I keep forgetting this wonderful spot is open all year long.(Closed Wednesday). We just rode our bikes along the boardwalk from Asbury Park & had an excellent breakfast(both had omelets), in a relaxing room with a welcoming & personable staff. Christmas tree looks great, the food is wonderful, what more can you ask for?

Waiting on the porch for a table and they can’t let me have a cup(paying not free) of coffee because«if we let you do it we have to let everyone.» Recommend they check out how other restaurants take care of waiting customers. Not impressed by the«we can’t think past our tunnel vision» myopia.

I’ve had ice cream at day’s and the menu for The Starving Artist looked good so I decided to try it. I know where«starving» comes from. You will starve waiting for your food. I was told there was a 10 minute wait for a table. The hostess showed me which table I’d get. The one right next to it was empty but I was told I couldn’t sit there. No soon was I seated the hostess sat another party at the table I couldn’t get. Ugh! I got coffee right away and I ordered pancakes. My husband ordered an omelet. After 20 minutes and our 2nd cup off coffee I asked where our food was. The woman at the table I couldn’t have was already eating her pancakes. Another few minutes passed and we finally got served. Pancakes were OK. Not the best I’ve ever had. Husband’s omelet was good. All in all I’d say… The ice cream at day’s is really good. There are other places for breakfast.

This place is like wonderland. Or neverland. Or something like that. We eat here a few times a month and we have yet to see any of the waiters or waitresses in a pissy mood. It’s been years of patronage and no one has ever been even a tiny bit of an asshole to us or any other patrons in our presence. This is both wonderful and mildly disturbing, don’t you agree? These people are either excellent at their jobs, or completely spineless. The whole damn group is just so happy all the damn time. It’s fascinating. The food is great– always fresh. The breakfast burrito used to be my all time favorite, but something has changed– maybe the owners should consult with a burrito expert on how to bring it back to the way it was. Even though the breakfast burrito now tastes like someone from Canada or England or some other extremely non-Hispanic country is making it, Starving Artist is still my favorite place for breakfast.

This is my favorite place to eat in the Grove. The menu is diverse. Food is great! Portions to price ratio is great. And the owner is really friendly. My favorite menu item is the blackened tofu wrap. I love that they offer so many vegetarian/vegan options. This place all be perfect for families with children kids, they provide crayons on the table where you can color the paper. This place is so charming! It is actually connected to Day’s ice cream and have two entrances, you can sit inside the restaurant itself, or outside on the patio. I love how close-knit the OG community is, I have seen a few theatre productions where the patio was offered at the show’s venue, it was perfect. Overall, I just love that the Starving Artist has such a warm, inviting, small town feel.

This is my favorite place to grab food after a long day at the beach. They have beautiful open air seating. It’s a cute shades patio surrounded by a little garden. It’s a perfect place for families. The food is inexpensive and filling. If you’re a sandwich and fries guy like me then you love this place. The triple decker clubs are HUGE and can feed two. The fries are perfectly cooked. After your lunch ice cream is literally right next door. This is definitely my go to haven with the family after the beach.
