TSA Checkpoint Terminal 1 – Oakland International Airport

I have to update my review, but this is for terminal 2. Just breezed through in under 3 minutes in a Friday night. Not much of a line even on the no tsa pre side, but worth a 3 star just for being open this time. Still had one guy who didn’t know the protocol but he didn’t hold people up. Looking forward to experiencing it during a busy time.

We left from Oakland on tues the 16^th went thru TSA about 11:45am thr was no one in line so my Husband went under the rope to the front, rather then walking up & down the isles and the TSA agent «girl» went off on him yelled really loud and made a sene. REALLY? was that necessary! she said its a rule! She was loving the Authority!!! Can’t stand that Attitude, she should be fired!

I passed and paid for Global Access, which provides me with Pre-​TSA Checkpoint access. Upon waiting in a short line, the TSA Officer told us there was no Pre-​TSA at this time. Back into the general boarding line. OK. But wait! A pretty blonde goes into the Pre-​TSA line and breezes by! I would have complained, however, these TSA Officers are just a rank above Bank Security Guards. Not wanting to be stripped searched, I just followed the masses.

This TSA checkpoint is awful. The agents here are nothing but thugs who have a power trip. I was going through the checkpoint and was being stared at by one of the agents there. The eye contact got a bit awkward for my liking so I looked away (isn’t there some bro code for not staring at another guy for more than 2 seconds!!!). The male with a goatee kept staring at me and turned his back and started talking on his radio; at this point I knew he already had a prejudice for me. He then proceeded to ask my questions like where I’m traveling to? How long was I there? Why did I just have 1 backpack, and what was in it? He was harassing the guy behind me with the same questions. We’re both brown. The gentlemen in front of was were white and were not asked anything, but given polite well wishes for their journey. *surprise surprise* someone needs to train these guys with some customer service skills. Terrible experience.

No lines at all you should always go through this side. When I asked why Terminal 2 doesn’t direct people over there when lines are long they said Southwest will get mad.

Complete hell. The TSA loves to single me out when I fly because of my autism. They hassle me for additional screening, select me for their stupid grope downs, and ignore the fact that I tell them «don’t touch my junk»!
Perverts and idiots, all of them. They’re nothing more than a gang of federalized, minimum-​wage-​grubbing, shit-​for-​brained rent-​a-​cop bullies with a fake plastic badge and a massive ego-​fueled power trip!
You’re better off driving or taking the train. Oh, WAIT. They have jurisdiction over that too. Maybe I should just WALK on my trips. Wait. Now they have checkpoints on every sidewalk and block! Maybe I should JUST NOT TRAVEL AT ALL!!!

I am not sure if it’s terminal 1 or not. It was the terminal where Southwest flight got check in. The TSA agent (an Asian lady) was very rude and unprofessional as I was showing my ID and my iPhone boarding pass. I had no problems checking in with an iPhone pass before. After I placed my iPhone on the little check in device, and showed her my ID, she rudely said, «do something.» I was totally puzzled with her command. She said again, «do something. I don’t own an iPhone; do something to make it work.» I lifted up my phone, and it was the correct pass. So I put it back on the check on device again. She eventually just asked me to use the big machine to print out a ticket. Luckily there was no line after I came back. Her voice was so rude. It doesn’t require an ownership of an iPhone to know how the machine work. She should be the one who knows and help passenger. I used my iPhone check in quite often and it never gave me any problem. She is the rudest person. Other TSA agents I have encountered were better. Wish they have a big name tag or number; so I can point out specifically whom this rude person is.

Old and slow. Not better or not worst than your average TSA checkpoint.

I was here at an off-​time, so we breeeeezed on through. Everyone was pleasant, and everyone I was with was an off-​time guest (most had shown up very early for the next wave of flights) so they were nerdy, seasoned travelers and they didn’t have any problems.
Terminal 1 is where I usually fly out of, and I haven’t had much attitude or much problem getting through here. Average. Which is to say, a somewhat dehumanizing but necessary (?) step in travel.

This was by far the best TSA experience we’ve ever experienced! They identified and directed us to the short family line and then the agent who checked us in was helpful, polite and very nice. The rest of the experience was fast and friendly.

The TSA handler didn’t tell me to take my dog out of the carrier when I had my dog carrier on the belt. Then I got yelled at by the grumpy screener behind the computer. It’s called team work. Work together to make people aware who might be traveling with their pet for the first time. Little things like this will help TSA have a better image in the eye of the public.
