Good burrito(cajun chicken) ok service. Not very clean on the inside. The cashier tried to use the same gloves to handle my food and money :-/The burrito itself was good, but next time I might just play head to Chipotle instead.

I have wanted to root for this little shop across from Chipotle for so long, but I have finally had one too many bad experiences… I am so sorry to have to write this bad review, but I felt it was important to let people know what they’re getting into! The flour tortillas were so stale I could barely fold my taco over. When I ordered the chicken tacos, she didn’t ask if I wanted cheese or salsa or anything and when they arrived, they were empty with some chicken sitting at the bottom, sprinkled with a few onions. The chicken was so dry I had to pour some of my beans on them to get through my lunch. My side of beans was a bigger helping than a full can of beans you buy from the market, but it was put in paper container where the bottom gave out and half the beans spilled out the sides before I got to them anyways. The guacamole was really not worth it. Not to mention, it was the same price for 2 tacos as Chipotle gives you for 3. Good luck!

I can’t believe a regular size burrito woud cost almost $ 13 and it wasn’t made to my specifications. If you’re going to charge those prices at least pay attention to the order !!! And to top ot off, the customer service was mediocre at best. Doesn’t take away from the fact that their food is slammin !!! #surfandturf #steakandshrimp #delicious

I give this place 3 stars for the food, and half a star for quick service(don’t expect extra smiles though) and being close to my apartment. So that equals 4 stars on Unilocal’s no-half-stars-allowed system. I’ve only been twice so far, and got a super carne asada burrito, and a regular spicy pork burrito. Not amazing or anything, but not bad at all. The meat was pretty good, I like the salsa(though it could be spicier), and pricing seems pretty standard to me for a Bay Area taqueria in a trendy neighborhood… Not cheap, but not horribly expensive. I’ve seen higher prices at a lot of places. A friend tried some fish tacos too, and liked them. I guess it could be a bit cleaner, but my hands and mouth are going on the food, not the tables, so I don’t really care. I’m not a fan of lettuce in burritos or tacos either, but their regular/super burritos don’t have it, and I can always ask them to not put it in for other stuff. I’m kind of surprised by the one and two star reviews. Maybe it’s a hit or miss kind of place.

I had the super steak burrito Good sized burrito, not the largest. I started to write my likes re: the actual burrito and came up with.. nada. So, this is demoted from a 3 to a 2. I would have liked it had the meat been hotter and actually had a distinct taste. As it was, it seemed smothered in the sour cream and sapped of the anticipated lime and cilantro charged vibrance. Overall, nothing was really distinguishable about the burrito components. That said, welcoming people in a clean environment tells me to try this place again, to see if I am wrong… as also do many of the reviews which show positive experiences.

Burrito shop home of the two-star burrito! The staff is really rude and surly. I paid 1.65 for chips and salsa. When I asked for Pico de Gallo they were super rude about it. I mean that should be provided when you pay for chips. Also the place is really dirty. All the tables needed to wiped down. They had old food bits on it. There are way better taquerias nearby.

Can’t believe I haven’t done a review for this place! Anyways The Burrito Shop is a solid go to when I want alil more than just a traditional burrito or taco. My absolute favorite burrito here is the Honey Chipotle Chicken. I must vouch for this one and that shrimp taco they’re always advertising with the picture on the counter. Delish! Sometimes it can get a bit crowded and the staff can get a little behind in cleaning the tables but the food is always fresh and I’ve loved my selections so far. I’m only giving 4 stars though because years ago I had a very non impressive shrimp burrito and not too recently had a steak burrito that could have been a little more tender. Trust me, honey chipotle chicken!

First timer here and was very disappointed. It looked like it was going to be a great place to try Got a couple burritos to go. Inside looked dirty and small. And the Quality of the burritos were just at average at the most. I thought it was going to be a lot better. And they pretty expensive for below average burritos. I have had a lot of burritos in my life and this was just horriable i got the Chicken Burrito should of been called rice burrito with it having no meat barely In it. How can a business price a burrito so high and then just have no meat in it! Im very disappointed with the place, i think it can do a lot better. Management should think bout lowering there prices and maybe make sure they us a a measuring deceived or something to make sure each burritos like the chicken ones have the proper amount of meat in it. So your not just eating a wrap with rice.

the ranchero shrimp burrito was pretty good. it was the saturday special, and it was like $ 1 less than the usual. for a burrito though, it was pretty pricy. 2 burritos here was over $ 17! there were about 5 shrimp in the burrito, but the sauce was tasty.

