Clean, friendly, nice atmosphere, and pretty good food! Excellent option in the area.

I came in right at closing, but they still served us. I ordered supreme nachos and my boyfriend ordered the burger, fries and drink combo for $ 5.99. It was a pretty good deal including the 10% off for any $ 5+ purchases from checking in on Unilocal. I waited too long to eat the nachos, so it was super soggy. Wish I ate them right away. It was still good though. See my picture! It’s a work of art! I think my boyfriend liked his meal. He helped me finish the nachos. I ordered a medium, but the portion was huge! It took a while for the food to come out, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is also very clean. I like the bathroom décor. They also have a nice restaurant seating area. I will give a real review next time when I eat the nachos right away. Overall, I would come back again!

I work with food and all I could think about when waiting on a simple order of chicken nachos for 20 mins, is ways they can improve. The 2 workers were friendly. But extremely slow. As far as the food, the chicken could use some more seasoning. The portions were nice, they don’t cheat you on cheese or any other ingredients. I would return and try something different.

The food was surprisingly good(reviews from associates were not great), and the staff was friendly. The portions are plentiful, but I didn’t understand how the person I was dining with received their order of fajitas before my nachos… service could be a bit more efficient. I will definitely go back, I’m anxious to try their crabs which are only served on Saturdays. **I appreciate cheesy nachos, but not soggy chips!

Many different nacho choices to choose from. Lots of other choices for people that may not want nachos. Fresh ingredients. Lots of flat screen tv’s. Very clean. The young man that serves the food and refills the drinks is very nice. I’m loving the fact that there is a black owned business in our community. And don’t only take cash. They were gone for a long time but I’m glad they’re back. :)

Came here after months of driving by it: however it looked like they where forever closed. Looks like today was my lucky day: They finally open after 3 months closed based on the Owners response in here: however their Credit Card server is down!!! Based on pictures I’m sure the food is good, or at least sounded good for a second. To my surprise the credit card machine is down!!! Makes me wonder why they closed in the 1st place???

This place is steady and a nice addition to the neighborhood. the warm greeting & lovely setting are actually better than the food, but the nachos are okay. I wish it wasn’t so easy to identify the Costco ingredients and that things had a little more style & flavor. But I’ll keep going and try the specials and see how it goes. i am happy to have them!

The Nach! The Spot! Cheesy Goodness! I waited over a year for The Nacho Spot to open. My ever curiosity being stroked by the«Coupons online,» advertisements. I was so excited for it. When I was finally able to munch on some tasty nach,’ I was a little let down. I thought they’d be something to call home about, but honestly, they’re only as good as ballpark nachos. Using the same cheese, the chips quickly get soggy. So dine-in and eat quick. That’s my only real peeve. The other ingredients were a great fit but if you’re anything like me, soggy chips are a bad base. I hope that they either change to a different style of cheese. Maybe melting cheddar onto it, or putting the melted cheese on the side for to-go orders. They serve beer and wine, have a few TVs, and have some of the friendliest owners and staff. I’ll return to watch some sports and chow down on some ballpark style nachos again soon. I’d like to I’ve them 4 stars based on their service, but the food needs to match it. Hopefully soon!

So me and some Fam went here on Saturday for the VIP happy hour. It was chill. I guess I’m being a little bias b/c I knew pretty much everyone there. It was my first time coming here. The staff was nice. The place was clean. The restroom was clean. Now I didn’t eat there… just tasted. The nachos were ok, but you really can’t mess up nachos. The drinks were on point, but I always thought Hurricanes were blue… not white. But it all went down the same. My folks had the fried crab and shrimp. I mean it looked really good, but like I said, I went there to have drinks. All in all, I’d go back b/c of the Fam. This place has GREAT potential so I hope it goes well for them.

This COULD be the bomb spot. I mean it really could. They have a nice clean inviting space with some tv’s for the games and Lord knows folks in the hood love what they call«Mission style burritos» and stuff. It is not difficult to compete with the likes of Las Palmas Super Burrito. They could have snatched a whole lot of market share from Charlie and his Las Palmi. I don’t pretend that this place or any like it would serve authentic Mexican food. When I go to a spot like this(read– the Las Palmi of the world), I expect good, cheap Americanized Mexican ‘Style’ food. Like someone said earlier though. The nachos are like something someone from Nebraska would call home and say are nachos. Mine were bland and gloppy and tasted like tomato paste. I’ve gotten better nachos back in the 7th grade from the ‘Westlake’ 7 – 11(You know you’re from Oakland if…). I also had a burrito. It was phat. We like phat AND fat but this had WAAAAYYY too much ground beef and nary anything else. Yes. You know we like the hook up but not at the behest of everyting else. Bottom line. I was looking forward to seeing these brothas and sistas succeed in this business and maybe take a little business away from Charlie and his Las Palmi but the food was bland, and just not very good. They supposedly have soul food and stuff like gumbo and stuff sometimes and I’ll admit it looked good when I saw pictures of the soul food– but I haven’t been inclined to try it out– yet. On the times I went, the folks behind the counter were nice(It’s a Family Afffaaiiirrrr. I think). Tighten your game up Nacho Spot. Heck copy exactly what the other places are doing and lay off the cans a bit and you could have East Oakland sewn up. Just sayin.

