StorQuest Self Storage on Shattuck ave is a very quality, clean, and affordable storage option in Oakland. I chose them because of the convenient location — from the freeway and my family’s house — and I’m very happy with my choice. After a long day of moving out, cleaning, and then driving back to Oakland it was a real relief to have such an easy move into the storage locker. I bought a lock that fit on site, I packed up the carts available, took the elevator upstairs and moved in. Very simple process.
Mr. Ferreira, the property manager, was incredibly friendly, professional and coordinated my storage unit efficiently. He also gave me $ 1 for the first month! I’d recommend this storage option to anyone.

I have always used Extra Space Storage, but I doubt I will again. AJ is great! Customer service guru, this guy. He was so helpful getting everything squared away that I will have a hard time deciding to use a different storage facility, as long as I’m in the Oakland area.

I was happy to get a unit at this convenient location but their hours are really tight. I need to access my unit in the evening and a 6pm closing time is kind of absurd for people who get off work at 5. They open at 9 so there’s no possibility to go before work either.

Awesome experience, wonderful service, fair prices. I was able to move my things in with the help of their driver. Paid in advance. They called to check up with me on my account before charging any additional money. Moved out with ease. Ill be coming back!

Don’t waste your time going anywhere else. Listen, moving sucks. The only thing that can make it better is a person like AJ, who manages this location. From day one, he’s been nothing but an absolute pleasure. After a long day of heavy lifting and commuting, I got the storage location 15 minutes before it closed. Without batting an eye, AJ offered to stick around as long as necessary, helped us organize stuff into the unit, and never once rushed us. His adorable son happened to be around that day and brought us water several times as we shuttled furniture from the uhual into the unit. I don’t think any customers are expecting this level of support, yet AJ provides it each and every time. He even remembered my name 6 months later!
To hit on the actual property its self — I’ve never encountered a cleaner storage unit. The hallways were well lit and dustless, the unit was completely clean and sealed off.
I’ll never go anywhere else, and neither should you.
This is the first Unilocal review I’ve ever written, and for good reason. AJ deserves all the praise I can possibly give.

I’m writing this review specifically for AJ, the store manager. AJ gave me some really great help and service from day one. Unfortunately I had a negative experience the second time I came in due to a representative that they’ve gotten rid of since then, but AJ made everything all right before I knew it. I’d return here. And it’s a prime location– right at the Berkeley/​Oakland border.

This is MY storage place. I have lots of experience with storing my belongings and I can affirm here that this is the BEST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I have had ever. Nate and A. J are the most dedicated, professional and responsive team I have worked with.
I was moving overseas to Europe after 16 years in the Bay Area. Needless to say this was quite some work. I had visited a few storages place in the Bay Area before choosing StorQuest. I spoke with A. J and met Nate in my first visit, I signed up because of the customer service; plenty of push carts of different sizes available, super large elevator, very safe, plenty of street parking space, boxes and all I needed to do my own packings and shipments (POST OFFICE is 3 blocks away), even have cafes and food around, easy access with HWY (I come from SF), free truck available… Both Nate and A. J followed up on calls, always answered the phone, took the time to work out with me the continual downloads and uploads of my belongings for shipments to Europe etc… I was not an easy customer to work with especially when my storage was more like my second house and I would pack and ship at the same location… It is safe, easy with a great team who operate the place. This is like my second home in the Bay! Try it.

The staff here really helps you out when possible. When backing up to a platform for unloading/​loading (doing so is optional) the manager, A.J. was happy to help guide me without my asking. The facility is easy to move around in with large complimentary carts to move around without hurting your back.

I’m now using this facility for a second time and have had a great experience in both instances. The people who work here are really nice and helpful — both times I was in and out of the office within 10 minutes, and they’ve even offered to help me get boxes out of my car. They always have a bunch of pushcarts available, and the elevator is more than adequate for fitting in tons of stuff in one load. I was initially worried about there only being the one elevator, but for the many times I’ve been in and out, I’ve only had to wait for others to finish using it once.
My only complain is that I wish they had longer hours (being open until 8 would be great) and that they had a larger loading area, but for me, it’s a small price to pay for the location, which is close to my work. This place definitely fit my needs.

I made a reservation before I went, and I reserve a closet size unit. When I got there, the manager was really nice, he helped me to take all my boxes out of my trunk, and then he told me that i don’t need a closet size unit. So he gave me a smaller unit that all my stuff could fit right in. This saved me 50 bucks, and he also gave me a free lock! Definitely recommend this place.

Excellent facilities. Needed a place to store stuff for the summer. The manager was really nice and helpful. He hooked me up with a unit that was listed at a cheaper price for how big it was. Overall great service. Would use again.

I was closing a non-​profit store that had been in business forever and needed a truck and storage locker in a hurry… then I found StorQuest! I wouldn’t have rented from here if it wasn’t for Nate. He was so helpful, professional and a no problem kind of guy! The process was painless, the truck was clean, and the service was excellent!

Beware… as an FYI, its 9:25 am and I have 2 movers (that I pay by the hour), waiting for Storquest on Shattuck.
They advertise they open at 9am…
I called the central number and spoke to a very apologetic woman, but she indicated that she could only try to call the manager.
Its now 10:15 am and not opened
1 star for the nice lady on the phone.

Nate helped us unload our boxes from the truck although he didn’t have to! I forgot to tip him, so I wanted to pass a 20 to the manager the next time I was there but he refused it asking me to go write a review on Unilocal instead. Great customer service, id use them again in a heartbeat.

Got myself in a bind while moving out and didn’t make it to the storage unit before it closed. My rental car was due in the morning so my friend had to drop me and all my boxes off, before storquest opened, so that he could return the rental car. We found a place to stash the boxes till Nate got there and opened up shop.
I was so relieved, as I revealed my stashed boxes to Nate, that he didn’t show an ounce of judgement. He quickly helped me get my boxes inside and in a storage unit returning me to a respectable state and minimizing embarrassment. His humble confidence and assurance let me know that my boxes will be safe till next semester.

Exceptional customer service. Nate and A.J. went all out to help me out of a U-​Haul pickle. Another location shafted me on a truck rental, and U-​Haul corporate sent me to StorQuest promising that they would have a 14′ one-​way truck on short notice. StorQuest doesn’t do one way moves, and all their trucks were rented, so U-​Haul corporate was running me into dead ends.
A.J. and Nate came to the rescue. With no chance of making a buck, these guys still got on the phone and found me another location nearby that had what I needed. And they did it like it was no big thing. I can’t thank them enough for the help. They are a credit to the u-​haul organization in a city that has consistently terrible u-​haul experiences.

We love this place! We survived the harrowing 5 day drive from Chicago and just wanted to unload the truck and relax. Anthony made it happen quickly and easily! The price is right and you can back up your vehicle right to the dock. The elevator is huge and moving carts are readily available.
Anthony is always very helpful, pleasant and professional; he’ll go the extra mile for you!

My friends and I rented a U-​Haul van from here. Friendly and quick, the service here was a big plus here. the U-​Haul van we rented however wasn’t in the best of shape, with mirrors cracked and unadjustable. However, can’t really complain because of the price! (it was a 19.99 to rent a truck, with an extra $ 1.09/mile charged).
