Great food, great people. Just don’t know what happened to our waitress! She disappeared and we had to wait to pay. Gave her a great tip anyway, we’ll be back!

Visiting from Florida. Went on a Wednesday(Pasta Night)! Pasta with lump crab was excellent. Veal Parm and Chicken Parm also looked good. Very large portions. The next time I am in NJ, this place is definitely on my list!

As for bar food, this place is a 10 for sure. No place in sj even comes close to the food here. I would put the chef, yes chef, not fry cook here up against any restaurant around. I have had everything from wings to prime rib, to lobster here and everything was an a+. Probably the best place for seafood also. On any day they have more then 5 different fishes, and 3 kinds of crab legs. It is a must try, you won’t be disappointed and the prices cant be beat.

Been going here for about 7 years now. It’s my family’s go-to place. Great food, great prices, great staff, great vibes! If I had only one complaint, I would love to see them bring back an arcade machine. It kept my kids entertained while the wife and I would chat… but awesome place!

Been frequenting this spot for some time.(Almost 20 years) Dive-y, but clean. Good pub grub, plus a few highlights with buffalo shrimp, mussels, and fish specials. Wed night pasta specials. Live music nights too. Though the tap selection has improved, prices have gone up, so I don’t frequent this place as much.($ 2.50 Miller Lite special ain’t so special when it’s not even a pint + most IPAs are almost 6 bucks a pop) Not a great wine selection either, which dissuades the wife. Also, be prepared, cash only. Odd, but true. All-in-all, a cool local joint to hit up.

Had the surf and turf special tonight(Shrimp in garlic sauce with a sirloin steak) I specifically asked the waitress if the steak is nice portion and not too fatty and she said yes, very nice selection. Of course when it came, I was pleased with the flavor of everything, rareness was to my selection. However, when I got to the last 1⁄3 of the steak it was ALL fat! 1⁄3 of the steak was pure fat. I showed the waitress and she agreed and the cook in the kitchen told her that if I had looked at this before I ate up to this point, I could have sent it back for a new steak! I mentioned to her that I did not think to look for 1⁄3 of the steak to be fat(and I reminded her that I asked her if the steaks were lean before I ordered) so I did not think that I had to cut the steak apart to see that 1⁄3 of the steak was fat! We asked for the owner and she said he was not there and that we could wait if we wanted to. My thought was… the cook had to of seen with his eyes the 1⁄3 fat on this steak before he threw it on the fire. Why could he of chosen a different steak to cook before he sent it out to me in a dimly lit dining room. Also, IF I had noticed all this as he said I should have before I started eating the steak and sent it back; what was he going to do with it at that point? Serve it to someone else? Throw it away? Would this have been the answer then to have taken a few bucks off my check? I guess I started eating at the wrong end of the steak tonight. There won’t be a next time there. Just warning all you folks who go there. This was a bad rating for me. Like · Comment

Excellent place to go out and eat/drink. Something fun is always going on here and makes you keep coming back. The food and service is great! You can’t beat the prices. Cash only. Worth it!!!

Went here again on Wednesday before the Phillies game that night. Once again I can’t say enough. The spaghetti w white crabmeat in my book should be the signature dish. Yes the place looks a dive, but the locals love it. Everytime I go down to visit my parents in New Jersey I i make it a point to eat here. The prices are great and the portions are unbelievable. Dont underestimate this place. They have some of the best food in the area

My first time here — weekday around lunchtime. Not busy at all. Small place. Service prompt, waitress friendly. French onion soup was very good. I’m not a huge seafood fan nor a huge eater volume wise, stuck with soup and salad. Chef salad was very large and about what you would expect a chef salad to be. Ate perhaps a third and received a box and bag for take home. My dining partner had clam chowder, crab cakes, and crabby fries and reported all to be good. Said crab cakes did not include a lot of filler. He had a mixed drink, I had a beer. I didn’t peruse the beer selection much as I generally order something very ordinary that everyone carries. I would return and like to try for dinner. Was surprised it was so empty due to the rave reviews, but hey — guess it benefited us — sat wherever we chose, no waiting, easy parking.

Been coming here for years. Food is surprisingly good though prices are creeping up. Used to be a great value but the higher prices mean it’s no longer a bargain. Friendly crowd and casual vibe. Hope the owners keep prices in check.

I cant write enough about Merryfield’s. Ive been a regular for over 8 years. Jimmy, Chef Frank, Leo(aka Wally), Jim Bob do it right. Love this place. Come visit & enjoy the food(many daily specials), drinks, & vibe.

A self-proclaimed fine restaurant and dive bar lover alike, I wasn’t super impressed with Merryfields, which I’d classify in the latter category. I can see it being good for just stopping and grabbing a drink for happy hour or a quick dinner, but don’t come expecting lavish food or a hidden gem. Large wrap-around bar and about a dozen tables make up this place. Was impressed with the cleanliness and beer specials($ 2.50 Yuenglings on Wednesday nights), along with the clams appetizer which I would NEVER have ordered from a dive bar if it weren’t for other reviews, no offense. Cons were the rest of the food-clearly canned tomato sauce on the chicken Parmesan and just an OK pasta dish for my boyfriend and I which, given that pasta night is a special on Wednesdays here, I would have expected better.

The nacho Grande with chicken was pretty good. This is a quaint dive bar that is always packed. This was my first time here, but my impression is that they have really good food. We ordered and split a bacon cheeseburger. I like how they split it on two plates for us. The only thing I have to complain about was the bartender didn’t refill our drinks. It was a tasty burger and I liked the place so I’ll return.

I can’t believe it has taken me so long to write of a review of one of my favorite dining establishments! I began dining at MERRYFIELDS in 2004⁄2005 before most people were willing to venture away from hoity toity metropolitan establishments to give this place a shot. It has some of the best and fresh food with some of the best prices. The menu offers something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for wings, fries or mussels or if you want to step it up with a delicious seafood entrée or just a simple salad with fresh shrimp or crab meat, MERRYFIELDS it all. I’ve never been let down.

Recently moved into the area and decided to check this place out. I’ve been back multiple times since. The food is always good, and the service is excellent. My friend and I go in a lot for the king crab, and it’s delicious! The lighting is very dark inside, which isn’t bothersome to me, but could be to others.

Oh, mussels, how I love thee… I’ve been living nearby for over two years and had been hearing about how great the mussels are at Merryfield’s so finally decided to give it a try. They are, indeed, fantastic. Not gritty and not overcooked = win. And inexpensive — under $ 10 for a giant bowl in either garlic sauce(my choice) or red sauce. You get enough bread for dipping, too. A side of crab fries was tasty as well: not greasy but crispy and hot. Don’t expect a fancy atmosphere but the servers are very friendly and it has a nice vibe for a local bar. Nice draft selection, too. Nothing fancy but good food at good prices.

Came here on a Friday around 4PM with a few work friends a few weeks ago for the first time ever. It’s deff a hole in the wall at first glance but the seafood is amazing!!! They have huge bowls of white or red mussels that are dirt cheap, clams casino and wings that are perfect. The garlic wings are meaty and made«dry«with fresh garlic shaved on top. They were so good I picked up another order the next day for my husband and I tried the pork sandwich with broccoli rab which was also perfect. I’m pretty picky with how I order my take out and they got everything right which is a huge plus for me. Not to mention they knew what a rusty nail was when we ordered drinks! Not the best rusty nail but hey, at least they knew what it was. — Deff. worth stopping in or ordering out.
