The chicken is amazing. The food has great flavor and the establishment is clean. I was waiting for this place to open back up to avoid the drive elsewhere. YUM!

Amazing chicken. We got a whole chicken and the skin was delicious, every bite was moist, flavorful chicken. Loved it. The beans were watery but My boyfriend raved about the flour tortillas. Great food, great price.

Problem is this: For the second time in about a year and a half(I’d forgotten why I walked out the first time, so I tried them again yesterday), I went in and asked for their 8-pc. chicken only selection(about $ 11), and if I could have dark meat only. The guy then tells me it will be $ 15 for all dark, as they have to cut up and cook it separately or whatever. WHAAAATT??? It’s GRILLEDCHICKEN place, already — just throw some drums and thighs on the grill and let’s go on with our day, like every other place EVERYWHERE that serves chicken! So, of course, I walked out of the place again. Next time I’ll remember why, for sure, and remember not to ever go in the place again. It didn’t smell too bad, though, for a hole-in-the-wall place. I just don’t get the $ 4 charge for all dark — it’s not like I was ordering a side of ribs or something. Sheesh! Change your POLICY about this, Compadres, let me know you have, and I’ll consider trying you one more time.

Wow. I went to this place thinking it would be like the other location in San Marcos. I was so wrong. The one in San Marcos has very fresh ingredients and meat. This place had watered down beans, and flashed cooked FROZEN chicken breast. I couldn’t believe it! When I saw it being cooked I thought«this is going to be rubbery». And it was VERY rubbery. And signicantly smaller portions than the one in San Marcos. Two stars instead of 1 because I don’t want to completely bash the company, because the one in SM is very good. Compadres, please keep your oceanside location in check! No more frozen rubbery chicken and watered down beans!

Tried this place last weekend. The customer service was awesome which is why I didn’t have the heart to give one star. However, the food was awful! Not authentic at all! White washed beans and rice. This place has the right idea but seriously needs to change the recipes. The worst part was the flour tortillas, they’re not handmade and taste like they were purchased at dollar tree. Sticking with home grilled pollo asado or buying at Murietas Mexican restaurant. Sincerely, A Hispanic who knows good Mexican Food

Way good chicken… excellent beans and rice… just the way they do it in Baja, Calif. Nice counter person. …We used to go to El Pollo Loco once in a while… This place is soooo much better… They say the menudo is excellent too and cooked to order. Going to try that next time as my husband is a big menudo fan(every Sunday)…

This place has no customer service, they get your money before they give the food and if you complaint about anything they don’t care, on top of that tables are dirty and Trash bin is overflowing .I had to clean a table myself, there were 4 tables and none was clean .They advertise something and give you something else, don’t look at the pictures on the menu they mean nothing. Number one is a leg and a breast but you really get a wing and a thigh, i complaint and she said to me what you get is that, she didn’t even try to make me happy with another little drumstick, she kept rolling her eyes with an attitude of who cares .When I took a picture of the menu and told her I was going to review them then 5 minutes later while I was writing my review on Unilocal she came back with the other piece of meat. Does it really need to be like that? I am a Very unhappy customer.

I’ve seen this place in this little strip mall and have always been curious about trying it. I am a big fan of grilled chicken and I figured why not give this place a go. I got the chicken combo and replaced the rice and beans for fries. I’m not a big fan of re-fried beans so it was awesome that they were able to substitute and be flexible with the combo. So the verdict on the chicken… dry dry dry… I think only one piece, and that was the breast, had some sort of moisture in it. The overall crust on the skin had decent flavor but I wasn’t overly impressed. The salsas were decent. The green one are for those who like their sauces spicy and the red one is more mild but still has some kick. The people serving are nice but the place itself was not well kept. The trash was overflowed which really is a sign of laziness. The food didn’t take too long to get but it wasn’t blazing speed service either. Overall don’t ever see my self coming back here.