This place is oookay. Not great, but considering it’s in the hood it’s pretty good and a better choice than Jack in the Box. It would never ever stay in business if it were on Lakeshore or College Ave. My son has basketball practice on 86th Ave. We go to the Nacho Spot a couple of times a month. He usually gets the Monte Ellis. It’s definitely kid food. They put everything but the kitchen sink on the chips and I think a lot of it comes from a can. You can make these nachos at home, but it just so happens to be more convenient to go to this place. I ordered the vegetarian chips once and they were out of guacamole. How could a nacho restaurant be out of guacamole? Really? Its a very large restaurant but I never see more than 2 or 3 other people seated. It has TGIFridays or Chili’s type décor. The staff is nice, but something is not right. I can’t put my finger on it. I worked in restaurants from the age of 16 and throughout college. So I know restaurants. These people don’t really seem to know how to move around in a kitchen. They don’t really even seem to know how to take an order. They ask about every individual item. Who does that? The whole point of having signature items like their Monte Ellis is so diners have an easy choice, the kitchen can process multiple orders and the management can curtail food costs. Like I said before, there’s nothing special about Nacho Spot. It’s not the worst place but far from the best.

NO!!! steer clear and don’t waste your money! I’m upset because i feel like I wasted my cheat day. I was actually eager to try this place out but was unpleasantly surprised :(I mean who doesn’t expect to eat nothing less than AWESOME nachos from a place called«The Nacho Spot» right? Long story short I ordered the El Macho Nacho(and the items are buffet style behind the counter pre prepped not a bad thing just a side note) there are literally 3 seated tables of 3 – 4 ppl ea. in the place so why does it take over 30 min to make nachos? Anyhow eager to eat my food I open the box to an abundance of toppings… happily i dig in and… my chips are soggy and the chips are from like Costco or smart n final or something, the beef was flavorless the chilli tasted from a can HORRIBLE chilli! Just bad. I can say they aren’t skimpy on the fixings and the customer service was great nice and friendly ladies(accept for the long wait) the place its self is VERYCLEAN with a nice layout BUT you should live up to your business name if anything else those nachos should have been on point. PERIOD.

Very nice friendly staff. However the«nachos» are reminiscent of the kind you would eat in a midwestern airport circa 1986. Canned cheese sauce, green onions(?), olives(?), tomatoes(?)and no beans! I was informed that they did not have guacamole this visit. Feel like I dodged a bullet on that one. I would not go here again when I can roll up towards Fruitvale and get REAL nachos at El Farolito, Penca Azul, San Jose etc.

Yummy! My 1st visit and I am happy to say I’ve found my new fave spot to get Nachos. Before I went there, I expected a hole in the wall place, that had«okay» food but I was PLEASANTLYSURPRISED! The NACHOSPOT exceeded all my expectations. CUSTOMERSVC Staff was very friendly and waited patiently for me to decide on what I wanted. After I ordered, the lady that took my order washed her hands with soap AND put on gloves before preparing my food. An other customer walked in after I ordered and wanted her to talk to her friend on the phone and tell him about the menu. I expected her to say no, but she did not! She didnt give any kind of hint of annoyance, but simply took the phone and talked to the customer. After awhile, she very nicely told the person on the phone that she would hand a menu to his friend and she could relay prices to him. I thought, WOW, no attitude. Thats great! RESTAURANT The restaurant was VERYCLEAN! There were lots of booths to sit at and the 2nd room looked ideal for renting out for small gatherings. The lady fixing my food confirmed that they do rent it out for different events, like birthday parties and such. The food was placed very neatly and the area was clean where the food sat. It all looked fresh and delicious! There was a «sneeze guard» that was very high up which is always a bonus because you never want people talking over the food that’s laid out. The MENUSELECTION was large. It included NACHOS, BURRITOS, TACOS, ENCHILADAS, QUESADILLAS, HOTDOGS, BURGERS, SANDWACHESANDDESSERTS. TASTE I ordered the Monta Ellis Macho Nacho. I wanted guacamole but the lady helping me said that the avacados on the market lately have been very weird/bad. They are really hard and when you sit them out to wait for them to get soft, they end up going bad. I totally agreed becuase I’d had a similar experience. I appreciated her honesty and the note that the guacamole would have been fresh. My nachos looked so good that I had to pop one in my mouth in the car, before I got home. I burnt my lip! hahaha They were so delicious, I ate until I was stuffed. There was no way I could finish that entire NACHO alone. It was loaded and very tasty. The ground beef appeared to be seasoned, not salty, but it didnt really matter because with all the other things on there, my palate was very pleased. Overall, this was a great plate of NACHOS! Next time i’ll be sure to take a pic before I dive in! MYNEWFAVORITENACHOSPOT!

