Steak ‘n Shake

I always enjoyed Steak n Shake and was excited when this one opened up close to my home… and then we went there, NOT the greatest experience I must say. We waited a good 15 mins for a table, we were given water at that time, another 10 mins past before a member of the wait staff approach to take our order. We FINALLY got our food? after another 15 mins and guess what… It was COLD!!! The price for the long wait, cold food and inattentive staff… RIDICULOUS!!! Won’t go again.

Horrible. I tried to order breakfast for my crew and I the other morning, I was told I couldn’t order breakfast because they didn’t start serving breakfast until 6 am. I asked the guy of he realized that it was 5:55, and he said «yes, but we still don’t start serving breakfast until 6.» I felt like Michael Douglas in Falling Down. I asked to speak to the manager, and he informed me that was him. I left. I have tried several times to call there, but no one ever answers the phone, and I refuse to go back inside. I’ll never give Steak and Shake another penny. Never.

Three strikes and you are out. First visit was within a week of opening, greasy burgers — I mean dripping grease. Chalked it up be being new. Second visit, tried again — grease, grease, grease and very unhappy servers. Third time — tried milkshakes, one chocolate, one vanilla — we started on them and then realized there were ‘chunks’ in our milkshakes. I fished one out and it was gelatinous and disgusting. Both of us were sick. We will never go back there again.

In the beginning, everything was great. Flash forward a year later and the service is no good. It’s faster to go through drive-​thru (20 minute wait) than dine in (1 hr+ wait). The food is cold by the time it gets to your table. It takes at least 5 minutes to be seated, 20 to take be given the menu and order your drinks, another 20 to order your meal, and 25+ to receive the food. The only reason I visit is for the veggie melt. I used to get chicken tenders but the last two times the tenders have been cold to the touch. I just went today and after 30 minutes of waiting inside, where I had only been seated and asked (not even brought) what to drink, I left and went through drivethru where I sat 20 minutes. However it was wayyy faster than the time I would have spent inside waiting for my food. The veggie melt was soggy and cold:(The drive thru cashier seemed a bit off because she was would constantly start a sentence, pause, and when I looked at her to signal to finish the sentence, she asked if I was okay? For instance one of the things she said was «would you like…» Stop… turns away… turns back «are you okay»…like idk lady, I was waiting for you to finish your sentence. The poor quality of this restaurant has been persistent throughout my last 4 visits and needless to say I am not pleased with neither the food or service.

They don’t deserve any stars. This place just keeps getting worse and worse. They have so many people working but still can’t get anything done. They won’t acknowledge you until you finally decide that you’re tired of waiting and leave. If you need a place to go for a late night snack this definitely is not the spot. Your waitress will come back to you multiple times asking what you ordered it takes forever to get seated and even longer just to get drinks. My latest visit my waitress finally brought the food but it was the wrong order. There was one lady texting in the kitchen and the staff would allow random people in the kitchen. I’m never coming here again just a waste of time. They’re never understaffed, there’s always lots of people working but nobody wants to get anything done. There’s always that same guy mopping every night. Tonight he was mopping with dirty water and it just made the restaurant smell horrible. He literally mopped the same spot the entire time I was there. Just awful

Im sorry but this place is a mess, and by the place I mean the people that run it and work there. I had 2 bad experiences in one week! I will never EVER come to this steak and shake again. If I am desperate I would rather drive to Buford to that steak and shake. Now let me tell you why. I went for breakfast on my birthday, I love chocolate chip pancakes on my birthday! My boyfriend order a biscuit, the woman asked bacon or ham, I can’t remember, but he clearly told her bacon when we got home he unwrapped his biscuit to the surprise of the wrong biscuit. We shrugged it off and said maybe their busy.
Now later that week I return to get 2 milkshakes. Im at the drive-​thru window and there are so many workers in there looking confused running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The girl gave me two milkshakes then came back to the window and asked me what kind they were… Idk?! She looked at them and told me they were the wrong milkshakes so I waited. She came back asked me what kind of milkshakes I wanted, really?! I told her she left a man came back and gave me two milkshakes. I left immediately after waiting at the window for over 5 minutes for two milkshakes. I should have checked them but it shouldn’t take a genius to make a milkshake. I got home sipped and immediately looked in my cup… To my surprise they created a concoction thats not even on their menu! It was just vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips. Both of the milkshakes were the same And I clearly ordered two different milkshakes.
That did it for me! They ruined my craving for that night. There is too many people that are working here that have no idea what they are doing! This place needs a whole new experienced staff.

