This store has terrible customer service. We waited for 20 minutes to be helped and finally walked out. The employees are rude and ignore customers. Go elsewhere!!!

This store is to my husband what craft stores are to me… crack! He can spend hours in here. We stay way longer than I can walk. Now I understand his whining about Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.
I like the girls clothes here and my girls get their swimsuits here sometimes. We love the girly camo and all that. I like that they carry everything in one store and a bigger selection than Walmart and the like.
One night my husband was working in the pouring rain to get everyone’s power back on. He and his buddies were soaked and cold. I made a run to Gander Mountain and bought several rain suits and took them out to the guys. No one else anywhere had them. It made working in the rain all night a little better.
Okay I admit it… I like this store too only I don’t shop here for very long. I wish they’d bring back the big comfy furniture they had when they first opened. It was a great spot to chat with the other tired wives and rest our feet.

I decided to stop by Gander to check out the pricing on gun range ammo and I was bit floored by the steep prices. This store is enormous and it offers everything you can think of when it comes to outdoor activities. They also have a lot of apparel for men and women but despite the 50% clearance on select items, it was expensive. They offer specialty apparel such as t-​shirts and hoodies from Wounded Warrior Project, Smith & Wesson, NRA to name a few. They also offer clothing for the purpose of concealing weapons and a lot of hunting and fishing gear.
In terms of the ammo, a box of 350 rounds of 9 mm was $ 130.00. If you search online, you will find 1000 rounds for $ 250.00 and sometimes less, so Gander’s prices are not competitive for those of us who go to the range often. I didn’t bother checking anything else after seeing those prices. This store is nestled behind I-​75 and you must take SW 40^th Ave which is off SR 40 to find it.

As far as fishing gear goes they’re average at best. They do have a decent selection of rods, reels & electronics

I love the store and could spend a lot of time wandering around. They have everything you could need for hunting or fishing and they have it in stock. My latest trip was to pick up some more camo pants to match my other hunting gear. Every place in Gainesville was out of stock, as some of them only get one shipment at the beginning of hunting season. That’s not a problem at Gander. The sales on Black Friday meant I ended up buying more than I intended, as I often do anyway.
Yes, they can be a little overpriced on some items, though if it means not paying shipping and waiting on delivery from an online store, I don’t mind. I don’t see them to be any more overpriced than any other hunting/​fishing supply place that has good volume and selection (unlike the weak selection at places like Sports Authority or WalMart).
The one aspect of the store I can’t comment on is the firearms. I see an awful lot up on the wall, but don’t even bother looking. My dad is a gunsmith and FFL dealer, so I have no need to look at firearms in a retail shop.

I know I’m not the first to say this, but you can buy the same stuff elsewhere for a lot less money !
Great layout, great selection, we love browsing to see what new things they have.
Great gun, hunter, fishing selection. Probably the best in the area.
But do you shopping around before you buy, their prices are much higher than their competitors !

Almost as good as Bass Pro

Stay stay stay away from their online store. Merchant will post amazing sales for several days only to cancel sale and transaction days later. I’ve contacted merchant and have asked to remove me from any customer/​marketing list. Classic bait and switch.

Incredible selection of items for many sports and outdoor activities.
Interesting shoes. It’s really nice to be actually handle the long guns.
Everything is way over priced. Ammunition is not well stocked and they are constantly out of even the popular calibers.
I also find the sales people impatient, snotty and not very knowledgeable. Their gunsmiths never have time to fix anything or offer good advice.

Gander Mountain is hella crazy. Wanna distract your husband for a day? a week? send him to Gander. It has more guns then the Taliban and makes you remember who really lives in Ocala: D Well protected good olé boys.

I cant believe this place has gone this long without a review.
When I first went to Gander I was in the market for some snake boots. I recently had been walking through nests of snakes in my hunting club and couldn’t risk a bite any longer.
what a blessing in disguise
I went there the first time with my girlfriend not really knowing what to expect.
when I first arrived I was just amazed at how big the actual building was. the entrance is made up to look like a log cabin.
there is not one outdoor sport or activity that they don’t not cater to. The have huge sections of boots camping gear an enormous gun section complete with an in house gunsmith.
they carry hunting dog training stuff
clothes cammo fishing shirts and hats
they have a huge archery department with knowledgeable experts
huge selection of bows
an indoor archery range
a section dedicated to tree stands
hunting decoys
3d archery targets
allot of trail cams (enough to choose from and be picky)
they have scents and attractants
for fishing they have everything you need and then allot of stuff you don’t.
lures live baits boxes reels rods nets cast nets a counter where you can ask experts
the first time I went I literally spent 2 ½ hours walking around. i got a chance to talk to allot of people that worked there and everybody had the knowledge of the products you would expect.
Bottom line– Gander Mountain is the absolute best outdoor store Ive ever been to. If you call yourself an outdoors man and have never been. drop what your doing and get there today
