As a former client of Willoughby Doyle LLP who engaged their services for a year I can honestly say mine WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I could have possibly imagined. Markus Willoughby misinformed me of the law, refused to listen to requests I made consistently throughout my trial which would have made a difference in the outcome, and — most disturbingly — did not disclose that he knew the person I was taking to court. After we left the courthouse — where i first discovered he knew the defendant — he exclaimed «Well, that went well!» and I said, «you must be kidding? We just lost.» That he could not even recognize a lose when it happened demonstrated that he not only was a terrible lawyer but also totally blinded by his own hubris. He charged me a small fortune, including time he needed to get familiar with PA law when i requested he write a CA will (any decent lawyer would have told me I would need to pay him for his learning curve or simply suggest I get a PA lawyer for that portion of my will) and then, after the lies, losses and outright misleading overcharges, he put a lien on the estate for a mere $ 1100 (I had paid over $ 60,000). I am less angry about the money than I am about a blatant conflict of interest that he unilaterally decided not to share with me. Being lied to by your own lawyer should be punishable by law but at the very least anyone who reads this can stay away.
