Hopefully the young lady can get your order right. Its okay food but $ 25 for a plate of 10 tacos and one beer? Come on. Come as you like come as you are.

In an effort to diversify my Fruitvale taqueria portfolio, I ended up at Taqueria San Jose for some Sunday eats. And although nothing was bad per se(actually not true, the vegetarian burrito was pretty bad, but then again, I’m the dumb ass for ordering a vegetarian burrito), nothing was great. The place could use a good deep clean. It’s definitely a little grimy, taking that hole-in-the-wall status seriously. Friends ordered the tacos and the torta, while I opted for the veggie burrito smothered. I do appreciate the complimentary chips and salsa bar, although close to the end of the night, it was definitely not the cleanest territory. The burrito was a fail. The sauce was soupy, the vegetarian burrito was not a vegetable burrito but rather a bean burrito. YIKES. I should have asked, but a ginormous bean burrito is not anything anyone really wants to mess with, am I right? Throw some peppers in there, onions, anything? The torta was large and solid, but lacked that queso fresca, a bean spread or any other additives to take it to another level. It was pretty much chicken and avocado sandwich. The tacos were a similar sentiment; juicy meat in the tortillas with some cilantro and salsa, but lacked a robust, spicy flavor. Cheap eats for sure and next time I’m avoiding the bean burrito like the plague.

Their burritos are huge!!! And I mean HUGE for just $ 8!!! You cannot get that price anywhere nowadays! Reasonable price is not what makes me a regular customer, it because it’s good too! I always get the super burrito.

When I was 15, I would cut class on a weekly basis to grab tacos here. That’s how good they are. Alright, I was going to cut class regardless of whether tacos were going to be there or not, but this is still one of the best taquerias in the Bay Area, period. There’s a tiny parking lot in the back, but street parking has always been easy for me. Tacos are still cheap — only $ 2 each. They’re more expensive than the truck, but they’re also about twice the size. Two tacos will easily fill you up, and the burritos are huge. A regular burrito is $ 6, and a super burrito is $ 7. which is actually cheaper than El Novillo. The alpastor is fantastic here, and the lengua is super tender. They’ve got a sweet salsa bar and you can help yourself to chips. Beer is always ice cold, and the food comes out fast. If you’re looking for legit Mexican grub, look no further. There’s a reason I’ve been coming here for 13 years!

I had a carne asada super burrito. It was at least 50% larger than the one I got last weekend at Pancho Villa. On a Wednesday at 3:30, the salsa bar had only three salsas(hot, green mild, and tomatoes, onion, and chopped jalapeños). There were also pickled jalapeños, carrots, and onions too, but there were very few carrots when I was there and it was never replenished. That said, the burrito was very generously filled with meat. Two tiny pieces of gristle, but otherwise, flavorful and satisfying and nicely balanced with beans, rice, guacamole, crema, and cheese. I forgot to ask for grilling but was surprised to open it up and discover it was grilled. The flavors were vivid but not overly salty and the green avocado salsa from the salsa bar was very good on it. Pancho Villa has chopped cilantro and lime wedges and I like to layer some cilantro with the salsa and squeeze a couple of drops of lime onto it, but overall, I’m a very satisfied eater. I will definitely detour my BART trips to get off at Fruitvale and come in at least once a month.

Came here after the Raiders game and the place seemed happening. It’s kind of a hole in the wall mom and pop kind of setup. I had 2 carnitas tacos which were delicious and a super shrimp burrito. The burrito was fat and had rice, crema, rice, guacamole and cocktail size shrimp. Both were good as was their red salsa that came with the basket of chips. I would eat here again if I came to another game.

What a horrible place. I tried this place twice. The first time I ordered nachos, and a torta. Both items were bad filthy and soggy. The nacho chips were as stale as the chips at the salsa bar(The salsa bar was just as bad) The stale chips was drowned. I was eating soggy, stale chip nachos. And the torta, gross!!! The bread was drenched in grease, my first bite was just… soggy. and the tomatoes and lettuce was no help. I took a few bites, smelled the meat, and thought not even a dog should eat this. I try not to throw food away but, it went in the trash. I went back to give it another try, this time trying the breakfast burrito. I ordered it to go, but I decided to eat it there at the resturant. The only thing positive about the burrito is its size for the price. I opened the burrito, and again, all the food wanted to fall out the tortilla because of how soggy they made it. The beginning portion of the burrito was watery beans. I didnt see the egg until the food fell threw the tortilla. Within two bites my hands were covered in grease. I ate the burrito with their stale chips at the salsa bar since the tortilla wasnt holding together. Oh, but they have fast service.

Solid authentic Mexican food. Al pastor meat is good on tacos and shrimp a la diabla is my go to dish. Don’t expect fine décor but free chips and salsa. Also their cantaloupe juice is very refreshing!!!

