Awesome little hole in the wall! We happened to be staying at the Worldmark, which is right next door, during the off season. It turns out there isn’t much at all in Ocean Park, so we were happy to see this this little place was open for lunch. The owner is funny and welcoming. The clam chowder and sandwiches were delicious. Seating is limited but it makes for a cozy spot!

Really good food, cooked well. Small touches make it charming, like the paintings and cartoons done by locals and other fans of Steve(owner, greeter, and cook!). There were two other people there at 2:15 p.m. on a Thursday. A client told me it was the best sandwich he’d ever had so I had been looking forward to it. I was especially pleased with the three pieces of sandwich(it’s how he cuts them) and the beautifully toasted bread — without getting it all greasy or black. I chose«Gotta Gouda» — chicken and mushrooms with melted cheese with a light mustard sauce. Husband had the«Roast N Toast» — basically a roast beef sammie on crisp-grilled sour-dough with pickled onions and a horseradish dipping sauce. I also tried the muligatawny stew, a thick soup with lots of flavor(lacked salt which was easily remedied at the table). Next time I will try the chowder, which he was out of today. The view of the golf course is added fun, as was his puppy dog, a beautiful Goldendoodle with awesome personality. Fun and unique.

Clean place, and great food! Sandwiches were large, tasty, on delicious toasted sourdough bread, and lots of fillings! Turkey chilli was excellent, not shy on the spices, and lots of shredded turkey, corn, beans, and chilli peppers. Friendly service to boot! Again, this place is clean, unlike some places we’ve seen in the area.

this place is a gem and worth a visit! the sandwich options are all delicious and so well put together. the other customers eating lunch when i was in all agreed that these may be the best sandwiches we’ve all ever eaten. stop by. everything is all done from scratch. steve, the owner, was explaining that he roasts the turkey breast every other day and carmelizes the onions each morning. that’s why it all tastes so good. really.

My wife and I ate lunch here today with our two and four year old daughters. I had the French Dip, my wife had the Chicken Gouda sandwich, the girls had clam chowder. All were excellent. The café itself is very small, in the parking lot between the Worldmark and the golf course. Weather was good today so we sat outside. Only one guy working there. Super nice and laid back. He gave the girls animal crackers while they waited; nice touch. It’s really great to have found a good lunch spot close to ocean park for while we are here on weekends. Will definitely be back.

Fabulous sandwiches – the chicken with gouda and carmelized onions is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The owner Steve was welcoming, funny, and had great stories to tell about the community & the bear visiting his back yard in the area.

One simply cannot eat Steve’s French Dip delicately. You must dive in whole heartedly, up to your elbows, leaning over the plate so as not to wear any of the deliciousness! Tender meat, grilled onions peppers mushrooms, melty cheese, toasty bun — heaven! The dip is not too salty and I found I couldn’t leave a drop behind. The side of creamy horseradish sauce crowns a lunch that is worth any miles it takes to find Great Day Café. Just do it — you’ll be back.
