Oak Riparian, awesome! Sometimes the people are a little unsavory who visit.. but the beauty of the area is worth a visit. There’s areas to play, to hike, areas for kids(young and old). I also recommend nearby Calaveras.

we love this park. The little area is perfect for my one and a half year old, but they also have a larger play area for older kids. I definitely recommend going during the week because there is limited parking and it is always very busy on the weeekend.

Love this park! Big open spaces, nice equipment and connects to the trails system between Vista and Carlsbad.

I used to come to this park when I was a kid when I visited my aunt in Vista(I lived in LA). Recently, I returned, with my own niece and nephew(2 and 5, respectively) in tow. It’s a decently fun park. There are two playgrounds, one for 3 and under, and one for older kids. I’ve seen several parks in the area with this feature, which is a nice thought. However, the two playgrounds are a bit too far apart for me to feel secure watching both kids at the same time. There are a couple picnic tables(the concrete kind) which seem to have okay vantage points, but they are placed helter skelter. That is, they face one playground, but not both. And they are not level – which means you can sit on one end and after a few minutes you’ve slid to the other end because of the natural incline. I really wish the park constructors had considered the usefulness of the picnic benches when they placed them. The parking lot is tiny, particularly for a place with a soccer field. If there is a soccer team playing or practicing, good luck finding a parking spot. And there is NO adjacent street parking – you’ll have to park in the residential area and cross a busy street instead. If you take a look at the map, it looks like this park connects with Calavera Hills Preserve. For hikers/walkers, this might be really cool. It deserves some more exploration.
