I have been a fan of The Varsity since i was young. Being local i often recommend out of towners to go there for breakfast or lunch. Foods good. However, if you are going to get take out make sure you check your order while youre still there. We get take out from there and every single time they mess an order up. Every time. Were four for four over the last couple months. Again, enjoy the food and history. Just check your take out for sure if you’re like me and love getting home and your order being wrong.

Breakfast and lunch both served 7am-2pm. Delicious food — lunch specifically. The Jersey Tomato soup is my new favorite thing. It’s more of a cream of tomato soup with some tomato chunks throughout. However, the garlic croutons and melted cheese on top make it truly spectacular. Pair it with any grilled sandwich for dipping, and you’ve got a great meal. The grilled cheese is fine, nothing special. I had the Mac Daddy burger, which was a burger topped with macaroni and cheese and Cooper Sharp cheese(And onion rings, but I requested none) and served with french fries. I LOVED the burger. It was cooked medium, as requested, and tasted fantastic. We will go back again and again, especially for the soup! I took off one star for a very cramped, awkward seating arrangement. It is very small, and not all tables are comfortable, nor is the front counter.

Took a long time to get the waitress. We let the waitress know of my son’s food allergy and she reacted like it was a bother. I ordered very simple food for him and she told me it was hard to cook for someone with an allergy. Never asked the kitchen. Then came back with missing food for him and said that’s all he can eat. She never brought our drinks. Very disappointed

Let’s just say on my week long vacation to OCNJ I visited the Varsity Inn 3 times! I can honestly only review the Red Raider combo because that’s all I eat here. The baked tomato soup is like something you’ve never experienced. It’s a creamy chunky tomato soup, topped with garlic croutons, and covered in melted cheese. It’s served alongside a grilled cheese sandwich which is nothing to rave about but compliments the soup nicely. Go here if you’re looking for a quick, delicious, reasonable meal in OC.

Great quality, very reasonable prices. We ordered the baked tots to soup, French toast and Italian omelet and they were great. The soup was the best tomato soup I’ve ever had. It’s a must eat! The French toast was made with cinnamon buns and it was absolutely delicious. Staff was also very nice and polite.

I will never come back to this place. I am a long time summer residence of ocean city and I was excited to try the Varsity Inn. Boy was that a mistake. From the beginning the hostess was ignoring my girlfriend to give our name. I mean completely looking thru her. Seating people that just walked up. The place was busy. After we finally got seated our waitress was very soft spoken. She was nice but it was hard to understand her. The food came out it was ok but my girlfriend had to send back her breakfast potatoes. They were raw and of course they never make it back to us. We are still waiting for our refill of our coffee.

My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch. I had a Rueben and he had a Rueben burger. They were both yummy and reasonable priced for this type of sporty casual restaurant. The place was packed, and space is tight. But service was quick and easy. I’d come back again.

We hadn’t been back to this place for about five years and glad we didn’t continue to write it off. We went for lunch but most of us had breakfast. Solid menu items and good execution. Very good chef salad. Pancakes were a hit. Service was good, not great, but appropriate for the type of restaurant. We will be back.

My experience with the long time hot spot, yet all new menu incorporating fresh ideas with classic charm that Varsity Inn had built its reputation on was in one word, OUTSTANDING. My husband and I dined in for their new DINNER offering and were pleasantly surprised with quality, delicious meals, perfect service, and could see the obvious care taken with all the details. We would not hesitate to go back again and again to this landmark in the heart of Ocean City, NJ!

Our go-to breakfast spot every summer. I love the Ocean City breakfast sandwich on rye. My hubby usually goes for the Greek omelette and my little one always eats(a small miracle;).

Food is always good and so is the service usually… We just had a rude blonde waitress with long hair hanging down her back and all in her face. How do you not have your waitresses wear their hair up? That’s unsanitary! She barely spoke and never checked back on us. I will make sure to never have her wait on us again if she continues to work here.

My lovely wife an I stopped for DINNER Friday night! I had a Delicious Cobb Salad with bacon, hard boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, bacon, tomatoes, fresh roasted turkey and did I mention bacon? We’ll be back for the Bavarian grilled cheese and your famous fresh roasted tomato soup!

Amazing breakfast! Their Blue Hen omelette is my dad’s favorite of all time. I always get their five star french toast which has bananas and fresh strawberries. It’s a family tradition when we are in OC to have breakfast here on weekends and recently I’ve taken my fiancé for his first visit and now he’s hooked too. Great place to come after church at the Tabernacle or a 12 mile bike ride from Sea Isle City or OC’s Boardwalk. Open air, sea breeze, and fresh local food!

Have eaten at Varsity Inn for 20+ years and have always liked their Italian omelette. However, lately, either the chef has changed or the recipe changed –very little sausage which was chopped into tiny pieces, too many peppers and very little provolone cheese on top. I hope someone there reads this and gets back to a quality Italian omelette. Also, the pancakes were very bland and tasteless.

This place is amazing. It’s been family owned and run forever. Keith runs the show, and is a delight. He makes great food, and would love to discuss politics with you. It’s been my favorite dining spots on the island since 1991, the family has been running it long before that. There is no better breakfast on the island.
