I discovered Waveformless when looking to get an old synth(Korg Mono/Poly, for those interested in the details) serviced, and was very impressed by the shop. Jason(the owner) is a breeze to work with, has reasonable rates, communicates well and – most importantly – has a deep love and understanding for these weird old instruments. This is important! Many generalized music repair shops aren’t equipped to properly repair synthesizers, and lack the experience that Waveformless provides. And since it’s a real shop, and not just some guy messing around in a basement, there’s peace of mind that the work will be done in a reasonable amount of time. But beyond repair work, the shop is just cool to visit. There are always amazing boards to play around with, and regular live music shows for those who just want to listen.

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Oakland, CA
I know people are tired of us Oakland residents trumpeting how wonderful this city is, but I mean, does your otherwise-lovely hometown have a vintage synthesizer repair & restoration & consignment shop? Jason the proprietor is super-friendly and knowledgeable, hosts free electronic music shows, and is way cooler than me over here playing Van Halen’s «Jump» with a Macy’s-bought Casio keyboard like it was 1984. Look for the window with the«moog authorized dealer» decal.
