Oakmont Floral & Design

Oakmont Floral & Design is a trustworthy florist that listens well and offers very reliable service. I have visited this lovely little shop, but mainly I have ordered floral arrangements by phone from them every few months for ten years or so. I live in another state and trust this business to give me good value and prompt delivery.
The staff members at Oakmont Floral & Design listen well and do a good job of describing their current stock. They deliver to a fairly large area, and explain prices clearly: flowers, delivery, tax.
General advice about ordering flowers: To get the most for my money, I ask what seasonal flowers they have (and ask them not to include mums or baby’s breath). I tell them whether the recipient is a man or woman; any favorite colors; and basic taste, such as bold shapes or delicate arrangements. I try to call a day before delivery is needed, although Oakmont Floral & Design has made same-​day deliveries for me. If the flowers are for a busy holiday, I try to call two or more days ahead.
I never ask for an arrangement that looks exactly like a photograph from a website or catalog. That kind of order might seem easy and reliable, but the flowers in the picture might be far more expensive than the ones in the florist’s own shop; an arrangement made from flowers in the shop will often be bigger and a bit more luxurious. Besides, florists are creative folks, who appreciate the chance to make something special.
Finally, I always talk with florists about containers. Flowers sent to a hospital might be taken home, so I ask for a container (such as a basket) that will be easy to carry and that will not spill in a car. Flowers sent to a nursing home might be knocked over, so I ask for a container that is not glass.
