Glad to have Mantra in town. Flavors are wonderful. Some inconstancy in time to time on a few dishes, but overall very good.

We went here based on the Unilocal reviews– definitely awesome! The naan was fresh, yummy curry and good fish stew. This is a go to place for Indian.

Last night my husband and I decide to try something new and so we went to Mantra Indian Bistro, all I can say is how amazing the food and service were. We share three dishes, had the mango smoothie and left knowing that we will come back again. Yummy food, great service, friendly environment, great place for lunch or dinner.

The food at Mantra was Fantastic! The tastes were distinct and kept me wanting another bite. Naan was grilled well and very flavorful. The sauces with the paneer were excellent Went there on a Saturday night and was very busy, but it was worth the wait. We will bring friends next time.

My wife & I eat here regularly and find the food and service to be great; it’s a little slow service-wise but it’s perfect for the venue. The fresh breads are also great. They also have take out, but sometimes they don’t answer if they are all busy with in house guests.

The food tasted great. Unfortunately the butter chicken had multiple pieces of either bone or cartilage in it. Hard to deal with politely when eating with others. It was pretty cold in there and today definitely wasn’t one of Wisconsin’s coldest winter days. We came for lunch during the work day and the service was a little too slow for us to do it again. I may try going once more, but for dinner or on a weekend. Offering a lunch buffet would be a great idea!

Simply put — great Indian food at a great price. Dinner: I went here with three other people, two of which had never tried Indian food before and have relatively low tolerances to spice. Everyone(myself included) absolutely loved the food. The server asked us how spicy we would like our food, which resulted in each person receiving a dish at the right spice level. The Lamb Vindaloo was very spicy(as I was hoping) and made my taste buds dance happily. The others got Chicken Korma, Goat Curry, and an Eggplant vegetarian dish. We all tried and loved each others dishes. We loved how each sauce had a distinct and complex flavor profile, yet there were common flavor notes across the dishes. The dishes are great for sharing. If you go here for dinner, I would recommend getting one order of naan for every two people Lunch: We went back for lunch, and our food was as equally delicious. I got Paneer Tikka Masala, and asked for the dish to be made«spicy». The spice level was appropriate given my request; however, overall the dish was less spicy than the Vindaloo. If you really like spicy food I would recommend getting the Vindaloo. Lunch dishes includes a small soup, small salad, rice, and naan, which is the perfect amount of food if you come with an empty stomach. I would recommend coming here for lunch because this is an exceptional value. I’ve had a lot of(good and not-so-good) Indian food at a lot of different places, and I would have to say that Mantra ranks in the top 10 – 20 percent.

Went here for the first time last night, and everything about it was excellent. The small and cozy atmosphere was perfect, and I did not feel the need to be rushing to finish my meal. The food was excellent, and it is worth it to try the Masala Tea. My mom, who was not too sure about Indian food, ended up loving it. Especially good was the Naan bread to dip in the curry. Would definitely go back.

The food and service have been excellent the few times I’ve been here. I’ve had both lunch and dinner here. The portions for both are very generous, with the lunch offering soup, salad, and desert. They do a very nice job making sure the restaurant is clean.

