Came to visit this place for a friends birthday while visiting the beach. The stuff is pretty friendly, the crowd was fun, and a live band kept the place upbeat. The bar had a good amount of beers and the selection was great. Not exactly the cleanest place, but a nice low-key place to chill and have a beer or you won’t have to wait too long

*BEWARE* HEALTHHAZARD! A group of friends and I got caught in the rain on the boardwalk so we figured we could grab a beer at the Purple Moose and relax for a bit. Cheap beer — check. Decent Music– check. Negligent staff — double check. A friend of mine sliced her foot on a broken glass laying in the middle of the floor, things happen I understand that but when the bartenders and doorman were informed they pretty much dismissed me. We asked for band-aids of which they had none, so I had to run down to the info desk on the boardwalk who kindly offered me a few. After stopping the blood and wrapping it in a band aid & paper towels we walked back to the bar to finish our beers b/c eff it — now we really needed one. When we walked back to the bar top we saw that all of the glass was STILL there on the ground. I informed the bartenders and he said to speak to the doorman about it, who said he has already taken care of. BASICALLY no one gave two ****s! No apologies from anyone, I asked to speak to a manager and was told there wasn’t one on site. I’ve never been treated that poorly at any establishment.

If I could give less than one star, I would. We were paid more attention to by the ID checker who grew up in our home area. We sat at the bar at 5pm on a Thursday to be totally ignored for over 10 minutes when we decided to give up and go have a cocktail elsewhere. This place clearly has business because of location. Skip it.

We went to the Purple Moose to enjoy a fun night in Ocean City, but faced an unfriendly situation. While we were dancing on the dancefloor a friend of mine stepped on the stage to which there were no signs against and for which he was summarily reprimanded. He was told that«if you do that again, your party will be kicked out», but after a few minutes of being left unattended all 20 of us were asked to leave. Even though my friend immediately accommodated the staff’s request to step off the stage and was given just a warning, we were all asked to leave without any further provocation. The space was fun and we asked to stay but the staff said we had to leave because of the«stage incident». Not fun.

I love when places are creative with their names. Makes we want to try them all. They don’t serve food but they have a food delivery hotline for local restaurants who will deliver right to the bar. My spirits cost me $ 5.50 so not as high as I was expecting it to be since it’s a tourist trap on the boardwalk. Really like this place. We will be back.

I’ve been coming to OCMD since I was a child with my family and then in my early 20’s with my friends and have ALWAYS walked by the Purple Moose Saloon but never had the change to check it out until this past weekend. And it was everything I expected! A deceivingly large space once you enter… there’s a big bar in the center when you first enter the bar and large space in the back for dancing perhaps? Bartenders were friendly, local patrons were alot of fun. Day drinking on the boardwalk is always a good time, and the Purple Moose Saloon added to my afternoon delight :)

Came across this place while walking the boardwalk… looks deceivingly dark and dingy, but it wasn’t bad at all when we went in. Planned to have a drink and ended up having a few rounds with my fiancé. We even got to play pool. Would definitely come back when the weather is warmer.

Stopped in here for a few drinks on our way down the boardwalk on Saturday afternoon. Although you’re right on the boardwalk the inside gives you a more of a club-like atmosphere. It was afternoon, so no one was on the dance floor but you could tell from the set up that it’s quite the party atmosphere when the sun goes down! The people were nice, and they even have a little shop near the entrance where we purchased some gum and 5 hour energies(gotta keep up our stamina for a day of drinking!) The music was great and we had a lot of fun and laughs here. I would definitely go back. I heard from my friends I was with that it seemed much bigger than it was the last time they were there so I’m not sure if there was major renovations or not. There was a LOT of space. But narrow behind the bar.

Originally went here only for a drink and ended up staying for a few rounds. Live band was grear and the prices pretty reasonable for a boardwalk bar. Bartenders were busy but still very fast with drinks.

BYOF. Belly up to stare at tellies and play Keno while the skies are overcast. The deeper into the bar you go, the stronger the UV lighting. The bartender jams out with a smile no matter the time of day because his job is to promote the Top 40s party that never stops even if the dance floor by the bathrooms is deserted. Grape bombs are gross, don’t do those shooters. Don’t go light on whipped cream with the orange cream slushy, because without it you’ll miss the creamsicle taste… and along with the maraschino cherry, it actually cuts the diabetic sweetness levels down a notch.

Thank you, Purple Moose for making my Birthday weekend so memorable! Wandered in here with 2 of my girlfriends after seeing their ‘Best Bloody Mary’ sign around noon on a Saturday and though I wouldnt say it was THEBEST– it was pretty good. Our bartender Scott was a gent– kept us laughing and even offered up a free round of shots for my bday. The DJ(jimmy?) was playing AWESOME80s stuff that was totally up our alley and we ended up staying FAR longer than we had intended because the company, music and drinks were just too good to leave. The manager Charlene was a total doll and made us promise to come in later that night for drinks on our way to our ultimate location(seacrets– not that it matters). Our second venture that night into The Moose was possibly even better than the first. The bar was packed so we found a table near the stage however Charlene saw us, made room at the bar for us and then bought our first round! Our bartender Bobby was everything a girl hopes her bartender will be: dreamy, funny, and managed to make us feel as if we were the only 3 ladies in the room. Well done, Bobby! Youre bartending skills are truly masterful! We never made it to Seacrets– The Moose had everything we needed! Fantastic afternoon and a totally great night. I will, without a doubt make it a point to drop into The Purple Moose again!

Come here to drink and drink only because that is your only option, they don’t serve food, which is fine with me, I go to bars to drink not eat. Funny thing is you can bring food from outside with no issue but don’t try to bring in any outside liquid. I came strolling in munching an ice cream cone with no problem while another member of my group was denied entry until a bottled water was finished. No thrills bar with a DJ and an obnoxious but decent hype or mic man. Didn’t stay very long so who knows how long the party rocks. Was able to try something called the purple shot, have no idea what was in it, it tasted like grape kool aid but still had a decent kick. I would say this place is worth a visit, if you’re walking the boardwalk and want to stop in for a quick beverage.

At 11 on a Friday night, this was one of the only places on the boardwalk that was still bumpin. Literally aside from the tacky t-shirt stores, nothing else was open. There was definitely a mixed crowd from the younger memorial day vacation crowd to older locals. Still it was obviously a favored spot due to the amount of people inside(not enough to overwhelm you and plenty of room to manuver while inside. We returned again on Saturday night(there was a live band so there was a $ 5 cover). The band performed on the small stage at the far end of the room; again there was a pretty decent sized crowd. We got there early enough that we scored seats before the majority of people arrived, so we had a place to hang out. It’s a great place to hang out if you don’t want to be too dressed up and just want to have a good time in a casual place!

There aren’t a ton of drinking options right on the boardwalk, so when we saw the Purple Moose, we decided to stop in and grab some liquid nourishment. The Good: Friendly bartender. It was damn entertaining to watch drunk 40-something’s dance to bad music. Decent sized dance floor and stage for live music. The Average: Typical prices for this area. Huge space that felt more like a strip club than a bar. The Pathetic: — The bouncers. These guys couldn’t even shave! Having worked in the industry for YEARS, I wouldn’t trust these kids with much. And really, just because I have an out of state ID doesn’t mean it’s fake. I’m old enough to be your dad, junior!(ok, not really, but seriously… come on man!) — The bartending skills. Dry vermouth in a Manhattan? No bitters? WTF. — No draft beer. Lazy.
