I joined in May 2015. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Although the membership is pricey $ 120 for family, the swim instructors are very good. If you want to enroll your children without being a member that is a good option. Also they have programs for kids with special needs. The pool is good but the gym is small. In the summer and on the weekends its is very quiet. Overall a good experience for me.

I went to the JCC when I was a young kid for camp which I loved. Now that I’m an adult, my parents and I have a family membership that we use many times a week to use the gym. They have updated the facility and although the hours get a little weird due to the building corresponding to Jewish holidays, the place is great and welcoming! Great for kids, teens, families, and seniors!

An invaluable complex to the community, Friedberg JCC is a center of both secular Jewish and non-Jewish life of Oceanside. There are plenty of programs for all ages. There is a fabulous nursery and preschool for kids and an after school program up to 8th grade! The swimming pool is very clean and the cost of the classes, with membership, is quite affordable. Every Sunday, middle school kids have a teen lounge from 1 to 6-they play video games, table tennis, go to the pool, etc, and this is free to members, and 5 bucks for non-members. On most of the school holidays, they have holiday programs for kids that run from 8AM till 7PM and include trips or shows. The only thing that I find negative is the high cost of the JCC camp-about 5K per child.

The Barry & Florence Friedberg JCC(specifically the branch in Oceanside, NY), is located in a relatively new building at the end of Neil Court, in an otherwise industrial area of Nassau County. There are many facets to this JCC — they offer(with membership), family access to their gym, a really nice pool, sauna, basketball hoops, as well as classes(some of which have additional fees), trips for seniors, a teen center, arts-and-crafts, etc. One of the best services they offer(of course for a fee), is their wonderful daycare, nursery & pre-k programs. The vast majority of the teachers and assistants there are very friendly, very attentive and very loving towards the children. I believe they take children from 6 weeks old and up. They offer hot breakfasts and lunches for the older children made right there on the premises. They do maintain a kosher kitchen and they ask that all parents, when sharing with the classes for birthdays and other events, that they supply goodies which are kosher. Children from all races and religions are welcomed with open arms and all get a background education on Judaism while attending the programs(i.e. shabbat, the various Jewish holidays as they approach, etc.) The daycare program offered is available for 12 hours per day and the children are well cared for and taken care of during their time there. The older kids get to swim periodically, all kids enjoy the small field they have and the playground(and water sprinklers as the weather permits), they have an indoor tumbling room and plenty of classroom based activities to keep them busy. My oldest child loved it there — he attended from the time he was 18 months to 5 years old. They also offer childcare in their other branches in Long Beach and Merrick. Note, they also have an in-house summer camp for the little ones and a camp in Farmingdale they bus the kids too as they get older — it was a big hit with my son and his friends from the JCC. He cannot wait to go back next summer. Betweent he activities for the children and the adult programs, gym, etc. it is a well run JCC with very nice people running the place — and a great place to entrust your kids to while you work.
