Amazing meat. Ordered Kosher Brisket and it was delicious. The reason for only 3-​stars is simple. I ordered 9 Lbs on Tuesday. When I arrived on Wed evening, they talked me into taking 13 Lbs for 9 people ($ 167.00) and explained that the meat will shrink and 9 Lbs won’t be enough. We ate about 7 Lbs. I honestly feel like I was taken for a ride. Oh well, they do have incredible meat so I will be going back. In the meantime, would anyone like leftovers?

I have been a customer for years. Love his prime rib steak & they trim it to perfection (got to get it 1 ½″ thick). His help is always friendly and can handle quirky customers. I guess my just coming back says it all. Now my son is starting to be a customer. May Charley continue to offer this coming barbecue season many specials. Come to think of it he always has holiday and seasonal specials. Now will he just offer franks made like southern fried chicken — I just love my high cholesterol foods!

Terrible and The owner is a complete jerk! Buyer beware. They will try to rip you off at every turn.

I purchased skirt steak that was marinated in a teriyaki sauce. I took it home and cooked it on a charcoal barbecue grill. That was the best skirt steak that I have ever had. I will definitely be back for more.

This is a complete rip off shop! Talk about B. S-​ing a customer. They give u a price per LB, then forget to tell you that’s before they «trim» off ½ of what your paying for! So basically u end up paying twice the price per LB & leave w ½ the product u paid for. Makes no sense at all. Just tell me it’s $ 30 LB not $ 20. Besides I’m sure the «fat» they trim off goes right back into their chop meat. Money in THEIR pockets. The steak isn’t even that great. Can get just as good if not better at Fairway. The marinades are very generic, commercial & bottled tasting. U WILL-​NEED-​A new wallet by the time u get outta this place.

U Need A continues to be our family’s go to market for the best quality meats, at this point, we are regulars, and they know my hubby like the back of their hand, and give us great discounts, service and tips on preparing. About a month ago, I purchased a new item, chicken sausage, and Terrance, who used to be a chef, told me how to cook it perfectly, it came out finger-​licking good, so a few weeks ago, my best friend had a BBQ for her b-​day and I offered to bring the sausage and burgers which I grind using the chuck from U need A, it was a bit of logistics to bring everything from Long Island to Staten Island, but it was so worth it, I kind of felt a bit ashamed because guests were raving so much about the sausage and the burgers, and I took spotlight for quite a long time, but my friend was happy because these were the hits of the party. I can’t wait till our next BBQ event for Father’s day as we promised our Dads quite a treat and I know that with meats from U Need A, the BBQ will be, excuse the pun, fireproof-​I have never gotten a bad cut from them. My kids rave about the chicken cutlets that the shop would dip in egg and put breadcrumbs on upon requests. True, you are paying extra for this, but when you have 3 kids and running around town, 1 lb of these cutlets that costs 8 bucks, and cooks in literally 10 minutes, paired with a baked potato or pasta is cheaper than pizza pie!

The best butcher/​Italian food market I have ever been to in my life, and certainly the best in Oceanside and Long Island as well. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! The best filet mignon I have ever eaten! Also the best eggplant parm, chicken fingers, penne ala vodka with chicken, and the best banana bread! Check this place out ASAP you will be so glad that you did. If G-​d has a butcher and an Italian Food Market up in heaven then U-​Need-​A-​Prime Meats is doing the cooking! Trust me it is worth paying more for this kind of high quality meat and classic Italian food! This place is YUMALICIOUS!

Place is great they were helpful and have a great selection of food there for great deals!

As far as butchers go this place is one of the better I have been to. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I go almost weekly and they take the time to trim any of the meats I get perfectly with no complaints. Their pre made foods are pricey but are absolutely amazing… chili, fresh mozzarella, green beans, rice pudding, chicken meatballs… all great
As stated in another review they can be pricey but for good meat you have to pay. Although on staples they are pretty reasonable $ 2.99/lb for trimmed chicken breast cutlets is cheaper than any grocery store.

Been here a few times but wont be back. They really pour on the charm when you are ordering your meat and try to sell you on whatever they can which can be cute or annoying depending on your mood. No prices on anything till you get the bill and think you stumbled into a Jewelry store not a butcher shop. What I purchased was Ok, not great and not bad…
