Disappointed. Not authentic Jamaican. Overpriced. Bland. Goat curry was more like a goat stew minus any vegetables. It lacked scotch bonnet and curry. For $ 24.99 I feel ripped off! How can there be no hint of curry in a curry dish? Watery soup. Goat was tender and that’s all they seem to be promising at this place. Their motto should be, «Fall off the bone tender with no flavor». It was concerning when the waiter mentioned that nothing was spicy just«well seasoned». That’s not authentic and is insulting to Jamaicans! The«jerk sauce» is basically a syrup and a sweet one at that. For all the reviews that claim«Great food» one has to wonder how tasteless these people are. The Jerk Chicken did taste jerky but lacked scotch bonnet heat and wasn’t grilled meaning the skin was slimy and not crisp. Seems like they have a crockpot filled with chicken based on the wetness of the product. The beef patties are undoubtedly frozen and possibly from a box. I get the same quality patties at my local Food Lion. Also bland and lacking spice and requiring lots of hot sauce to make palatable. For a Jamaican restaurant, you should make you own hot sauce and actually have some pride in how you represent the Island tastes. Instead, this place caters to tourists with little regard for being authentic. Also, $ 924oz Red Stripe is a joke. That comes down to $ 4.50/12oz which is overpriced at best. For all those who have praised the efforts of this place, please educate yourselves and broaden your taste profiles.

Coconut shrimp and ribs are to die for!!! I’m not a big fan of coconut shrimp but after having their’s, I can’t stop thinking about them. They are large fresh shrimp and the ribs are the best I have ever had. They fall off the bone and have so much flavor. Don’t be scared that it’s Jamaican style food… it’s not spicy hot it’s just very flavorful. Get there early as it’s a popular place.

Seated us on time, very friendly people and service. Food was great. Recommend the ribs and wings. Also, huge portions so consider splitting the entrée. Only negative… server was overloaded so service was a little slow.

stumbled upon this place based on all the locals reccomendations, first off the atmoshpere is very southern I guess. Warm welcoming hard working employees… get the RIBS and JERKWINGS insanely addictive… our server george was very attentive even though they were packed… they have something going for themselves if theyre packed when we were there on a tuesday… this is a resturant where the owner Linda acutally works in the resturant.

I had an amazing meal here a few weeks ago. The restaurant, recommended by a friend, did not disappoint. It’s funny but as we sat down, some women were at another table getting ready to leave. One of them walked over to us and said«I am so jealous of you guys, because you get to eat dinner here. I wish I could eat dinner here all over again.» Honestly, I thought she was probably drunk. But after the meal I understood what she was saying. The ribs, slaw, curried rice and cornbread were amazing! The jerk sauce only added to that, making them incredible. Can’t wait to go back… and looking for any excuse I can to be in the area just to do so!

One of, if not, the best restaurant in the area. Easy to pass and not give a change if you’re driving, but thankfully we checked Unilocal. Food was on point in every single way. Coconut shrimp was amazing. Ribs fell off the bone. Only regret was that we went here so late in the week that we didnt have a change to come again.

Good is traditional Jamaican so kinda different(jerk spices, curries) but hearty, homemade and very good. Big portions(even the«drink of the day» I ordered which was a berry sangria was huge!) so light eaters may want to pay the extra $ 2 and split a plate(such as the rob & shrimp combo) …either way plan on shelling out $ 20 – 30 per adult and $ 10 for kids. And either make reservations or be there right at 5p when they open. On an island full of «fried to death» food this unique and fresh fare is in high demand!

Showed up at 4 and they let us know that they didn’t open until 5, no big deal we went shopping for and hour and got back at 5:01. The problem I have is that when we got back at 5 they informed us that we needed reservations or they couldn’t seat us for another 2 hours if we were lucky. INFORMATION that would have been nice to know when we stopped by at 4. Wasted an evening of our vacation and now we don’t have time to stay and eat here because we are leaving. Food is probably amazing, but the customer service is complete garbage. Enough to keep me from supporting the business.

This place was excellent! Be sure to make reservations when you go, we did, and we saw why when we left. The place was jam packed on the inside and out within an hour of opening. The small space inside makes it incredibly loud and its tough to carry on a conversation without shouting. With that being said, let’s talk food. I ordered the Stamp and Go which are fried cod fritters and they were absolutely delicious. I don’t eat ribs very often but had to try them after hearing so many good reviews and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Got coconut shrimp with my meal and it was delicious as well. I’ll be visiting this place again, hopefully sooner than later.

