My husband and I just left Ocean City, NJ after a great 3 day weekend at the Northwoods Inn. Once we arrived we met John and his dog Cokely. John told us everything we needed to about staying with he and his wife Marge. We were told that breakfast is served between 8:30 — 10:30AM and we could just come downstairs at our leisure. We went to our room which was on the 3rd floor. John told us the central air was just repaired and just in case it was hot they put in a window A/C unit. Well the room was plenty cool even on days when it reached 90 degrees. We took advantage of using a pair of the multiple beach bikes John and Marge had in the basement at no extra charge. John pointed us in the direction of several local restaurants and even said if we wanted to bring food back we were welcome to set up at one of the breakfast tables and enjoy dinner there. We took advantage of that and brought back some dinner. This is when we met Marge who couldn’t have been nicer. The next morning we got up and went downstairs. To find fresh coffee, hot water for tea, and, orange juice. We had a small bite to eat and headed to the beach on the bikes. We were only four or five blocks from the boardwalk. John and Marge even provided beach tags. Later in the night we took advantage of the multiple rocking chairs on the front porch. Which were very comfortable. Sunday morning we got up went downstairs and sat down for breakfast. It was nice having several separate tables to sit at. My husband and I went to one other bed & breakfast in Frederick County MD where we were forced to sit at large dinning room table with four other couples. Meanwhile the husband and wife owner forced us to go around the table, introduce ourselves, explain what we did for a living, and explain why we were there. Thank God John and Marge we the exact opposite. They came in to see if we interested in what Marge was making for the day, chatted for a few minutes, and went to do what they wanted. In closing we had a great time and it was well worth the money. Great value for what’s included. John and Marge do a great job and seem very proud of what they do. Ask John about the local history. Apparently, the house was once beach front property. John’s also gotten numerous trophies for his Corvette.

I just came back from a fabulous 3 day stay at the Northwood Inn! My mom and I were looking for a place we could get away to for just a few days without having to do much work and the Northwood Inn definitely fits the bill! Marj and John were absolutely amazing, and the house was beautiful and updated with tons of amenities. Our favorite part about our stay was the convenience of the free bikes available for use by guests, and the beach tags and the outdoor shower both of which they let us use even after we had checked out! Breakfast each day was good(though we only got to see what they served during the week which was more laid-back then the weekend menu), and really the only even somewhat inconvenient things were the issue of parking(but even that wasn’t that difficult) and the fact that our room which was all the way on the 3rd floor had a bathroom but it wasn’t attached to our room. Otherwise we couldn’t have had a more enjoyable experience. The bikes made it easy to get around, the location was convenient for getting to both shopping on Asbury Ave. and the beach/boardwalk, and the gardens and the roof deck really put everything over the top. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. If you go, be sure to say hi to Harry the adorable little poodle who lives there, and be sure to talk to John about the historic buildings in the Ocean City, he is seriously a wealth of information!

My wife and I just stayed a for a weekend in the Tower Suite and everything looks just like the website. John, Marj, and their staff are very professional and attentive while at the same time being very non-instrusive. The breakfasts were good and the room was spotless. The only negative thing is the sometimes lack of parking if you stay in-season. The Inn has three spaces and if you can’t get one of them you might have to park a block or more away to get what you can. Overall the Northwood is a winner and the Best B&B in O.C.