My favorite burrito. I always get steak and prawns without lettuce add spinach. They no longer have regular and large burritos, so the one size is now between both sizes. I was very satisfied as usual

The only reason I am giving this one star instead of none, is because the burrito actually tasted ok after the issues. 1. No employee here washes their hands. They handle money and food with the same dirty hands continuously. 2. I asked the woman putting the chips on my plate if she could use gloves(she had on one glove, but used her dirty ungloved hand to collect chips) 3. Because her English was limited, she could not understand me. She called for another employee that also was not wearing gloves. I made the same request of her. She looked at me blankly and proceeded to get the chips with her bare hands as well, then remarked, «I wash my hands». 4. After going back and forth with her for 5 minutes while my burrito started to get cold, she finally washed her hands, put on gloves and got the chips. She then proceeded to speak to another customer in Spanish about me and my complaint. I am sure she did not think I understood, but I did«stupid lady» she said. 5. I did not tell her I understood, but rather asked for the name of the manager. She told me she did not know. I then asked for her name, so I could call and complain. She told me she could not give me her name. I explained I needed either her name or the name of the manager. She finally told me Jose. I am still not sure if that is correct. While I do not know the name of the rude/nasty(literally) employee, I know she was here today(Thursday 4÷30÷15) at the time of my visit 12:15 pm. If you happen to be in this restaurant at this time any day — keep an eye out for her and her nasty non-hygienic ways.

Ehhh! I’m so disappointed! I used to really love this place. I decided to hit up my old fave and was shocked that the food is so blah now. The prices have always been high but so WAS the quality. My steak and prawn burrito was bland. The steak was tough and many of the pieces were cooked fat! The $ 25 I spent at this place tonight, will never happen again. Oh yeah, the cashier was rude and literally rolled her eyes at every question I asked!

Since I wrote my first review, The Burrito Shop now has compostable to go containers! I’d like to give 4 and a half stars. I think this is a great little place.

It’s the Burrito Shop. They make flavorless food that nobody is impressed by except my brother(still trying to check the genealogy and make sure we’re actually related after hearing that one) and serve it with the shittiest attitude you can imagine. The woman who is usually the cashier literally treats you like you are asking her for a favor by patronizing the place that she works at. Everything that can be eaten here has been disgusting since I was 6-years-old, but it seems like the customer service is gaining speed to outrun the food as the worst part of coming here. I was doing a job nearby a few months ago and wanted a burrito so bad I couldn’t think straight. Hoping to avoid the time constraint visiting Chipotle would impose on a young playa, I went to The Burriri instead. I mean, all I eat on a damn burrito is rice, black beans and cheese, so it really shouldn’t be something that you can mess up at all. Wrong. Flavorless, bland, tortilla thick, cold and uncooked. I could practically see the ladies pushing it down the assembly line, one shovel of slop after the next, until eventually being rolled by someone at the end. I wonder if it practically tore apart as they tried to fold it, considering the tortilla was the thickest, coldest, and most impenetrable thing since Ann Coulter.