This place is awesome. The food is great, decent prices, and the staff is the friendliest around. I would have given 5 stars but when we came in 15 minutes till close they had run out of wings! Haha. They instead suggested the Jerk Pork which was wonderful as well. Salads were great also. Take the time and stop by here. Just make sure you make it early so you don’t miss out on wings! =)

An OIB must!!! We go here every time we visit and it never disappoints. Ribs fall off the bone — delicious! Crab fritters are my favorite, and the lime dipping sauce is a great accompaniment. My husband is a huge fan of their wings. Reservations are a must during busy summer months, or else you will be waiting quite a while.

Food is good. Large servings. Always busy which means service is hit and miss. This time we sat for over 15 minutes without even a glass of water. Frustrating when I can see 4 employees hanging out around the register chatting rather than serving their customers. Parking is a bit of a mess as most people park in the dirt surrounding the building. Prepare for 20 – 30 minute waits for most week nights and longer on weekends. Just know what to expect and you won’t be disappointed.

They do not lie when they say that you will have the best ribs you’ve ever had. The baby back ribs are melting in your mouth and are spiced to perfection! Then there was the coconut shrimp accompanied by an orange mango marmalade which I really liked. My co– diners had the Cesar salad with grilled shrimps has around 20 beautiful succulent shrimps on skewers– I have never had that many shrimp in any salad ever. We also ordered a plate of Jamaican specialties which consists of jerk chicken and pork, cod fritters and a kind of pastry stuffed with spicy beef– all was tasty, but I enjoyed the jerk chicken best. Beware, the portions are quite big, even the appetizers were quite generous so either come very hungry or you might want to consider sizing down your order. Did I mention they also have live music and an outside tiki bar and patio?

Omnomnom this place was deeeelicious! Amazing, juicy, well-seasoned meat and really tasty beans and rice, and homemade key lime pie! I split the goat plate with my husband, which was me trying to be adventurous. I’m a wuss and didn’t like all the bony bits, but the meat itself was REALLY good. It was a relaxing atmosphere with live music, and I really like the many kinds of wind chimes outside. There was even a painter there, actively painting, and selling her mixed media sea-related artwork outside. It just made me want to visit Jamaica more than I’ve ever wanted to before, which is hard to describe. But it was laid back, friendly, fun and delicious. What more do you want at the beach? Definitely need to go back for pork and sangria.

Great spot in Ocean Isle. All of the meat is extremely succulent and full of flavor. The chicken wings were a favorite here — crunchy seasoned skin on the outside and tender meat on the inside, literally falling off of the bone in only the best way. The jerk sauce is a perfect complement to almost any dish you choose. I’d recommend the Jerk Sampler if you want to taste a good variety of what the restaurant has to offer. And if you somehow save room for dessert, try the homemade key lime pie — simply delicious. As an extra plus, our server was extremely amiable and accommodating. We had an excellent dining experience overall. I’m marking this one on the map.

We eat here every time we travel to OIB. Reservations are a must. Closed on Sunday and Monday The food is over the top. We were skeptical the first time we went thinking«jerk» meant spicy. It is anything but. Ribs fall of the bone! Coconut shrimp are excellent. Save room for dessert. The raspberry mango cheesecake is the best cheesecake I have ever had.

Had read a lot of good things about this place online and decided to give it a try. Made reservations for 7:30 by calling them in the early afternoon and left a message with our request. They called back with our confirmation a couple hours later. We arrived promptly at 7:30, was given a buzzer and ended up waiting 45 minutes for a table. So basically, even if you have a reservation, you can and will still wait quite a bit, so be prepared. But without reservations, you pretty much have no chance at even getting in. They had a nice outdoor waiting area(complete with shade and ceiling fans), though, with lots of benches and seats and frequent/friendly while-you-wait bar-service. The food really was outstanding and worth the wait. The service was stellar — quick, efficient and friendly. Our table ordered ribs, coconut shrimp, curry chicken, tag-and-go cod fritters and 3 kids’ meals(hot dog, grilled cheese and chicken tenders). All were well-received but the ribs were simply amazing. They weren’t your standard bbq sauce soaked ribs, but rather wet-rubbed and cooked to perfection, ie fall off the bone. There was live music, ie a guy and his guitar who sang lots of favorites, which made for a lively, fun atmosphere. Pros: Reaaaaally good food. The ribs were some of the best we’ve ever had and the coconut shrimp was delicious as well. The staff, from the hostess to the servers were outstanding. Lively, fun atmosphere Cons: Long wait, even with a reservation, relatively expensive and though this place is listed as a Jamaican Restaurant, it really wasn’t all that Jamaicany.

Fantastic! I loved everything about this place from the atmosphere to the service to the food. The food is slightly sweeter and not as spicy as some Jamaican, but the flavor was awesome. The jerk chicken, omg good! Loved the restaurant décor. I cannot wait to return. Thinking of this food makes my mouth water now.
