Just had two cortisone shots from Dr. Shen. I didn’t want to be groggy for hours afterwards, so I just had a local anesthetic. Guess what? I barely felt anything, they let me out within fifteen minutes, and I’m now back at work. I’ve had dental work where there was more pain than this.
I also had a cortisone shot from Dr. Shen a year ago, and it really cleared up the pain in my foot.
He is a real professional. When I asked him how many of these he had done, he said «about five thousand».
I highly recommend him.

Dr. Shen is a great doctor. I went to see him for my back and arm issue. He listened, paid attention, and took the time to give me a very thourough exam. I felt that he was genuinely interested in helping me. He is also a very nice and intelligent person.

Dr. Shen is fantastic to work with. He’s accommodating, helpful, encouraging and most importantly he PAYS ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU SAY! It can be so hard to find doctors who are attentive and work with your best interests in mind. He’s worked with me to deal with my persistent back pain and makes the process as easy as possible. I’m a big fan.

Like him A LOT! Totally listens, is clearly intelligent, wonderful bedside manner, is on time (a big big plus) and is clearly committed to excellent patient care. Very happy to have switched from my old doctor!

Dr. Shen is a great doctor, straight forward and listens to what ails me. He helped me find a good physical therapist in the area for a lower spine injury. The lack of stars comes from the administration of his office. First of all, I needed a copy of a medical record they were going to charge me $ 15. I saw the record last time I was in there and I should have just asked for a quick photocopy. Secondly, they don’t use email or scanning of things, only facsimile or snail mail. It is 2013. Get an email address.

I started seeing Dr. Shen recently for one herniated disc and two annular tears. He always explains my options very clearly and strikes a nice balance between professionalism and kindness. Perhaps most importantly, he is always on time. When you have back pain, the last thing you want is to be sitting around in a waiting room. I have never waited more than five minutes in his office. And even better, when Dr. Shen ordered a steroid injection, and I called the insurance company to check up on it a day later, I was given the time at which the order had been submitted by his office — and it was within an hour of my appointment! That office is a well oiled machine. Highly recommended.

Dr. Shen has gotten me through many spinal injections (epidurals) before my spinal surgery. He does my cortisone shots for bursitis in the hip. Dr. Shen is recommended the the staff at UCSF Spine Center and Sports Medicine Center. He is known in the sports medicine community and knows all the surgeons.
Dr. Shen listens — you can actually have a conversation with him.
His receptionist is great — they actually get back to you in a timely manner. I absolutely recommended Dr. Shen.
