We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was everything we expected. The lobby and common areas were surprisingly clean and modern. Check-in was easy and on-site parking lot makes it very easy to unload your car. The pool was clean and the pool-side café is convenient to grab a quick bite. You can’t beat the location — it’s a minute walk to the beach and a few minutes to the heart of the boardwalk. Rooms are ok, the bathroom seemed pretty new and everything was clean. They leave a small surprise for the kids every night, which was a very nice touch. The on-site restaurant was good; however, prices were through the roof. I could have used a larger kitchenette and a microwave oven for some in-room cooking to save $. The staff was friendly. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend this place

My husband and I stayed at Port-O-Call the 3rd week in May. I’m happy to report that Port-O-Call is a clean, beautiful, well-run hotel. From the moment we arrived we received excellent customer service from every single employee. Whenever we saw an employee in the hallway, they always made eye contact and said«hello.» Their wonderful attitude and pleasant demeanor was evident in all aspects of our stay. Our room was immaculately clean and beautiful, and had a lovely balcony and a great view. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Our room had a small kitchen area with a sink and coffee pot, the sink was so clean I could see my reflection! I just cannot say enough good things about this hotel. There was one stand out employee that I want to mention. Rene is a young man that we encountered quite a few times during our stay. When we checked in, Rene was there to offer to carry our bags, he was pleasant and friendly, but then we started seeing Rene everywhere at Port-O-Call, and he was always busy doing something helpful for someone. Whether he was carrying bags or sweeping up in the restaurant area, he was smiley and pleasant. Whenever we encountered him in the elevator, he inquired if we were enjoying our stay. My husband and I started noticing him and commenting to each other, «there goes that hardworking guy again.» He is a wonderful asset to the hotel, and I hope the management recognizes his professionalism and excellent service to their customers.

We stayed at the Port O Call with some friends this past weekend. We had four hotel rooms near each other and our group consisted of 8 adults and 9 children. The hotel staff went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable stay. They had cookies and juice boxes for the kids each day and were quick when called upon. I asked for my room service tray to be picked up and someone came within minutes and also called down because the safe wasn’t working and someone came right away to fix it. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. The elevators are a bit small and the grill at the pool is a bit pricey(room service was cheaper) but the cleanliness of hotel and friendly staff more than made up for it. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed for two nights. The staff was very accommodating. We arrived prior to 3:00 check in and went to the beach. The front desk texted us at 2 that our room was ready, which was nice. The rooms have Keurig coffeemakers, which I do not like(k cups are terrible for the environment. To add insult to injury, when I went to check on my coffee, it exploded, spewing piping hot coffee grounds all over my body. I told the front desk and they were very sorry and concerned. They even offered me a doctor. I was fine; just a few small burn spots. I left a note on the machine to let housekeeping know that it had malfunctioned. When I got home I realized I had forgotten my pillow in the room. I called the desk and was connected to housekeeping. The housekeeping manager was off for the day but returned my call the next day. I asked about my pillow and told her about the coffeemaker explosion. She said she’d get back to me. The next day she called to tell me that they had found my pillow and they were shipping it free of charge because of the inconvenience from the coffeemaker. Excellent customer service.

Restaurant is very good and they have improved it 100%. Stayed for one week. And I have stayed here several times in season over the last 15 years with my family. Service was good. Front desk staff are very attentive and were the best I have seen over the years. House keeping still seems to be hit or miss overall. This has been a constant during my visits. But the hotel is very responsive and always makes things right when you let them know. Hotel could use a little TLC in the way of exterior painting, but that is normal for shore properties eventually. Property does show its age in some areas of the hotel. Glenn Losch the manager really cares and is hands on manager. My family and I enjoyed our stay. Overall the bell men, front desk, maintenance, pool, grill, and restaurant staff get A+ for service. Great job! We will be returning. Best place to stay in Ocean City!

We just stayed at the Port-O-Call for 5 nights and THISHOTELISABSOLUTELYAMAZING. They have done a major renovation. Most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in, staff is SOFRIENDLYANDCOURTEOUS. Hotel is IMPECCABLYCLEAN!!! They must pump some kind of air fresheners into the lobby as there is a fresh clean scent every time you enter the lobby, it’s a nice touch! The lobby décor is incredible. So clean and fresh, beautiful color scheme. Rooms and bathrooms have all been redone. We stayed in Ocean front room for 3 days and bay view for the other two. I would highly recommend ocean front top floors, and if you don’t want to spend the extra $$$ the bay view/parking lot is better on upper floors. This hotel is $$$, but so is everything in OC. We’ve been coming here for years and usually rent a condo as we have had a crowd with us in the past, this was the most relaxing vacation here we have ever had. I commend the staff for being so friendly and professional. We will definitely be back next year. Go ahead and splurge on this hotel, you won’t be sorry!!!

