Tacos La Sorpresa

This review is for the new shiny taco truck in the car wash/​tire place. I’ve had tacos from many taco trucks and this is way down in the bottom of my list. This is the bottom where things just don’t have a chance of coming back up. I ordered 6 tacos (Al pastor, chorizo, and shrimp) and a burrito with carne asada. I was told by the owner that his food was #1 in Oakland so my expectations were high that I would be blown away by the food.
The tacos were laid out very nicely on the paper plate with the usual sliced radish, lime wedges, and pickled jalapenos. The chorizo tacos didn’t taste bad. It tasted like chorizo should taste. It was also a plus that there were crunchy pieces of chorizo.
The Al pastor taco was something else. The meat tasted old and rancid. It was disgusting but I couldn’t tossed good money away ($ 1.25 each taco) so I ate it. Next came the shrimp tacos and these were okay. Shrimps were cooked well but lacked flavor. The burrito with carne asada would have been ok had the meat been fresh. The meat also tasted old but was not as bad as the Al Pastor. Overall I think this place deserves 2 stars. 1 star for the food and 1 star for me not dying from eating the food.

Tacos la Sorpresa is in the big O tire parking lot at the corner of foothill & 35^th St. they have a shiny new food truck with nice shiny laminated pics of food offerings: tacos (1.25) burritos (5) tortas (5) camarones cocktail (10) camorones al mojo de ago (10).so it looked promising.
i was greeted at the window by a 5 year old with an ice cream mustache, dripping ice cream all over the counter. dude wasn’t in the mood to take my order he looked very puzzled. mom took over
sampling:
–asada burrito (5):
–huge burrito, biggest i’ve ever seen. seems everything in the kitchen sink went into this burrito: very salty chipolte-​tasting gristly beef mix with a cohabiting side of sour cream, raw onions, lettuce, mushy beans, undercooked rice, and burnt beef tidbits.
–no radishes nor chips, just some hot salsa.
frijoles refrtoes:
–one person operation
–friendly service.
–questionable return by me.
–fish/​shrimp tacos, 1.50 may be this sometime.
