Supremely disappointed by the food here. Ordered with a group of 8 people and the general consensus was negative to fair. I ordered tacos and both the carnitas and carne asada was extremely dry. Texture was crunchy due to being over cooked. The fish taco I had was also mediocre. Best received dish from our group was a chicken quesadilla. I’ve had a lot of Mexican food from Southern California and I wasn’t expecting something comparable. But I was surprised at the lackluster quality.

I had a large order planned. Been trying to get through for 30 minutes and get a busy tone. This has happened to me before. 45 minutes before closing time I think they just take the phone off the hook or simply don’t have call waiting. The food is decent but I won’t be trying again.

It is the unfortunate point of the year where all the mexican restaurants are closed until some months from now. Though I am a fan of both rojos, Cinco de Mayo is true authentic mexican cuisine. This place is fresh, as fresh as it gets as far as homestyle oaxacan food. Everything is made with no short cuts, handmade grilled tortillas, homemade guac. whats worse than biting into a burrito with guac thats not made fresh…, mole, horchata rice milk, chorizo, and many other traditional favorites you can’t get at the shore. Many people may not like this place as much as others(by seeing underwhelmed reviews) its an obvious difference of preparation style than what Mexican restaurants fit for the american pallet, but all aside it tastes like actually eating in mexico. I love tex mex and even taco bell when I’m trying to get fast food hahaha, but cinco is great and portions are fulfilling. The camarones diablo platter is so good and they arnt shy about putting in the spice. Honestly everything on the menu is good and have more options than the others on the island, why i like it so much. I usually get take out but eating in is great too! Service is good, not like a 5 star restaurant but good for what the place is, i don’t understand how unhappy someone can be when the meals arnt even expensive in the first place! Anyhow check this place out if your looking for some traditional Mexican for breakfast lunch & dinner.

I lived in San Diego and ate thousand of burritos there. This place is quite satisfying. I’m there almost every Wednesday.

When I first walked in, I found the smell here very unpleasant. Not quite sure what it was, perhaps the oil in the fryer needed changing? But I’m glad I stayed, because the food was delicious. Simple and classic, with lovely presentation. My veggie burrito was well balanced, stuffed and cooked to perfection. My family enjoyed their tacos and chimichanga. I haven’t had horchata that good in a long time, I couldn’t resist ordering a second. And to top it off, the homemade flan(napolitano, the other kind is store bought) was amazing.

I ordered take out from here tonight. The food was pretty good but the guacamole needed more flavor. The Chicken Verdes were good but I would have liked them to be more spicy. Overall a good mexican spot for OC.

Hole-in-the-wall restaurant with some of the most DELICIOUS Mexican food I have ever had. Super authentic, especially for Ocean City, NJ. It’s a little bit off the beaten path, but worth the walk to 10th and West. Order the fajitas, you won’t regret it!

Can only explain the positive reviews for this restaurant as people«settling» for whatever passes as food at the shore. First, the service was poor. Three times our waitress came to our table to ask us if everything was ok… problem was she never stopped walking past the table to hear our answer. Virtually everyone who came in after us to eat-in were served ahead of us. When the meal finally arrived(35 minutes after placing our order), it was left on the counter – inches away from a half dozen takeout customers hovering over the counter area — for at least five minutes while our waitress socialized. The food was equally unimpressive. My daughters steak quesadillas was bland and composed of very fatty, stringy beef. My sons tacos were equally plain and lukewarm. My enchiladas were so saturated in red sauce that the tortillas were mush. My wife’s fajitas were fairly tasty — the only salvageable part of our experience. Cmon OC diners — don’t settle for experiences like this just because«it’s the shore.»

We come to Ocean City every year at least two or three times a year. We are always looking for a good place to be our«spot». So this place is a hidden gem, if you like authentic Mexican food and like to get a good meal at fair price this place is for you. Every meal we ordered was excellent, we started with the grilled steak nachos. they were awesome .I ordered the gorditas chicharones. if you don’t know what chicharones are, it’s basically Mexican bacon. everyone was loving their food and six of us had meals for under eighty bucks. I would recommend this place highly. it’s our new«spot».