We finally made it to the nacho spot after anticipated their opening knowing they beenthere since December. We arrived and didnt know what was on the menu. We look and were greeted by Andrewnet who was plesant and had a contigious smile. She recommended the Monta Ellis nachos and boy im glad she did. I also ordered a appletini since they offer several different mixed drink and a happy hour that ends @ 8pm. When the nachos arrive, they were filling, scrumptious and loaded with toppings. I highly recomend nacho spot because they have different items on their menus. Theyrange from nacho, burritos, hamburger and fries. We are def coming back

Okay, I sat on this review for more than a month. It pains me a great deal to write this review. It pains me to write any review that is less than, ‘Yeah, I like this place’. Read my other reviews. I really like Oakland. I really, REALLY like Oakland. Warts and all. But this place just made me squinchy faced and sad. I am holding out hope that The Nacho Spot reads my review and understands that any criticisms are not out of malice but out of heart-felt feeling that a Black owned business in Oakland can/will/should succeed. First the pros of this establishment… The staff are amazingly friendly! They all said hello to us, asked my son about his game, were super sweet and encouraging when he told them his team lost(again). They brought food out quickly and offered condiments and extra napkins(eating is a full contact sport for us). Restaurant is large and very clean. Decorations on walls were very cute. Tables and chairs were very comfortable. It was nice to see that there are two dining areas and one can be rented out for parties or other functions. Very Cool! We came to The Nacho Spot after my son’s baseball game. We had received some coupons quite a while ago during the interminable wait for this place to open. My husband was stalking this place! He’d drive by at least once a week just to see if the ‘Coming Soon’ sign had changed to ‘Now Open’. LOL! We ordered quite a few items as we had coupons and they have a rather extensive menu. Ordered: Monta Ellis Nachos(rating: 2) Nacho Supreme(rating: 2) Chili Cheese Nachos(rating: 2) Chili Cheese Nachos(rating: 2) Burrito(rating: 1) Eaten: We tasted everything but regretted most of our choices. A big portion of most plates were left untouched and I took home my nary touched burrito figuring I could jazz it up with some homemade pico de gallo, jalapenos and what not. Uh, I left it in the fridge and didn’t think about it again until it went into the trash. Lord, I hate wasting food but that thing was INedible. Everyone, even the one who liked the food, was dosed with Pepto when we got home. Lots and lots of Pepto. I am not sure what I expected from a nacho place… I guess just plain edible food. The food was not horrible according to the spouse and two out of three kids. But I and the other kid said it was like eating nachos at coliseum. Granted the portions were big but the food was not tasty so that was a waste. Canned cheese, flavorless ground beef, not very tasty bulk Sam’s Club tortilla chips. I can do that at home, thanks. I love Oakland but I can’t give this place my official Shop/Dine Oakland stamp of approval YET. I have a mom/son day soon and the son wants to try this place again… keeping my fingers crossed for ya, Nacho Spot.

THe Nacho Spot has been in the works for awhile and has finally opened. one gets an idea of an hole in the wall with a few counter seats for take out. nope, it’s a 2 room operation with lots of tables, flatscreens, sports jerseys on display and a standing area for making tacos, burritos, the kitchen is in the back. diverse menu: tacos, burritos, enchiladas, nachos, dogs, dinner items, burgers. eats: –beef hot dog(2.25) ¼ lb. dog came with mustard and ketchup in a small bun. no other condiments seen. beef dog tasty. good value –flour taco with shrimps(2) 2 medium sized grilled shrimp with cheeses, salsa, cilantro, freshly made, interesting taste –flour taco with beef(2) grounded up beef? with cheese, salsa, cilantro. crumbs: –pricing seem high but ingredients fresh, food made to order, not microwaved. –black family biz, very friendly, patient to explain menu, offerings. –burritos $ 8+, probably similar to las palmas and charlies’ las palmas’ godzilla burrito(way too big for me) –parking lot very small. be aware of heavy traffic if walking on 98th or san leandro bl. –besides franchiese, not many eating places in east oaktown. –menu offers adding cheeze to everything.