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Port O Call this summer. We stayed from Mon-Thurs before the season really began(mid-June), so I don’t know if that matters or not. The hotel was not too busy during this week, which was obviously fine with me :) From the moment we pulled up, the friendly bell boys welcomed us and offered to help with all of our stuff. We arrived at noon and our room was not ready yet, so we went straight to the beach and then the pool for a few hours after check in. Check in was smooth and friendly(they require 1 night paid in full during time of booking). You have to sign for the pool and beach passes at check in, and there is a charge if you lose them, so dont! You can tell right away that this is not your average beach place — it is modern, clean and well-lit. Friendly, knowledgeable staff at the front desk that have been working there for many summers. The lobby is small, but inviting — there is a full service restaurant, and small gift shop and sitting area with comfortable couches. The lobby also provided a nice place to escape the heat during the day! Pool was small but clean. Would recommend more umbrellas poolside as there were only 4(in the corners) and with little kids, this is always a concern! Restaurant was clean, inviting and flexible with kids’ meals. They even delivered lunch poolside for us… Only 3 blocks from the south side of the boardwalk and ground floor access, with elevator. Room was made up every day nicely and extra towels were left, upon request. Bed rails were installed quickly, per request. My 3 year old son keeps talking about our vaca here, so I know he liked it! Would stay again there next summer.

We really enjoyed our stay!!! We arrived Thursday June 18th and just left today the 22nd. We had a beautiful corner room on the 7th floor with breathtaking views of the Bay. The room was furnished with two double beds with soft linens and a thick comforter. Also had a full dresser with a 32 inch flat screen tv. There is a side cabinet with sink and an ice bucket. Plenty of storage there for dry snacks and your wine! The bathroom has a closet inside, with double sinks outside the toilet and shower area. Lots of free toiletries provided. The pool attendants and front desk staff were great! Very nice, pleasant and helpful. Shannon and CJ were the two standouts! Housekeeping was not consistent in cleaning the room and it didn’t have the same level of cleanliness as when we checked in. I didnt reduce my rating because I actually met the housekeeping supervisor and she was on those housekeepers like white on rice our first day! She checked and double checked our room. I hope she can whip those housekeepers into shape. I noticed a half eaten breadstick on the floor that was not food we brought. We didn’t pick it up on purpose to see how long it would sit there. After three days we threw it away. Next I made coffee one morning and spilled sugar. I didnt clean it on purpose and when we returned to the room it had crystallized!!! Yuck. So I cleaned it myself. The manager sent a thank you note via email and that was a nice touch upon checkout. We will be returning in August and I’m so excited!!! Hope housekeeping improves!

This was out fist visit to the Port-O-Call Hotel. We visited Ocean City years ago but always rented a house. The hotel is extremely clean and well maintained. The room was spotless but a bit over priced for off season time. We had a king with coast view and room was large but the TV was very small for the size of the room. You could hardly see tv from the bed. The furniture was ok but the table was a bit beat up. There was a sink, small refrigerator and coffee maker in room but no microwave which would have been nice. The service was good. The hotel is right on the board walk and the beach which is very convenient.

We have been staying here for years. Even when I was a kid we stayed here. Not many choices for hotels right on the boardwalk but this a place that is at least consistent and well maintained. Pool is great and the pool deck is large enough to have your own space to spread out. The room we had seemed to have had some remodeling however it was a little sloppy but oh well. Restaurant convenient on the first floor of the hotel however the food is ok. We ate primarily for breakfast for the convenience. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location just outside of the area where the Boardwalk gets busy/active. Steps away from the beach; we were fortunate to have an amazing waterfront view. Service is good but not outstanding and not in line with the rate you pay. There were several instances when we asked staff for advice or suggestions and, while they were very friendly, they were not knowledgeable. I’ve experienced more local expertise at chain discount hotels.

