This is a cute place. I liked the teas and the food samplings. However, the atmosphere could be a bit warmer and cozier. Prices are a bit high for what you get. Not bad though, check it out for yourself.

Wonderful place to have a social tea sitting with friends and/or family. I tried the mango tea and it was a exceptional. The flavor and aroma of the tea was unforgettable. I also paired my tea with cotton candy and a scone. A must try!

Came here for my sister’s birthday and we both enjoyed the high tea service here! It’s not as fancy or traditional as the Ritz or the Fairmont but it does the trick. Very lovely environment to enjoy and relaxing afternoon with your family/friends. Lots of teas to choose from and very delicious scones. The only thing I could complain about is the bathroom… not the cleanest environment, reminds me more of a bathroom you could find at a gas station or a busy Chinese restaurant.

I would say«meh, I’ve experienced better» but upped it to one more star because of their efforts. I wasn’t too impressed with the tearoom. Their tea selection was great, their tea sandwich selection was meh. The ham cheese and brie wasn’t very good. Their egg salad and cucmber sandwiches were decent. I think what bothers me most is, I’m paying $ 28 for a great high tea experience. I only hope that they would give me attentive service. Having been to a few high tea places, I just felt their service was lackluster. I think that hot water should be refilled without having to look over and call someone to ask. There should have been more people around. I had to turn to look for someone to ask for the check. They just weren’t attentive compared to Lovejoy’s. The décor was very weird and minimal. I don’t know if they are going for something modern but it doesn’t quite work. The tiered display could use some work as well, it just didn’t look as appetizing or fun as the other places I’ve been to. In fact the tiers made it look like we had so little food versus the other fun high tea tiers I’ve seen. The desserts were okay, but they were all incredibly sickly sweet, felt like I was eating pure sugar. Another thing, I emailed to make reservations and was confirmed for 12. It looks like someone forgot to write it down because at first they were scrambling to get us a table. It was kind of weird considering it seemed like there were a few other tables that could be used, and we were sitting in the back corner. But alas. I would give them another chance if they worked on a few things. But I will just stick to Lovejoy’s.

Celebrated mother’s day here for my mom and had a great time. Cute interior, ordered the full tea menu and some extra treats for my daughter. The waitress was VERY attentive and even brought some extra items over for my daughter to enjoy which made the experience even more enjoyable. The sandwiches and desserts were very tasty and the variety of teas was great to pick from. Will come back again soon!

I rarely will spend the time to write a review on a business unless if I received exceptional or horrific service. This little Tea Room exceeded my expectations in terms of service. I hosted an intimate bridal shower for one of my best friends, we only had about 5 girls so it was a small group but we were all so happy with the venue. The price is reasonable for High Tea service. We ordered the darjeeling tea, peach apricot tea, chai and decaf earl grey. We also ordered a variety of sandwiches and my favorite was the chicken curry. One of my friends is pregnant so there were certain foods she couldn’t eat. Alice(I think she is the owner) was so generous and made two batches of chicken curry, one without certain ingredients so that my pregnant friend could eat it. She didn’t even request it, she just gave us extras as complimentary! The service continued to be excellent throughout our time there. They did not rush us out and told us to take our time, meanwhile we got free refills on our teas. The scones were so warm and delicious. The additional sweets were great too… we had so much food that there were leftovers to bring home! To top off the service, they gave the bride a to-go box with an extra scone, a sweet dessert that we haven’t tried during the tasting, and some tea. The only constructive criticism I will provide is that they can add some more decorations to the venue to make it look more like those cutesy tea and sandwich shops, but the service was so great it more than makes up for that shortcoming. They also allowed us to bring our own fresh flowers and decorations which made it fun for us to personalize our table. If you are planning a baby shower or bridal shower, or even just a get-together with the girls, this is an excellent place to go.

This place has potential to be good for cute tea times with the girls. Right now, the room lacks décor and the cutesy aspects of what one would expect from a tea room. The service was very friendly and patient though! The prices did not seem accurate for the presentation and the quality. I expect tea places to be priced high but this just met my expectations. I did enjoy the refills on the tea and the fact that I was able to try the different sandwiches and the pastries but either they need to step up the decorations or lower their prices. Probably would recommend the décor because it’s situated in a fancy area.

My first high tea in the East Bay and I love it. The place is cute and small. The servers are nice and food was good. The portion is a lot and the tea sandwich is a good side. I have the white peach favor of tea and I love it. It was really refreshing.

High Tea– $ 25 Entire Tea– $ 28 For reference, the Tearoom is located across the street from the Safeway on College. We parked on the Safeway parking lot – they don’t seem to mind. My friend and I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day, and after we were seated, the waiter brought us a tray full of teas to smell so we could choose a tea. He also brought us some Valentine’s day specials– a cup of tea and an artificial crab sandwich. We then chose the Entire tea, which cost $ 3 more for 2 extra confections(sweets) and fruit salad. We also chose Mother’s bouquet for our tea. The sandwiches were open-faced, and the curry chicken sandwich was really good. The sweets weren’t as impressive. I’d say that the entire tea is the perfect amount for two. The ambiance was also really nice. Although, the room was a bit small, and it seemed like it is connected to the chinese restaurant next door. Although this is the only tea place I’ve gone to, I’d definitely come back when I’m in the area.

Today I had a great experience at the Tearoom. I was there with my three year old and I was trying this place for the first time. They met and exceeded my expectations. The food was very tasty and neatly presented. The service was excellent as they treated me and my daughter in a friendly manner. They even went out of their way and gave my daughter a Valentines Day balloon and when I forgot her sweater one of their employees tracked me down across the street right before I got in the elevator by the Safeway to go up to my car in the parking lot. I am going to go back with her or with my wife. They have made a future repeating customer. Thanks again.