Solid Mexican food. The guacamole is very good, the chicken burrito was generously filled. The tacos are on the smaller size when compared to the burrito. The bang for the buck here is pretty good considering quality and the portion sizes.

My family and I moved from California to New Jersey and we have been out of luck finding delicious Mexican food till two summers ago. Now ever time we vacation to cape may we always find time to eat here. Please note that the food is so good therefore the wait may be a little longer then normal, my suggestion is to get an appetizer and an extra bottle of wine and stop being in a rush because it’s worth it. Absolutely amazing food fallowed by pleasant service. Worth the time to sit relax and enjoy one another in the great area of cape may.

Food was ok. Chips were saturated in grease, inedible. Chile Relleno was good as were the Tacos. The restroom is unisex and a bit dirty. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall ok.

You know how sometimes you eat a meal and you’re like, «huh, maybe that was the best ______food I’ll eat in my lifetime.» I’m not sure if this was the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten in my lifetime, but it’s a contender. Maybe it’s because I wanted to love it here, maybe because of the sweet, underdog exterior, or because of the endearing staff. All I know is that this place made me and my stomach so happy. There were eleven in our party, and though the staff initially looked overwhelmed, we managed to get in and out in less than an hour. Not only that, but there was even a vegetarian section of the very diverse, very authentic menu. Everything tasted fresh and had a homey feel. So good that in addition to leaving a fairly generous tip, I felt compelled to leave a note saying, «Thank you! Everything was delicious.»

I’d driven by this restaurant several times and always wondered if it’d be any good. We finally checked it out, and it was pretty delicious. It’s small inside with no frills. The food is authentic Mexican — it’s not drowned in gloopy cheese and tons of sauces. The flavors and ingredients are very fresh. So lets talk about the tortillas. Some of the items we ordered were served with fresh tortillas on the side. They were delicious. I ended up eating mine plain because they were so good. We tried the chiles rellenos, which were really good. The cheese inside was warm, but not melted, and when I saw it I thought I’d prefer melted cheese, but it was fresh and delicious. We also tried the chicken enchiladas verde, which were good — the chicken inside was a little dry on its own, but with the sauce on the plate and the table, it was very good. My boyfriend also got something delicious — not sure what it was — very similar to my enchiladas, but the tortillas were fried so they were crispy. He also got a tongue taco. I’d never tried tongue before, but everything else was so delicious, I wanted to give it a shot. It was very good — I don’t have any other tongue to compare it too, but it tasted just like the delicious fatty part of a grilled steak, which is a good thing in my book! The guacamole was the best I’ve had at a restaurant. The tortilla chips are freshly made. The avocado that topped our dishes was absolutely perfect, just ripe enough, not too hard, not too mushy. It was really good. Everything was great, and the service was wonderful — I’m writing this at 7am and wondering if they’re open for breakfast!

Such a cute little place, but the food has huge flavor. I ordered the Chilaquiles rojos o vendes with green chili sause and steak. I was blown away by the flavor and portion size. I will definitely be returning.

Not good. I was very disappointed in the food and service. They messed up our order and said it was not a big deal and took a dollar off and did not offer to remake .Was like a bad version of chipolte. Warm water and no ice? Service and food is very bad. I can’t say enough to not eat here. Very dirty little café.

Amazing food best Mexican you can get anywhere. I’ve eating mexican food in Mexico, California, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Chicago, Wisconsin, Connecticut… you name it and nothing comes close to how awesome Cinco de Mayo is. The tortillas are home made and so good. I don’t usually give 5 stars but Cinco de mayo is sooo good . **Food Tip** always ask for a side of the ranch dressing. It’s amazing and is good with chips, food and of course the taco salad.