I love this place! It’s just a few blocks away from my house, and it has a very delicious and extensive salsa bar. I make a point to always go here before an A’s game to pick up cheap, delicious burritos for everyone. So yummy! Also a good spot to sit down and watch some soccer with people who actually understand what’s going on.

Solid tacos. have eaten here many times over the years. Prices are right and tacos are good. You can’t wrong… parking sucks and place could use a face lift paint and furniture…

I’ll admit: I’ve never tried anything but their tacos. And they are excellent. The carnitas — so crisp and juicy. And their fish tacos are tasty. My friend always has the carne asada, which he says is very good. The free chips are crisp and fresh, and there’s a nice variety of salsa. I usually ask for a small bowl of radishes and limes — and generally get two whole sliced limes and a huge serving of radishes. One of these days, I vow to try a burrito or a quesadilla.

They fell waaay waaay waaay off! Got a Carne asada super burrito last night right before they closed at 10. I usually order chicken but had a taste for Carne. It was so disgusting! The meat was so stringy and tasted a bit sour, like it had sat out all day. Really no flavor and poor quality meat. Took two bites and had to Toss it! I don’t like wasting food but I was concerned for my health and frankly the burrito wasn’t worth the calorie intake. Never again!

This place is good? It USED to be, What happend to the old San Jose Taqueria? God theyre meat has no more flavor, at first i thought i had came at the wrong time last week but after i came for a second visit today they really showed me what bad cooks they have. I arrived around 10am this morning hoping i could get some delicious tacos, so i ordered three. Once i got home to eat em after the first bite I knew that these tacos were trash. They were so nasty no flavor no nothing, so i threw them out and cooked some food at home. I could have bought tacos somewhere else for a cheaper price and actually enjoy them. So dissapointed, I wonder if they changed management? They need help maybe ill see if theyre hiring !!!

Best tacos in the neighborhood. Definitely get the carne asada. My friend loves to get cabesa«head meat». Free chips and salsa, cheap beers, patio outside… totally down to earth and flavorful Mexican cuisine. Order two tacos at a time so they are hot when you bite into them. Tacos– $ 2/each!

I’ve been coming here for at least 19 years for sure, I always get the same thing… a Super steak burrito, re-fried beans, extra salsa verde(i could live off the green sauce literally with no complaints) Hands down the best in the Bay!!! I feel I am versed enough to say such. This burrito is basically the size of a babys leg and for 7+bucks its well worth the price. This is at least a 2 meal deal kinda thing, eat some now, get the itis fall asleep and then wake up and eat the rest even if you were still full from the first round. I’ve tried both kinds of chicken and those are both too. I also swear by the salsa bar which has endless chips and refills. Someone said there is a smell, its usually only meat cooking so if that’s what they meant I guess they’ve never been in a good taqueria before. Ive used this as the standard in which to judge other taquerias. Once or twice they;ve messed up my order but it was only whole beans as opposed to re-fried, I also get the Melon Agua Fresca which is the most heavenly thing I ever drank, im sure its angel tears no im convinced its made of angel tears lol. Portion sizes? that doesn’t exist here so if you’re on a diet this would have to be a cheat day Fav!!!

This place deserves my love! Another one of does places that I keep coming to. The food is always good and I can’t get enough of the chips and salsa. Today was simple tacos please! I only have 3 yes I said it 3 tacos lol but on my defense they are huge. I get one sasa one alpastor and one lengua that all I need to get full. Plus they make fresh squeezed orange and carrot juice blend that I love :-) happy eating Unilocalers try this place out and let me know if you agree.

You want big portion for a great deal then this is the place! They don’t skimp out on nadaaaa! This is the 1st and only spot I can’t finish there burrito. There quesidilla when cut in half is compared to a full one at another spot. Self serve chips, no controlling here, I load up bigtime. It’s like walkin into a saloon in there, i admit there is a stench I can’t figure right when I enter, suggested get it for to-go take home. This is real deal grub for the big appetite. Parking is a pain. Props to the homie cooking it up in the back, always rocks an A’s hat, he gets down. This guy really puts his heart into the food, I can see it, that’s what its all about, this is why the food comes out bomb! Big ups. I’m a customer.

This place is related to the Taqueria San Jose in San Rafael, not the one on Mission in San Francisco. I had an al pastor(spicy pork) and lengua(tongue) taco, no cilantro, which came with some onions and the same orange-ish salsa( ) along with a bowl of radish and lime wedges( ). I didin’t see a vertical spit for the al pastor, but it was juicy and had a flavorful marinade. The lengua was super tender and had good beefiness which seems braised out in many examples. Free chips and good salsa bar including pickled jalapenos and carrots.