Came here on a Monday(MLK day) afternoon with a girlfriend. They have a great selection of tea, and they’ll give you a tray with all the teas in canisters so you can smell them before deciding. This was super helpful since I’m usually pretty picky with teas, so love to have my expectation set before ordering. They have a good selection of sandwiches, and amazing scone! I usually compare high tea places by how good their scones are, and I’ve definitely had bad scones. Their scones were warm and have very nice consistency. They’re tucked away across from Safeway and Philz on College/Claremont. Even though it’s a pretty busy area, the inside is quite and pretty spacious. We’re already planning to come back soon, so cannot wait!

Nice staff. Zero ambiance. My tab for a single-serve pot of decaf Earl Grey, a scone, and a tablespoon each of cream and jam was $ 17.05(including tax and a 15% tip). Why was it so expensive?!

I’ll give this place 3.5 stars…5 stars for customer service as very attentive and friendly. The food is okay though i have to say the curry chicken sandwich(open faced) and scone were really good but desserts we’re ok(chocolate mint brownie, lemon square, some chocolate dipped strawberries(for $ 28). The menu was a little misleading as the menu for Entire Tea service included fruit salad… when we asked, the waitress was very apologetic for the confusion and said it was mixed salad with fruit in it… but if you notice other Unilocal pics its all fruit… hmmm. might want to change that description. Overall, i’d say okay and definitely nice to try… ambiance was okay but presentation of food was nice with a variety of teas.

Five stars for one of the best customer service experiences. The woman ran over to make sure my grandma didn’t trip on the little up step going into the tearoom. She gave us extras, and a birthday discount for my Grandma’s bday. The room was really relaxing and the prices are great for the serving size, we both left very full. I’d recommend trying the curry chicken sandwich. My grandma loved the scones. I thought the tea was on point. We shared a pot of extremely hot English Breakfast. I’d recommend parking on the Claremont side of Safeway because it’s 2 hour parking. And it’s a pretty close walk past Safeway to College.

I was debating whether or not to come here with my girlfriends for brunch. I had other options like Rotunda, but I’ve decided to try this place out because it was closer to us! It was honestly the best decision ever because I love this place! Their presentation for the tea sets were all so lovely. The setting was amazing! The service was good! All the treats tasted super fresh and we loved each and every one of them! I would soooo come back for their scone and the egg salad sandwich!

Five stars for the warm scones alone. I love a good olé’ English high tea, and this place delivers. Maybe not perfectly, but absolutely good enough, especially since I was able to just wander in on a Sunday and get a table.(The last table, yes, but we got it.) The price was comparable to other tea houses, and the setting was clean and modern compared to the overload of kitsch that you often get in English tea rooms. We had the complete tea. — Tea: Loved being able to sniff the teas before ordering. Almost strong enough, and bottomless, yay. — Sandwiches: Tasty enough. The egg salad was delicious, the cucumber good(a little too thickly cut), and the ham/brie/apple yummy(though I don’t think it needed the mustard as well). — Scone: warm and fresh. Maybe not perfect, but those two facts make up for any sins in my book. — Sweets: some great(coconut raspberry mini layer cake), some meh(candy canes melted into a brownie), but again, small and delightful and good enough. Will go again, for sure.

Not bad for a place that just opened recently. Great potential but still room for improvement. Teas seem to be of good quality, very fragrant but … * my pot could have been packed with more leaves. The flavor was a little thin and watery, even after steeping. * Didn’t care for the curry sandwich but * Really enjoyed the ham, brie and apple sandwich. * Desserts were tiny but very yummy. Intensely flavored lemon and strawberry lemon bars. * Fruit was perfectly ripe. * Scone was delicious, warm and tender. * Service was friendly and attentive. * Serving ware was pretty modern with glass teapots and tiered trays. * Serving size looks deceptively sparse but I was nicely full without being uncomfortably stuffed. I’d be willing to return to check out the rest of the menu.

Food: ordered a scone with cream and preserve($ 4), confections($ 8, choice of 4), and a pot of Earl Grey with cotton candy on the side. Scone was surprisingly good. It was freshly made every day and served warm. Confections were tasty and presented beautifully although I didn’t like the vegetable garnish on the plate. It’d be nicer if they used mint instead. I ordered cotton candy just because it’s cute. Our waiter set it up where the cotton candy could slowly melt into the tea. It’s super cute and picture worthy. The Earl Grey was okay. Not the best that I’ve had but it’s alright(note that I’m a tea snob). I like the food here. Better than some of the fancy tea places I’ve been to. Service: our waiter was very attentive. I thought service was extraordinary given that this is not an upscale tea place. The whole experience was pretty welcoming. Ambiance: Not your typical girly lacey kind of place. It shares same space with a Chinese restaurant(although you can’t really tell once you’re inside). Interior is alright. Not much décor. A bit too dark. Upholstered chairs and tables with white tablecloths. Couch seating by the entrance is pretty nice though. Can do some people watching while sipping your tea and listening to the soothing music. Overall the place is nice and clean except that there are a few noticeable spots on the carpet. Parking: we got there around 4:40 and there were ample parking. Nice neighborhood lots of restaurants nearby. I’ll come back again for sure. Food is reasonably priced and tasty. Although I really wish they could use a cuter teapot and add more decors and clean up the carpet. That’s why I took a star off. But I really think this place is worth going. The waiters here are very friendly and helpful. Overall a pleasant experience. =)
