Oh you might want to check Oakland Vision Center for complete review of Dr. Gill and the entire staff. Well Dr. Gill was alright, although she never explained why I need to take a medicine for my eye, or how to prevent such problems in the future. I can live with that since it wasn’t that bad. But still… I wouldn’t go there ever, any person I know will never ever go there. Why? Instead, why not find a professional who is centered, polite and well balanced? The main problem here is not the Doctor really, it’s the front desk staff. They definitely are in the wrong place. Maybe Disney might fit just perfect. They seem to act nice but they are not qualified for that position and don’t know how to be one either over the phone or in person, they ask you to present every document that does not relate to your vision insurance or method of payment for that matter. But the trick was, they will find out who pays the most premium for the visit you just made and forward that claim either to your medical insurance or your vision or both… you guys were trained well in that area! Maybe appropriate customer service training needs to be provided for these kids, or maybe they just act the way they act for a reason. They seem to create a comfort zone that they call… I don’t know what. And ‘Nicole’, oh my… she is rude, disrespectful, ignorant and ruthless; typical symptoms of an aching and unbalanced characteristics of an ignored hence immature individual for any job. She will make your day a nightmare.(Even over the phone). In my opinion, If the staff is not professional, something is wrong with the entire practice. Period! which includes Dr. Gill for not seeing this and assigning a professional workforce.

Probably my favorite doctor of anything, ever. I had a recurring case of blepharitis(swollen eyelid). This most recent time, it was really bad, and I foolishly waited weeks before seeking treatment — it swelled up so I could barely open my eye. When I finally decided to see someone, a friend referred me to her eye doctor, Dr. Gill. I called and had an appointment for 10am the next morning. It’s a great office, with friendly and helpful clinical and administrative staff. I’ve had LASIK, so I can’t really comment on the regular glasses part of the store, but it looked nice and had a wide selection. Definitely a more medically focused practice vs. a mall eyeglass store, too, so I’d feel a lot happier coming here for annual eye exams or for dealing with any eye health issues. They’ve got a nice waiting area, but unlike many doctors, they actually schedule appointments so you aren’t spending a lot of time waiting around — they value your time, too. Dr. Gill is amazing — incredibly competent as well as friendly, and very good at communicating what she’s going to do(I mean, poking around at your eyes is kind of scary.), what is wrong, and how to treat it. She happens to also be one of the world’s experts in my specific problem(speaking at conferences, etc.), which is kind of overkill, but nice — sort of like getting your high school physics homework graded by Richard Feynman. I would have no problems recommending Dr. Gill and this practice to anyone seeking eye care.

My original tip from a check in here is under Oakland Vision Center and it was for Dr. Gill who works out of this office. I recently got my eyes checked here, and it was the best experience vision screening I’ve ever had! Dr. Gill is a cool doctor, and she knows her stuff. I appreciate her approach, and she has a great sense of humor. She made me feel comfortable, she listened to my concerns, and I agree with another Unilocaler — she ‘makes the visit fun’. I was going to get my vision checked at Costco, but first I called Oakland Vision Center. The staff ran my insurance and told me that I would be covered for a vision screening for glasses, and would only be charged a copay — great stuff. Bonus, I got a same day appointment. The staff are nice and honest which I appreciate. If my face looks busted in a pair of glasses — someone needs to tell me and not just try to make a sale, seriously. Though I did not end up buying glasses here, they have a decent selection to choose from. I recommend Dr. Gill, she’s great.

Dr. Gill is AMAZING!!! not only is she super-smart and efficient, but she took care of eye problems long neglected by my previous doctors. She is incredibly thorough and addressed the stye i’ve had for years on my eyelid, the«floaters» i occasionally get and gave me the correct prescription for working on the computer all day and reading books at night. She even has cool office art(Kehinde Wiley for those of you in the know…)