Really nice Steak-​n-​Shake with a big parking lot, larger than normal dinning area. Staff was super friendly and very attentive while taking our order. Food tasted as good as other Steak-​n-​Shakes we have eaten at if not a little bit better

I brought 4 loud teenage boys after a night of gaming and got in about 1am. Got a booth quick, servers were not «joyful» but attentive enough. I stayed a bit aggressive with the kids and the server and it went quite well.
Got a few cokes and some shakes, took a bit for the shakes but the kids were fine. We all got double steak burgers and fries and forgetting the late night stigma, these were great burgers and love them tiny shoe string fries! Server brought it out continuously until we all had everything then she sat and was changing shifts. I think she was pregnant. (not risking– she was), but worked her ass off.
We finished up so I could clear with her before she left and I left a good tip for putting up with all us kids. Good food, all fresh cooked at 1;30, and good booths in a real diner, they get my vote. I usually get burgers to go now in Cumming but for boys night, Oakwood was the best late night eatery.

Food is ok. Service was not so good. Started off with two coffees and one water instead of two waters and one coffee that was ordered. Waitress refilled half a cup of coffee without asking. Bannana was green.

Next visit 1−2−16 at 11:05. Sat at counter. Was not approached at all. Left after 20 minutes. Went to Waffle House. Won’t be back

I would give this 3 negative stars if I could. I was raised in St. Louis on this chain and this one is horrid from the «hostess» to the wait staff to the cooks. I have tried here twice and both times after a long wait with many tables vacant I had to ask to be seated since there was space available. When we finally got our food it was cold as it had been sitting on the counter for five minutes while we watched for our waitress. As we left a patron was giving a waitress and the manager a piece of her mind. NEVER will I go to this location again!

Who runs this place!!! It’s been a long time since I have encountered an entire restaurant, manager included, that didnt give a crap about anything happening in the dining room. Lazy, rude people!!! will take my 25 bucks to Burgerking next burger night!!! so long steaknshake

so far, been here 10 minutes and still no service. what the efff?? now been 25 minutes since i ordered, got four glasses of ice water thrown on me, order is wrong… man. this demands a call to corporate… look. at all the one star ratings. mangement is sad.sad. !!& bad bad bad!

First, this location is smaller than any other around. Parking may not be full, but you may still have to wait due to the size and limited seating. My boyfriend and I walked in and had to wait about 10 mins which wasn’t bad. We were seated and immediately greeted by the waitress. Being regulars we ordered right away. We asked that our chili come out before the entrée, and she commented that it’s not up to her but the person who prepares the food. Some times go by, and she brings the food out with the chili. Chili was hot, but the burger and fries were room temp, as if they had been sitting out a bit. We flagged another waitress down to get ours. She apologized and said she wasn’t sure why the food was that way. In about 10 mins comes our reorder. I asked for a knife, and she never brings one. She brings our bill and we’re charged for two different orders. My boyfriend is livid and goes to the counter and asks to speak with the manager. We were told he was coming but never did. Instead our waitress comes up and tries to explain that she had to put our reorder on the bill, that’s why there was two charges. I guess she felt no need to fix it later– instead just prints the ticket and gives it to us. This girl is in need of more training. Will NOT be returning to this location.

I went there on a Sunday with the kids. The kids eat free with a paying adult. After the meal the kids wanted ice cream and I was going over their choices with them off of the kids menu. Then the waiter says we also have a brownie sundae and the kids eyes lit up. Unfortunately their eyes were bigger than their stomach and they could only finish half and the sundae was double the price of the kids menu choices. Tip to waiter… Don’t try to upsell because it may affect your tip.

Going through the drive through better check your bag before leaving! Happen 3 times to me… won’t be back!

First experience was horrible. Waited forever for someone to seat us. Finally, the boy cleaning the windows stopped and came over. Never said one word and threw down some menus on a table. I had to ask if that was for us. Food wasn’t good enough to outweigh the service. I will however get shake from the drive thru.

Only reason for a «2» is because everyone has always been nice… other than that: cold, sloppy burgers; no napkins; slow-​as-​hell service; no one can make change without the machine telling them so… wish (for the first Steak n Shake in a long time) it was better. This is trip number 4 or 5… will no longer go back.

We’ve visited this location several times in recent months, always a pleasant experience. Clean, friendly staff, and the burgers are perfection! The Happy Hour pricing of drinks and shakes is a big plus! I always bring family or friends and they enjoy the treat.

I like the burgers at this chain… I find the meat flavorful and tasty. The thin cut fries are okay (they’re meh). What really separates this chain is the diner style table service which gives you a throwback 1950s feel. The milk shakes are out of this world good and one should try the chili as a side dish. They also have diner era sides like cottage cheese (can you imagine them serving THIS at a McD’s or BK?).
So what about this location? It’s relatively new and has their modern layout. Everything looks clean and well kept. But the service seems a little slow. I went in with my family the other day and we waited about 15 minutes to get a table (expect to wait too). Then it took what seemed like an eternity to get our food after we ordered it. I am of the belief that our server forgot to place the order, since tables seated long after us got their food much faster. The milk shakes came out a full 15 minutes before our meal. What made this food delay even worse was that when my meal finally was served the burger was luke warm and the fries chilled to touch. I sent it back and they made me a fresh burger plate (another 10 minutes).
What’s the Southern passive aggressive term? «Bless their hearts».
