As all rooms are different, I’m giving this rating based off of room #7. For a couple this was a great room at a great price. Everything seems fairly new and the room was very clean. The bathroom was a little small but this was not an issue. The only reason I give this room 4⁄5 is the stiff bed. Some might find the layout of this room a bit cramped but to me it was quite cozy. Staff is super friendly and the location is great. I would definitely stay here again, it’s an excellent value

The Sifting Sands is not a resort and quite far from it, so it should only be considered a last resort option. My husband and I found ourselves in need of a last minute hotel room on a very busy off-season weekend in Ocean City. Less than a week prior to our stay, we found a cancelation through our event’s hotel reservation service. Since we knew we needed a one night reservation in a certain area, we weren’t picky. Based on the phone calls I made prior to finding this room, most Ocean City properties require multiple night stays. So there wasn’t noticeable new dirt in room 42, but years of use and dirt from aging were apparent. There were tons of old stains on the carpet and the bathroom had rust-like dirt everywhere. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable. There was no head board and they only gave three small pillows for two people. The comforter had some light stains and the fitted sheet had a red dot on it. We pulled off the comforter and had a top of the covers night. The shower was probably the worst part of the room. There was no light in the shower and the door didn’t close, causing some minor flooding on the floor that we had to clean up. There was barely any water pressure and the shower head was pretty much stuck pointing in one direction. The room had two small bars of soap and two containers of a two-in-one shampoo conditioner. I’d recommend packing your own basic toiletries. The room had a small TV that luckily did have some cable networks in addition to the basic broadcast channels. Both the gentleman I spoke with on the phone and the lady at the front desk were very nice and friendly. I’m giving it two stars out of convenience to the boardwalk, no new dirt and the kind spirit of the employees.

Our home was damaged in Hurricane Sandy, so we were clueless about hotels in the area. We looked into a bunch of them, and this one had the most decent rates and had good reviews. Our first weekend stay in 2013 was very nice. We had a large room with a bedroom, large bathroom, futon and a kitchen with a full fridge. It was a great room(although it did smell a little like someone had been smoking). Our second weekend stay was in 2014 and we planned it about two weeks in advance and got a room no problem. This time the room was much smaller and less quality(but same price) as the room we had previously. We didn’t mind this because it was just a weekend stay and we weren’t going to be in the room much anyway. Look online before booking to see the rooms they have, because all of the rooms are very different from each other. Overall our experience here was pretty pleasant. The front desk was very kind and helpful, we didn’t hear much noise from other people staying there and it’s in a great location.

This place is amazing! I had to book a bunch of rooms for a youth group trip to Ocean City, and after calling around to many of the hotels in the area, it became quickly obvious that this was the best option by far. The owner(?) Arnie bent over backwards to help us get this set up, gave us an unbelievable rate and was incredibly nice and helpful. Because the rate he gave us was so out of this world, I was afraid it would be a total dump, but figured the youth group wouldn’t care too much, and it was only for 1 night anyways. We checked in, and I looked at almost all the rooms and they are gorgeous! They are all super clean and I believe all of them had a mini kitchenette area. Seriously, who has kitchenettes in motels at these prices!!! There is a great variety of rooms for any configuration of people; some had 2 huge beds, some had futons(more on that later) one even had a bunk bed for a family with kids. One room had obviously been newly renovated with gorgeous molding detailing and a huge queen bed pull out with a king sized bed to boot. Many of the rooms had awesome pull out futons. I personally loved the one in my room as it was a large comfy couch with a huge ottoman, but I could potentially put an extra person in my room. The only slight drawback is that some of the rooms were mildly smoky. Given that the BIG sign on the door says nonsmoking, my guess is that some inconsiderate previous guest did not observe this rule. Shame on you! Also there is cable and fast wi-fi connection. I am sitting right now on my comfy futon on the wi-fi typing this up as we speak.