My first time ever to visit ocean city. In looking for beachfront hotels there is not a lot to choose from. This is an older hotel that has been recently renovated. We had an ocean front room with a great view. They have done a decent job in updating I thought it was a little over priced but from what I saw they really don’t have any competition. The staff was nice did not try the restaurant

I’ve been coming to Ocean City forever. Owned a house there on the ocean. Stayed in the Sindia apts with my parents when I was little. Now I’m in NY, so when we go to Ocean City, it’s always the Port O Call on the ocean. The rooms are beautifully decorated with all the amenities and the housekeeping staff is attentive. Every room has a view of something — the ocean, the town, the bay, the boardwalk. The high floors are the best, and of course oceanfront is wonderful. There is a good sized swimming pool, plenty of lounge chairs and towels. An attractive restaurant serves breakfast and lunch in the lobby. Ocean City is a dry town so you won’t get a Bloody Mary with your breakfast. Every visit has been sensational and the staff bends over backwards to make it that way.

Considering how packed this hotel is in the summertime, and even weekends in winter can be busy, I can’t believe there aren’t more reviews for this hotel. We have been coming to Port-O-Call for over 40 years now, not necessarily every year, but often enough. Lately we’ve been coming down more often while we wait for a condo remodel(thanks, Sandy!). Our favorite room is the front corner king. It has a large picture window by the wet-bar/refrigerator unit facing the beach, and the balcony is on the side of the hotel facing south.(If you’re on an upper floor, you have an unobstructed view down the beach.) There are very few rooms with king sized beds in this hotel, and this room is very spacious. There is a small table with two straight chairs, a sofa facing the TV, and a couple of other comfortable chairs. The bathroom is also spacious, with a separate room for the toilet and tub, and a separate area for the sinks, hairdryer, etc. The closet is also in this little dressing area and the closet does not have a door, but a door separates the dressing area from the rest of the room. Each room has a Keurig individual serve coffee-maker, but they ration the K-cups to four a day, not much for two adults, especially considering those room prices. They’re also economizing on the toiletries now, with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in dispensers on the tub wall. There’s not even a bar of soap for the tub. The rooms and bathrooms have always been immaculate when we arrived, but housekeeping can be spotty at times once you’re there. The thing is, Port-O-Call is the only game in town. There is no other nice hi-rise(9 floors + penthouse) to compete with. They are right on the Boardwalk, but the closest shops are at least a block away, so you’re not bothered by excessive foot traffic. The room costs are tolerable off-season, especially if you can travel on weekdays(ask about their specials). Costs go through the roof, in my opinion, during season. I guess when you’re the only game in town, and the hotel is jammed in the summer, they take what they can get, when they can get it. So yes, we keep coming back, mostly for the spaciousness of the room and the spectacular views. They do have a pool and poolside snack bar open during season. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, even during season; you can check hours and seasonal closings on the web site or with a phone call. They do have a bathroom and shower in the lower level of the hotel, so you can run in from the beach for a quick pit-stop without having to run all the way up to your room — and there’s an outdoor shower there too, where you can rinse off sand. I did notice in their brochure that you are welcome to use those facilities on the day of your departure, so you can squeeze in that last day at the beach — but you have to move your car from the parking lot at check-out time, so I’m not sure how helpful that would be.(I understand the policy — their lot is small, and they need to make room for the guests checking in, but still…) They have done a pretty decent job of upkeep over the years, which can’t be an easy task with sandy kids running in and out all summer, pretty heavy traffic in common areas, salt air all year, and unpredictable storms. The individual rooms are also redone periodically, and while the furniture isn’t what I would call luxurious, it is certainly functional and attractive. BTW, last visit we heard that the restaurant will be closed for remodeling«soon.» — I’m assuming this wouldn’t be ’til winter, but depending on what time of year you’re reading this, you might want to call ahead, especially if you’re just going in for brunch.

Great family hotel in Ocean City. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean, and had great views. The décor was not my style, but still made for a pleasant environment. The bathroom was especially spacious. I enjoyed the pool and the proximity to the boardwalk. You’re close enough to walk to the boardwalk shops, but far enough not to hear the noise of the crowds. I would definitely stay here again.

Port-O-Call’s restaurant is what you expect from a middle class type hotel. The food is overpriced with a predictable but tasty selection. I’ve eaten there several times and only one meal was memorable– they make an outrageously good roasted chicken. The also make tasty breakfasts and do the buffet thing on the weekend. The set up a «kid’s» room with coloring, cartoons and video games and a baby sitter so parents can eat in peace.