There are four steps to get the most out of your experience at Mantra. Step 1: Go to Mantra Step 2: Order the Mango Chicken and garlic naan Step 3: Take a bite Step 4: Fall in freaking love Disclaimer: the boyfriend and I are unusually picky about Indian food. More so the boyfriend because he’s been spoiled by his Indian aunt. We came in last night after hearing rave reviews from his mother. The atmosphere was peaceful with its warm color scheme and a myriad of spices wafting in the air. There was fun Malayalam pop music playing in the background or, as it said on the television screen, the«Malayalam Juke Box». We ordered the garlic naan, the Mango Chicken and the Chana Masala. The meal started off with the complimentary papadum and assorted sauces. They were all delicious and some of the best I’ve ever had. The cilantro chutney had a gorgeous mint green coloring, and tamarind sauce was really fresh. However, our favorite was the red chutney with its chunky texture and sweet flavor. Our meal came out as soon as we finished the papadum. The garlic naan was like the garlic bread of your dreams. It’s a little thinner than what I’m used to but the garlicky flavor eliminated any doubts. It was buttery without being greasy; soft without being doughy; and salty without being overkill. I devoured the entire basket. The Mango Chicken was out of this world. My favorite dish from Milwaukee’s Maharaja is the Mango Lamb, but after one bite of this Mango Chicken, and I can never go back. It has the right balance between sweet and savory. The chicken was so tender and succulent; it was to the point where I thought I was eating red meat. As for the curry sauce… it was unbelievable. It was smooth, thick and tangy. Though a little heavy, the mango reduced the richness, preventing it from being too indulgent. My favorite curry dish of all time is the Chana Masala from the Chicago Curry House. While Mantra doesn’t blow them out of the water, their Chana Masala was delicious in its own way. There was a generous amount of tomatoes and chickpeas, giving it lots of textural interest. The sauce was rich, delectable and very filling. The boyfriend and I were stuffed halfway through our meal. There were two men working that night, and both were very nice. The service was pleasant and cordial. Our waters were consistently filled, and we felt welcomed throughout our stay. Overall, I’m happy to know there’s delicious Indian food in Wisconsin, and I highly recommend anyone to try this place. Mantra is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Wisconsin, and they now have two new regulars.

Mantra is definitely the best Indian food I’ve ever had, anywhere. Absolutely everything is great, but personal favorites are both the chicken and the beef tikka masala, and the chicken 65 for an appetizer is a must. Mantra also has the best garlic naan you could ever hope to have. They’ve never gotten any part of our order wrong, and the prices are very reasonable, too. The dining area is small, but on the rare occasion we’ve had to wait, it hasn’t been more than 10 minutes or so – But for how great the food is, we’d gladly wait much longer if we had to.

Quick and inexpensive Indian food. I was the only one in there which was a surprise since the food was so good! Their lunch special comes with soup, a main entrée, dessert and naan. I went quite out of the way to get here on my way home from Madison but it was totally worth it! I would happily stop here again. Down side is its hard to find on Main Street.

Best Indian food in Wisconsin. Northern and southern cuisine. No dosas in case you are craving that. Great service and enough food to have left overs for lunch next day. Lamb dishes rocked. Don’t forget to get a mango lassi to wash it all down. Naan is fresh and delicious. Rice dessert is cool. Lunch combos give you a lot of food for a great price.

Five stars is reserved for something special. I really liked this place and think it’s special. First and foremost it’s super challenging to find an Indian restaurant in this neck of the woods. Kudos to the owners for opening this place here. It’s located in a building with other things(kids play place amongst them). That may turn off some but if you look past that and try the food i think you will agree it’s nirvana! We had the lunch specials. For a reasonable price you get a tasty and fragment lentil soup, a salad, a wide selection of entrees, rice and roti and dessert. We had butter chicken and lamb curry. Absolutely fantastic. Cooked perfect and spicy enough for me and not too spicy for wifey. Served in really cool looking casserole bowls the portions are HUGE. I can’t remember the last time I left food. It was almost tragic but I was soooo full. Wifey had to smack my hand to make me say no Maas. Will definitely return the next time I’m up here.

The food is incredible at Mantra! Dishes are prepared to perfection. Very friendly and pleasant staff. This is yet another incredible restaurant that call Oconomowoc home! Best Indian in SE Wisconsin… Nothing even close in Madison or Milwaukee. We have dined in and out, from a table of 2 – 14, had the buffet, and dined with kids… everything the same, hot, fresh, and delectable. The only down side about mantra, yet it has not been issue for us yet, is that seating is limited, and the buffet is SO popular that they have a hard time keeping up with demand… But they do!
