We visited historic Occoquan last month and stopped into the So Olive shop. Having been in a similar type of olive oil and balsamic vinegar store in Middleburg a few years ago, we expected the shop and products to be laid out in a similar fashion.
We purchased several items from the store and got the chance to compare their Herb-​infused olive oil with a pricey Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil purchased from Costco.
Besides the taste, the oil from So Olive just tasted … more robust; more «meaty» than the store-​bought brand. Its viscosity was thicker on the palate and was made more evident when a bread dipping mix was added to the oil, as it absorbed the oil more than the thinner, store-​bought oil.
We were very pleased by the olive oil and plan to return to So Olive again.
