I took my 11 yr old son, my sister and 3 friends to a Saturday workshop. We really didn’t know what to expect, but decided to go with an open mind. It was much more than I thought it would be and SO much fun meeting other people that had the«creative juices» flowing! They had all the supplies we needed, including the tiles, and awesome paints I never knew existed!(I used to do ceramics 30 years ago with my Gramma, and boy have they come up with some new stuff since then!) They also had drinks and snacks and my son loved that! After giving a brief background about the whole process, they led us in setting an intention and a meditation. I felt so relaxed and at ease, I just decided to let go and let the«perfectionist» in me take the afternoon off! Words can’t express what a bonding experience it was for all of us… but especially for my son and I! I had not originally intended on bringing him, because it was going to be Mom’s Day Out! But he had nowhere to go, so he tagged along. Now knowing what a special day it turned out to be, I will definitely be bringing both of my kids next time! While painting the tiles, all of the old memories of 30 yrs ago came flooding through my mind… sitting next to my Gramma & talking about stuff & learning about all the family history etc., her giving me pointers & really boosting my confidence with art etc… they all poured through my mind and touched my heart in ways I never knew would happen. Now, that Saturday, 30 yrs later, I sat with my son that’s the same age I was back then… and I saw myself in a more innocent, loving light. It made me really miss my Gramma! I passed along the stories I had been told, and added a few more, and my son said«I wish I could do ceramics with Gramma, I miss her!» I can’t thank you enough for the special memories, and heart felt connections that day held for me. Oh, and btw my tiles look AWESOME! =)