Time: 11:17am/56°F intermittent cloud Purpose: Wanted to do a suprise visit but, client was out for the week. Drove over to TJ’s lot saw Chipotle then saw TBS. Went here instead as Chipotle can been had almost anywhere, its a chain. Ambiance: There’s no sidewalk seating in front. Inside mostly kitschy décor with a few frame pictures and art pieces. Place holds no more than seven tables with three for party of 3 or more. Rounding place off starts with self served soda fountain, condiment/utensil stand, trash box. Counter with pick up side and cashier window. There’s no music or TV for entertainment instead grab a table looking out the window or people watching is best. People are so embarrassed by eating there most takes it to go instead. I saw at least 5 – 6 orders to go. I wondering its better to have it counter to table hot and fresh. There must be something here people don’t like, I haven’t found out what it is yet. Staff: Two girls one cooks/prep other cashier and packing. The one that cooks and prepared food refuse to give me a smaller box as the full size for tacos looks bulky. This was benefitting them, cost less than regular version. Either she didn’t understand or didn’t want to give me one. Although ESL may have play a role here so, I don’t blame them. These two don’t even crack a smile so serious looking. Smile for once would you? Its good for your well being. Cleanliness: Grade B-, saw garbage piling up not dump in trash can. Tables are unsteady rocking back and forth. Not one but, several as I had to get up move around in able to find one stable. Condiment station like lime wedges, jalapeño slices, lids, radishes, carrots, containers lids all over the counter. They see it just didn’t take the initiative to attend it. Eats/Drinks: Two Baja style fish tacos $ 7.50, better deal to get two anyways. They end up giving me a chicken super taco value at $ 3.50 on the house. This was possible because they over charge me for the fish tacos on my CC. Showing a displeasure from out of no where I was presented. It was just ok nothing special or that, I never had before. The lettuce were a bit watery seems like rinsed and chopped up then garnish on top. These two fish tacos are prepared in front of you on a skillet. They are the stars of this place. Good size tacos with plenty of fixings certainly no skimping out on ingredients. Fillet itself lightly batter with golden yellow crumbs not oily to the touch at all. Sour cream, diced tomatoes, and cabbage really makes it drool worthy on any given day, I’ll eat it. Products/Services: Burrito classics, favorites, gourmet burritos or bowls, tacos, seafood, vegetarian, breakfast burritos, add ons/sides, soda, bottle jarritos, Mexican coke, Kern’s/Welch’s juices. Choice of flour, spinach, tomato or wheat tortillas. Homemade corn or flour tortillas available. Find them on FB, Unilocal,Instagram. Catering available special number 510−538−1189. Punch Lines: In/out within 6 – 7 max, stuffy at times, pleasing flavors, unfriendly, no smiles/thank you, snooty service, occasional spotty service, nothing out of the ordinary, possessive, takes plastic, call in orders, lackluster ambiance, light bites, lakeshore ave business district, residential/business, street parking, donation/fund raisers solicitation. Tradeoffs: The offerings and ambiance is no different from a food truck with couple of tables and chairs out front. Standard and basic however, their Baja fish tacos are consider their signature feature item. Taco Tuesdays are 2/$ 5. Final Thoughts: Seems like Lakeshore ave is the happening area of Oakland. Within this one street there clothing, cafes, grocery store, banks, cellphone carriers, convience stores, CVS, gas station, 580 on/off ramp, salon, nails, baby/kids shop, bars. You can even spend a whole day here as there are plenty to do. This shop is the only one out of all their other locations that does breakfast burritos. Will be back to try breakfast burrito since its the only location to serve it.

I Love the Cajun Chicken Bowl. Can’t believe the serving portions at this place for the price. I’d take this place over chipotle any day.

I want to support local but this is my second sight annoyance here. First time breakfast burrito took forever to be acknowledged and took forever to make, then it leaked juice on me. Second, ridiculous pricing: wanted veggie burrito w cheese instead of honey chipotle and she upcharged me instead of subbing. $ 9 burrito, I’m finding more reasons to go across the street, come on, prove me wrong. –oh and plastic bags!!! Tried again, third time. Rude cashier, unacomodating requests and pricier than Chipotle. Eh, I’m done.

I only order the grilled fish tacos which are probably in the top 3 best fishie tacos I’ve ever had, EVER ever. Moist tender fish topped with lettuce and avocado and some kind of aioli. I’ve had a couple other things on their menu, mostly consisting of burritos which are standard but good. My husband said the regular tacos are awful and horribly dry, so maybe it’s best to steer away from those.

Support the under-dog. Boo to giant conglomerates like Chipotle, owned by none other than McDonalds. I’ve been coming to the Burrito Shop for the longest. They make great quesadillas, which by the way is perfect for an after-school snack. My favorite is the salmon burrito with garlic-lime sauce and add-in shrimp in a spinach tortilla. It’s really flavorful and super-filling. Salmon is always fresh and grilled perfectly. I especially enjoy the endless supply of salsas and refillable sodas. They also provide cups for iced water. Pretty cool. Support local businesses! The people united we’ll never be divided.
