as making sure I got the best price possible!

So i was supposed to write this last night while it was fresh on my mind. But so I just moved out of West Oakland and needed to move a bunch of stuff into storage. I checked out a few. Came here. Tishone was the manager and she wax very concise in explaining the terms and conditions. Showed me the property several units. I rented a unit a 10 by 12 for a really fair price. I am happy.
But there was just one tiny problem that occurred but the it was immiediatelly addressed and as soon as it came up the owner took swift action and fixed it. Its great to know that they’re businesses and their owners who do care about each and everyone of their customers.
I think the manager deserves a raise.

The place is very clean. Tishone was very helpful and was very conscientious and professional about keeping in touch and making sure our move in went without a hitch. I agree with one of the other Unilocalers that it would be ince if they had a little bit longer hours,. Got a great deal too. I would recommend them to my friends.

This place is great.
Dana and Tishone were really awesome and made the rental process easy. The space is clean and easy to navigate. The 99% off deal makes it really good.
I only wish the place had later hours to access the units. This is the only reason they don’t have 5 stars.

Dana, a front desk staff person at this facility was extremely helpful during a stressful period. I had rented a unit and had allowed someone access, who became an unsafe person. Dana and the Regional manager, Roland, assisted me by going out of their way to help me contact the police and then allowed me to move to a different storage unit. They did their best to make sure that my Storage Mart experience was a safe and positive one.
I wasn’t able to give 5 stars because there is a lack of cameras in the hallways to monitor things. The unstable person was able to bring a crowbar onto the property and vandalized my unit but there was no camera footage to be able to identify her as the perpetrator and have her barred from being on site. There are cameras in the elevators and main entrances, but throughout the building there are very few if none at all.
Storage Mart gets an A in customer service but a B-​/​C+ for too narrow hallways and lack of security measures. Thank you Dana and Roland for your help.

Great place to store your stuff and reasonably priced.
The staff there are easy to work with and very helpful. 4 stars instead of 5 because on a few occasions the roll up door or elevator wasn’t working. Other than that, a great facility

Sebastien is great the company is not. Doors are frequently broken and takes forever to fix. Meanwhile its a warren to navigate with a cart full of stuff. Also be prepared for the 15 day notice that you have to give which I was unaware of they hold you accountable for that entire month! they are continuing to bill me even after I filled out paperwork and vacated unit. BEWARE!!!

October 2012 is when I signed my lease with them. Sebastian was very helpful and showed me a couple different units as I wasn’t 100% on what size unit I would need.
Long story short I used them for over a year and finally moved everything out. I have to say that for the most part this is an ideal place to store your things. But communication if you have two names on your lease sucks the big one.
Even longer story short they have carts to use to move things in and out, freight elevators and stairs. And sometimes a confusing map of units to wander though in order to find your unit.

What makes this a positive experience for me is the quality service of Natnael, the manager. He always exceeds my expectations and runs his business extremely well. Always a pleasure Nael. As long as you’re running the show, I’ll be onboard!

This Unilocal review is specifically for Sebastian Gray, Assistant Manager, Storage Mart. He was professional, courteous & extremely helpful despite being the only person on duty during a busy Saturday. I came in to sign up for my unit only to realize I had reserved the wrong size. This occurred while I had two movers on the clock & a truckload of items that needed to be unloaded. Sebastian expedited his process & found me another unit quickly & efficiently. I appreciated that he took the time & empathized with my situation. I will definitely continue to use Storage Mart because of the customer service & quick problem solving response provided by Sebastian Gray.

This seems to be a good p l ace to put those extras that clutter your life. The people are nice the prices look reasonable.

Shout out to Brandon, who was professional, respectful, and immensely helpful. Brandon not only directed me to the best supplies that would protect my delicate package, but he also helped me pack it. Not only that, he went online to compare prices between the Post Office and UPS (believe it or not, UPS was cheaper). He went above and beyond. He took ownership of my business when all too often employees pass-​the-​buck. He’s a rockstar.
I also got a 20% discount by «checking-​in» with Unilocal Mobile (one can get the same discount — at least for the time being — by texting the number on their website).
Fair prices, great service, and easy parking. Highly recommended, at least with someone like Brandon at the helm.

Been reading Unilocal forever and its taken till this company for me to actually sign up and post a review.
This is a poorly run business that I would recommend not using. The staff is nice, but I had my belongings at this facility for years only to find out that my $ 1000 Persian rug had been infested and completely destroyed by bugs.
I went back and forth with the company (specifically a manager named Rowland) for nearly a year and in the end they said they can’t repay me for damages cause I didn’t buy insurance with them.
WTF. In my opinion its their job to protect my goods. Otherwise why store my belongings with them.
Dont use this company

I rented a storage shed from Storage Mart with a cheap introductory rate. Now i know why. The place is poorly run. The freight elevator doesn’t always work and the management is awful. I have been there twice to try to pay for my shed, only to find a «be back in 15 minutes» sign that really means be back in 30 minutes or more.
I made the trek to Oakland at the beginning of the month to pay for my shed and let them know I’d be moving out. There was the infamous «15 minutes» sign. I hung out for 10 or so minutes, then went down the street to get coffee. 30 minutes later, the sign was still up and I had to leave.
When I finally get someone on the phone 2 days later to pay and give notice, I’m told it’s MY FAULT that the place only has one employee and they can’t regularly be around to actually help out customers.
I’ve rented from numerous storage places, and this one is the worst. The manager is rude, unaccomodating, and runs the place with a skeleton crew which means no customer service and a time consuming nightmare while you wait around to pay or get any other issues with them resolved. I would highly recommend renting somewhere else – somewhere that cares about the people giving them their money!

Since Berkeley no longer has any U-​Haul rental locations, I came to Storage Mart where they rent out U-​Hauls very courteously. The people who work here seem nice and personable — I would definitely use them for storage if I needed a storage solution. This time however, I just needed a truck to move the contents of my apartment across the bay! The Storage Mart + U-​Haul combo is a genius idea though.

If you’re like some people in SF, you’ve had this happen to you: «WTF? My couch is ½ an inch too wide to fit in my new apartment?!»
I love my couch. It was pretty, comfy, and cost me a pretty penny. I wasn’t ready to hock it off on Craigslist for next to nothing. I needed storage FAST.
I open the Yellow Pages sitting in my now-​empty Oakland apt and look for the biggest ad in the book: No frills, cheap storage – better prices than you’ll find in SF. Called them and got a quote of $ 65/​month to store my massive couch and lots of boxes. They’re right off of the West Grand Ave exit in West Oakland, near the Bay Bridge/​Macarthur Maze.
Awesome. Couch disaster narrowly averted.
This used to be Economy Self Storage, but it got bought out in 2006 by Storage Mart, a national chain. The new management is upgrading the facilities: they’ve already improved the lighting and added a keypad entry system. The new staff has been consistently friendly and courteous. The facilities aren’t as tidy as Public Storage, but I’m getting the impression that’s going to change with the new renovations.