I was really excited to find a Compadres in my neighborhood. My boss raved about their food from the San Marcos location so I couldn’t wait to try. Maybe my expectations were too high because what I got was extremely dry, almost burnt chicken. I got the 8 piece combo meal which came to a little over $ 16(not cheap). It included 8 pieces of grilled chicken, 6 flour or corn tortillas(I chose flour), a large side of rice and beans. Next time I’m craving grilled chicken, I’m taking my $ 16 to El Pollo Loco.

This place is as good as it gets on Chicken … I am surprised I have have written this review sooner. Found this spot on Unilocal.Photos showed some good looking chicken and boy they did not disappoint at all. The chicken is perfectly cooked and seasoned excellent. This place is so good, I have found myself coming here for lunch and back for dinner. Its just that good. The environment of the place is low key and quiet. I found this is perfectly suited for this place because it keeps cost down and more importantly focused on the FOOD. I always order the same thing here, the chicken breast plate combo. The plate does take 10 – 15 minutes to make so be prepared to wait but you will not regret waiting.

Fantastic! I have driven by this place many times but never thought to stop and try it out. Finally last night I stopped in and I’m sorry I’ve never eaten here sooner. Low prices, perfect portions, great taste! My daughter and I both got different meals and both were very good. The smoked fresh off the grill flavor is incomparable to any other chicken that I’ve had around here. Even the rice and beans were fantastic, jalapeños and grilled onions on the side and every meal gets a serving of salad. Great place especially for those who like paleo like me. The restaurant floor, open kitchen and bathroom were also kept clean even by the end of the night.

Compadres makes some decent grilled chicken. The combo plates are decent with delicious refried beans, rice and tortillas. I also like the Mexican style chicken soup with chinks of chicken and tasty veggies. I like this place.

I have this place a chance during my luch. I walked in and there was not one in sight to greet me or anything. I went to the regester and not one was present. I said hello and finally someone from the back back out. I order the como with the two Tamales and they stated they were out. So i then ordered the combo number 1 which was 2 chicken and rince and beans. The rice and been where decent. They had a good favor. The order did talk a long time to take out. about 20 minutes from the time that i had arrived and i was the first to order. The chicken was ok. I have had better. The chicken was over cooked and dry. I did like the fact they included lettus and pepers to go with the order for additonal flavor. I would not recommend this place. There service was awful.

Although I live near by I never thought about stopping at this place before. It’s a small establishment with seating near the door and an odd counter toward the back where you order. There is a simple menu with a few options such as quesadillas, tamales and the main item being chicken. The service at the counter was friendly and the food was ready shortly after ordering. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. It was shredded chicken with fair flavor, it came with guacamole, Mexican queso and lettuce. The green salsa was not the best but added flavor to the meal. There was a bit of grease dripping from each slice that I did not find very appealing. Overall the meal was fair. I will probably go back but to order what they are known for, the grilled chicken.

Been waiting for a while with curiosity to see when this place would open and finally it looks like the grand opening is here. Walked in and saw that the layout is kind of weird, with dining tables in the front and a closed window looking into the kitchen. The actual counter front for taking orders is off towards the back on the right side where an easy-to-read fairly basic menu can located. I got a to-go order of 8 pieces of chicken only and the chicken quesadilla plate(see photo) and found them to be exactly as pictured on the menu. Chicken actually had some lettuce, lemon slices and large peppers(pobranos?) whereas the quesadilla came with avocado slices, lettuce and lemon slices. Found the chicken quesadilla to be loaded with chicken and enough cheese to hold it down and it was quite pleasing when stuffed with the veggies and some of the crème sauce. Green sauce has a little kick whereas the red sauce is on the mild side. Price wise, this place is pretty decent(8 pc for $ 10) and the chicken is easily better than the stuff they serve at KFC these days, and more along the lines of El Pollo Loco or Carlitos. This place has 2 large TVs to keep your interest going while waiting for your order.
