yorkshire is definitely gone. a big remodeling is going on. lots like something big is developing here. hopefully, the unhappy owner has moved on to something more satisfying(to him) in life. operater: «the number dialed isn’t a working number.»

Let’s be honest: When has a fish and chips spot gotten 5 stars from a sober reviewer? NEVER. Fish and Chips aren’t popular anymore. In the age where one’s diet is an extension of their personality, no one wants to eat DEEPFRIED fish and potatoes. It’s a viking diet, fit for the finest of the Finnish and strictly for the stomachs of the Saxons(No wonder the British love it). My point is that given the fact that you can’t even imagine a fish and chips spot getting a 5, let’s be a little flexible with our rating. Moving onto the review: +This place is janky… nothing nice about it. Some dusty kitschy artwork on the wall with a sad dilapidated feel. The one day I went, they didn’t even have Cod(the standard for Fish and Chips) — only Tilapia. +The proprietors are nice, but clearly depressed that they own a Fish & Chips spot. + The Fish is good for deep fried death, and the fries aren’t standard french fries. They’re like thin sliced potato wedges. I actually liked the basic product I think it cost like $ 8 something. + The tarter sauce is HORRENDOUS. I went over to Los Cantaros and bought some off of them for $ 0.50. All in all, I’m only occasionally a deep fried kind of guy, and rarely with fish, but, and here’s the bottom line, IFYOUWANTFISHANDCHIPSTHISISN’T A BADPLACETOGO(minus the tarter sauce).

For a fish and chips fix(and there aint a hell of a lot of them here in Oakland), this place rocks. I usually get the snapper, and it is delicious. Fries are good, and their tartar sauce is awesome. Great service. I honestly don’t know what these other people are talking about. I think some people think they ARE food critics.

Went there on Tuesday, 6−10−08, 11:45 am. A nice neighborhood place clean tidy. Ask for the cod –Yorkshire basket.($ 7.99)I asked for it to go waited maybe 10 minutes. I got malt vinegar and tartar sauce. Took me 8 minutes to get home. I guess the” to go «container steamed the food but it was not crunchy at all. BUT it did not taste good at all no flavor .The«chips» was crinkle fries. They should have been steak size potatoes fries. I cannot recommend this at all. Hours 12 – 8:30pm, closed Sunday-Monday.

Not the worst fish and chips i’ve had, but not very good either. Both my hubby and I got the cod and it was overcooked and hard. The chips were ok, but I wound definitely not go back.

After walking by this joint daily for the past several years, we finally decided to give Yorkshire a go(also the line at Los Cantaros was too long). This is the place to go for some greasy, tasty fish n chips. We got the«popcorn» shrimp, very crunchy! Also the fish n chips with tilapia. The chalkboard menu says you can pick which kind of fish you’d like, so be sure to specify or they will just throw in cod without asking. Both items were about 7 – 8 bucks and came with a gigantic side of fries. Portions are enough to split — we got about 7 pieces of fish and maybe 20 shrimp! Very reminiscent of the«chippers» I frequented in Ireland. The décor isn’t much to write home about, but a good place to grab some hangover food and have a quick picnic in the park.

Do you like fish? Do you like fried fish? If so, you have to check out Yorkshire. You get to pick what kind of fish you want and what batter they deep fry it in. I had the catfish in cornmeal; it was a good sized portion, enough for two meals. The fish came with fries and the house salad, both were a good compliment to the fish filets. This is not the place to go if you are trying to fend off heart disease, high blood pressure, or obesity; otherwise eat up mate.

The fried fish had black, old, fried pieces from past frying. Clean your oil, dude!
