Beer on a hand pump like in the UK! That means less filling, less drunk, less gas and the ESB was excellent. Good burgers and excellent fries. Give cask ale on a hand pump a try. You might find it is your new favorite beer.

Wonderful! Came here with a friend and we tried their soup of the day, pear salad, and variation on poutine. She had a beer. Very friendly staff, laid back atmosphere, and the lady working there gave lots of beer samples. Cool décor with piano and goat, and license plates. Hearty comfort food in a nice place.

Awesome find. We stopped here after camping a Salmon Creek. Great beer and amazing food. Service was print and friendly. Definitely adding this to the travel journal as a place to stop again.

This place was so great on every level! Quality, fresh food and wonderful service. What a delight to find after a long day of traveling. You won’t be disappointed. Try out there mustard chicken or bacon Brussels sprouts.

We had such a good time here yesterday! We had unique(to us) beer in the English style, which was so foamy and delicious, we got to play free pool for four games, and the food! My partner is vegetarian, and it’s really hard to find a good veggie burger, but he really loved the burger here! He got the Cranberry Provolone Burger, which was subtle, not overpowering with cranberry. I got the Bacon Blue Pear, but got provolone instead of blue cheese, and the roasted pear was so good! Their meat might have pork or pork grease in it, or garlic and herbs, I can’t tell but it was delicious, very savory, and fragrant! Thanks for a great Sunday afternoon away from Portland.

This is the laid back kind of place you can loll away an afternoon at. Friendly service, excellent brews, great views outdoors. The eclectic, old style is relaxing with lots of little nooks to chill in. There are musical instruments when you get that urge to play as well as games, books and a pool table. Food was good. My son loved the Reuben and my spinach bacon salad was right on. The mushroom topped home fries good too. Prices were totally reasonable. I’ll certainly be back.

Wow! Visiting from out of town for a funeral. My in-laws are gluten free, so we spent a good deal of time searching for a highly rated restaurant that was also gluten free. More than impressed! Excellent burgers! First impression: walk in, no welcome or hello. read a sign to seat yourself. Then looking over the menu finally figured out that you have to order at the bar. They had fun games and instruments to play while waiting. They even had reading glasses to borrow! The service was great even though it’s a serve yourself-which is no issue if you’re not looking for anything formal.(Oh! Also the water is serve yourself at the end of the bar as well) The atmosphere was very comfortable– felt like being at home. The food: I ordered the cranberry provolone burger: HOLYCOW! That is on my top 3 of best burgers I’ve had in my life. The sweet potato fries were also very good. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Have stopped here on several occasions & always enjoy the food & beverages. The Reuben is great! Cool atmosphere & friendly staff. This last visit made even more of an impression since I accidentally left my backpack. I live on the coast & didn’t notice until we were nearly back home. I called the restaurant that night & spoke to the owner(I think). He assured me he would overnight it to me the next day. It arrived safe & sound, contents intact. A big thank you to the folks there & keep up the good work! Great to have a place to stop coming & going from Willamette Pass that serves delicious food & beer.

Went in to have the, «duck breast» special salad and I ordered medium well on the duck… came to me raw, not up to temp and the skin was just a greasy raw mess… the cask ale is good but the cook needs a kick in the ass…

Decent food, nice décor. The service was friendly, but ineffective at best and incompetent at worst. You order at the bar — which is severely understaffed — which means you wait in line for 20 minutes to order while someone else samples two or three beers before making a selection. Then you wait for an additional 5 minutes while the single bartender pours a total of 3 beers. I ordered a burger, and it arrived at my table 75 minutes later with no apology or even really warning from the staff. None of our food came out at the same time — most people had finished eating before the last person in our party got his food. I can’t in good conscience recommend a restaurant where you can walk in at 7:15 on a weeknight and not get any food until 9:00.

I’ve been here a few times over the years and it really hasn’t changed much. I would really give it 3 ½ stars, but the service we got bumped it up. The location is off of Highway 58, in a part of Oakridge that many people do not know exists. I didn’t for years! The building is quite old and on the run down side, but has just enough character to not make it feel like a dive or a dump. They have a good beer selection as well as cider which the wife likes. The menu is limited, but the food is fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Especially considering Oakridge is fairly remote. I really can’t think of a similar place in all of Oakridge, but if you’re in the area after a bike, hike or ski trip this place is worth the stop.

Stumbled upon this place through a recommendation and I am glad we did! A fun and relaxing environment for all(even families!) Their sweet potato fries are amazing! We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed getting to chat with some of the locals. A very welcoming town.

Mushroom poutine with white cheddar curds, or salad and a pint of Harry Porter — delicious delicious delicious local gem. I seriously may plan more trips into this bit of the Cascade Mointains if it means I have a reason to stop in.

I didn’t get the memo for when Oakridge became the next big thing in the Cascades’ biking and hiking community. But I don’t get the memos on a lot of things. For me Oakridge was a redneck timber town where as a college student we would sneak through to Mcredie hot springs to go skinny dipping. We had little interest in daytime Oakridge. But somewhere, somehow, somebody figured this logging ghost town could be made into a really cool spot, and Brewers Union looks to be one of the big pieces to that effort, symbolically at least. If you had told me Oakridge would be hosting a brewery specializing in British-style ales and such, I’d have thought you’d been hanging out near the UO campus too long. Yet there they are. As a total package, BU does just about everything right. Their brews are top notch. Their food kicks ass. Any place doing their own house-cut fries gets respect in my book. Lastly, they haven’t done up their place, going rustic all the way and that is part of the charm. Don’t be a sucker. Check them out if around Oakridge. Actually, make a special trip.

On the way to wilderness adventures or on the way home from said adventures, you must stop here. I do as much as possible. Not a huge fan of the«English cask style»… I am quite happy my ancestors left that cold little island… but there is so much to enjoy here, I am quite content to take it that way. The house brews are eclectic and forever rotating as is their«guest» taps. You are sure to find something you like to quench your thirst, including wine or cider, while you visit with your fellow adventurers, the locals, and quite possibly the brewer and owner who never seems to go home. The food is far better than average as far as the burgers go. I haven’t tried anything else. The patty is well seasoned, moist, and stirring up my salivary glands as I type. The buns are made locally just down the road. The fries are hand cut and cooked perfectly. Really, just a fantastic burger. The atmosphere is just so damn welcoming. The epitome of a public house as it seems the entire town was there and happy to see you. So in summary… if you are near Oakridge, do yourself a favor and go. Don’t expect high speed service on the food, it’s not what it’s about. Slow down. Enjoy a cask ale. Thank me later.
